"Until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore, you will not know the terror of being forever lost at sea.” – Charles Cook
Welcome to DBB: Character Chamber
Oh the miserable, lonely and depressed; Poor unfortunate souls, in pain, in need. They come flocking to her cauldron crying, "Spells, Ursula please!” Does she help them? Yes indeed. There are many horrors beneath the deep, sea monsters, royal kings, and even witches. You heard me, there are sea witches, and they will make deals with you! They know a little magic, it's a talent they've always possessed, and they use it on the behalf of the miserable, lonely and depressed. One of those malicious witches is…
Ursula: the most feared witch of the sea, and infamous sister of King Triton.
You know me, FMT
And it's time to see if this Sorcerer of the Sea has the best Arsenal, Abilities and Actions to survive Death By Blog
Before We Begin
Similarly to the Captain Hook blog, we'll basically be using everything for her just for the fun of it. So her original movie, the animated series, books and novels such as “Twisted Tales" or “Disney Villains", any videogames, Mirrorverse, Kingdom Hearts, Lorcana, and any possible comics she has. Of course we won't be cross-scaling her to any of the other media listed such as Descendents, mostly just cuz she doesn't need it, just giving her any extra abilities for the fun of it! However we will scale her to events that happen in the material, as long as it makes sense for her to scale at all, or if she causes the feat.
Background
We all imagine ocean monsters as we drift off to sleep, wondering about what lies beneath the dark waters. The waves are not measured in feet or inches, they are measured in increments of fear, and have never been friendly to man. At most it has been the accomplice of human restlessness. In the land of Atlantica, there is a kingdom run by the King of the sea, King Triton. The land is perfect, full of beauty, full of absolute wonder.. however the land isn't just full of the goodest of the good. The sea is full of witches, powerful sorcerers and wicked mistresses. There is one mistress, more powerful than any other in the sea, but before we move on to those exact powers and abilities…we must tell you the story of the dark echo across the sea..
Ursula the Sea Witch is a figure born not merely of evil, but of betrayal, resentment, and hunger. Her story reveals a woman; once a sister, once a daughter, once a being of belonging; cast out, twisted by rage and grievance into a creature of pure malice. Her origins are less about her sudden fall and more about the slow corrosion of love, the way resentment festers when one is denied their rightful place. She is the shadow of a family tragedy, a sister betrayed by her own brother, King Triton, and exiled into the abyss. Sit around the fabled circle my beloved readers, for you are about to hear the story of the Mistress of the Darkest Depths…
—---------------------------------------------------------------
She was not born a monster. No, she was born the daughter of a sea goddess and a mortal man. A child of two worlds, cast adrift in both. From her mortal father, she learned tenderness, for he was the only man who looked upon her strange form with love rather than disgust. He was her anchor, her guiding light. But mortals are frail, and cruelty runs deep in their kind. They discovered that this girl was a monster, people she knew, people she loved, all turned against her like she was always a devil. They wanted to burn her, they claimed she was a witch, who was the real monster? But as fate provides, so do fathers, Ursula’s father never treated her as a monster..but as his daughter..and he protected her even when the village tried to burn her..
He was human, just like them, yet they treated him like an animal. Trying to get to Ursula, they ripped him apart, there was so much blood..so much pain..the pain of haunting images in Ursula's psyche. When the humans slaughtered him, Ursula’s heart shattered, and her grief turned to fury. With her magic, she avenged him, drowning her father’s murderers in a torrent of wrath, turning them into horrific creatures, and their screams echoed across the kingdoms. She did not kill them, she enjoyed hearing their torment, she enjoyed hearing their screams of pain and suffering. That day, the sea learned her name. That day, Ursula’s hatred was born…
But her sorrow did not end there. The god of the sea found her, he claimed she was a monster for what she did to these humans..but he also revealed something she never knew; he was her brother, and he wanted her to come home. She turned to her brother, proud ruler of the seas for kinship, for a place in the world of her mother’s blood. Yet Triton looked upon her with revulsion. To him she was grotesque, a blemish upon the royal line, a reminder of the union between goddess and man. Fate saw Ursula as a joke, and it was revealed that Triton didn't have the greatest intentions. The king hated humans, he sank human ships whenever he had the chance, he despised and loathed the life of those disgusting murderous creatures. Why did he shame Ursula for what she had done, he would have done the same, he should have been proud of his sister for killing so many humans. It was all a facade, he came to Ursula because he needed her to be in his Atlantica, because he needed to prove that he was worthy of the throne by showing he was the rightful ruler…
He brought her home for selfish reasons, and he forced her to hide her hideous form, he did not want a disgusting creature to be his sister..he forced her to appear in a more “natural" form, to look more like a mermaid in his kingdom; however he still didn't accept her. She didn't feel at home, despite living in a wondrous castle, eating wondrous feasts, and living a lavish life..she was never accepted, she would always be rumored as a witch..a monster..a creature. It was only Triton’s queen, gentle and kind, who saw a spark of worth in her. In that woman’s compassion, Ursula glimpsed the sister she might have had, the mother she had lost, the family she had yearned for. But compassion is fragile, and the queen’s kindness was fleeting in a court ruled by Triton’s judgment. When the queen was gone, so too was the last kindness in Ursula’s world. Alone, abandoned, betrayed;her heart curdled into poison.
He cast her aside, banishing her from his kingdom, condemning her to the shadows, not for her crimes but for her very being. His words, sharp as coral, cut deeper than any blade: that she was unfit, vile, and unworthy of the sea’s throne. They could've ruled amazingly, together they would have ruled better than either of them could alone. With the magic of Triton's Trident, and the power of Ursula's sea shell, they had the power to rule the seas together, yet Triton could not accept such a vile and disgusting creature to rule a kingdom with him.. condemning her to a fate of loneliness and cruelty. Her magic grew, wild and consuming, as did her hunger for vengeance. She whispered promises to the desperate, tempting the weak with hope and dooming them to ruin. Her voice, once filled with longing, became a siren’s snare, binding souls in chains of ink and contracts. Each deal she struck was not only a trick, but a curse upon her own past, a mirror of the betrayal she herself had suffered. If the world had no place for her, then she would fashion her own, built on fear, hunger, and despair..but that didn't fuel her hatred..no..her brother struck with one last stab in the heart…
—---------------------------------------------------------------
Triton abandoned her as a child, left her for dead, left her at the mercy of humans who would've hated her. He knew how merciless humans were, he knew they would kill anything they were not familiar with, he did not care at all. He knew, he knew what would happen to her, he knew what she would lose, and he said her father deserved it. He said her father deserved his demise, he was a filthy fisherman, he deserved to be killed so inhumanly. Why, why would her own brother do this to her, why is his heart so dark? He revealed that he saw into her future, he saw that she would become a disgusting monster, a creature that tricked others into giving her their souls..and could not be the brother of such a vile being..
He didn't care about anything that happened to her, didn't attempt to help her out of her fate, he sealed it, he ensured that she would become every terrible thing he called her. This was the final strike, which truly engulfed her in hatred and anger. Hate for her brother ensuring the pain she'd experience, HATE for her brother abandoning her and forcing her out of his kingdom because he despised her entity, HATE for her brother knowing of her pain and only claiming she deserved all of it because he saw she would become a monster..a monster that he created…she wanted revenge..she would kill him..and take the throne she deserved..
Yet in her cunning nature, she remained ever tragic. For in her cruelty, she was also bound by the memory of love. She hated mortals, yet remembered her father’s gentle touch. She despised the sea folk, yet yearned for her brother’s acceptance. A heart split between love and loathing; such is the curse of Ursula. She had hints of sorrow for certain humans, she had attempted to help them despite being willing to kill as many off as she needed to. Perhaps her father's love, her acceptance, made her feel more love for the humans than the sea folk who only rejected her, despite despising both. Yet despite the semblances of humanity, the hints of care, her hatred engulfed her, took over her being..and she knew it was time to take her penultimate revenge. When at last her plan came to fruition, it was no mere conquest. It was vengeance, sharpened like a trident’s point. She stole a princess’ voice, ensnared Triton’s child, and forced the king himself to bow before her. And in that moment, when she wielded the trident and tasted the throne, she believed herself victorious. She believed justice had come full circle…
You see, Ariel, the youngest daughter of Triton fell in love with a human, oh how easy it was to make things go Ursula's way. Ariel had fallen in love with something her father hated more than anything, AND it was a prince?? How perfect! Ursula plotted with her old friends, the Odd Sisters, witches that control the stories of many villains and with amazing powers. She wanted their power to help kill Triton, telling them her plan and aiding in their absolute hatred for the king, wanting to kill him as well. However, the sisters wanted their youngest sister, Circe, in their arms, and they believed Ursula could help them find her and bring her home. What they didn't know was that Ursula made a deal with her, which Circe couldn't fulfill, and Ursula turned her into a Polyp so she could have the Odd Sisters in the grasp of her hands. But anyways, After Triton angrily destroys Ariel's collection of human treasures, Flotsam and Jetsam, Ursula's trusted eels, guide the distraught princess to her lair. Ursula presents herself as a trustworthy ally and convinces Ariel to sign a contract. The agreement is simple: Ursula will transform Ariel into a human for three days. If Ariel can receive a "kiss of true love" from Eric before the third sunset, the transformation will be permanent. The price for this spell is Ariel's voice, which Ursula takes and keeps in a magical nautilus shell..
—---------------------------------------------------------------
Confident that her plan will succeed, Ursula monitors Ariel and Eric from her cauldron. To her dismay, Ariel's charm begins to win Eric over, and the two almost kiss on a rowboat. At the last moment, Flotsam and Jetsam intervene and capsize the boat, preventing the kiss. With the deadline approaching, the Odd Sisters failing at their manipulation, Ursula realizes she must take matters into her own tentacles. She transforms herself into a beautiful human named Vanessa, using Ariel's stolen voice to ensnare Eric. As Vanessa, Ursula hypnotizes Eric and convinces him that she is the girl who saved his life. Eric, under her spell, agrees to marry her. The wedding is set to take place on a ship just before the sun sets on the third day. Ursula gloats that Ariel will fail and become her slave forever, a pawn she can then use to usurp Triton's throne. However, Ariel and her animal friends manage to expose Vanessa and break the enchanted necklace, restoring Ariel's voice…
The sun set before Eric could kiss Ariel, and she transformed back into a mermaid. Triumphantly, Ursula revealed her true form and took Ariel captive. When Triton appeared, Ursula forced him to sign her contract in his daughter's place, giving her control of Atlantica. With the king's trident and crown in her possession, Ursula became a monstrous, towering figure, wielding absolute power. At the same time, the Odd Sisters found out the truth of Ursula's betrayal, what she did to their sister and what she was planning. They were engulfed in hatred and needed to kill Ursula, their old friend, to save their sister. They tried killing Ursula with their spells, but it was not effective, Ursula was far too powerful, they needed to gather the power and magic of the many witches across the kingdoms to stop her once and for all…and it seemingly worked..
Tragedy is not victory. Tragedy devours itself. Ursula knew, deep within her blackened soul, that her end would mirror her rise. For one who builds her throne on hatred cannot sit upon it long. And so it was: the storm, the ship’s prow, the crushing weight of her own wrath dragging her down into the abyss. Prince Eric rode a ship the Odd Sisters resurrected, and with the spiked end of the ship, Ursula would be impaled..and that marked the end of the sea witch's reign. She got what she wanted; power, revenge, dominion..but in her heart she knew it was the very hunger that destroyed her. She was both the architect of her triumph and the author of her ruin. Ursula had already died before Eric killed her, her hatred and anger took over and destroyed the women who had a semblance of humanity, and it figuratively and literally killed her.
And Triton? Even in victory, he was broken. His daughter’s voice, silenced by the very sister he had spurned. His heart weighed by guilt, for he saw in Ursula’s demise not just a villain destroyed, but a sister wronged. And perhaps that is why he let Ariel walk upon the land, why he gave her the gift of humanity, the very thing he despised. In doing so, he sought to atone, if not to Ursula, then to the wound he carved into his own bloodline. This was Ursula's final act of revenge, forcing Triton into turning his daughter into the one thing he always resented. He failed his sister, but he could make amends with his daughter by finally doing the right thing. Even when he gave his sister the trident, he knew he deserved every terrible thing that would happen to him, he deserved all of the punishment he would endure…but his daughter was happy, she was with the love of her life, and in the end, he knew she deserved her happily ever after..
—---------------------------------------------------------------
But Ursula’s legacy did not end with her death. Her hatred seeped into the hearts of others, warping those who touched her power, corrupting the Odd Sisters, staining the seas themselves. Hers was a legacy of bitterness and venom, a reminder that rage spreads like a tide and consumes all who embrace it. Thus the tale of Ursula is sung like a Greek chorus: The abandoned child who became the sea’s greatest terror. The sister cast aside, whose wrath became legend. The witch who wanted love, yet chose hate. The queen of shadows who gained everything; and lost herself. She is the embodiment of a truth older than time: that cruelty breeds cruelty, that rejection breeds monsters, and that vengeance; no matter how righteous it feels; will always drag the hand that wields it into the abyss. Ursula is not merely a villain. She is a warning. A lesson whispered by the waves: Beware the poison of hate, for it will crown you and devour you all the same.
And so the sea remembers her; not as the child once cradled by a father’s love, nor as the sister denied her rightful place, but as the Sea Witch, who turned her grief into venom and her loneliness into chains. She offered the desperate their dreams, whispering of ‘poor unfortunate souls,’ yet it was her own soul that was the most unfortunate of all. For in her hunger she became the storm, and in her hatred she was consumed by it. Let her story stand as both dirge and warning: that even the gentlest heart, when abandoned, can grow into a terror the world will never forget. Thus ends the tale of Ursula, daughter of the sea, mistress of shadows, whose name will echo like thunder in the deep until the end of all tides…
Skill and Experience
Ursula is the fabled witch of the seas, she has a very big reputation as a trickster and manipulator, forcing the entire ocean to know her name and fear her; even King Triton and his subjects are terrified of her. Ursula uses her moray eels Flotsam and Jetsam to spy on sea creatures, even the princess Ariel as she is important to the one person she wants revenge on. She loves taking easy opportunities to deceive, she saw that Ariel was in love with a human, a prince, the very thing her father would despise. Ursula knew that Ariel would be in a desperate position to unite with Prince Eric, so she would emotionally manipulate her and trick her by saying she could solve all of her problems.
She would trick Ariel into becoming a human but also giving up her voice, saying that she would be able to get with Eric even if it meant leaving her family. Successfully making a deal with Ariel and making her sign her contract, having her in the palm of her hands. However, when Ursula realized that Ariel was actually making good moves on Eric, she decided to put a stop to it by using Ariel's voice; transforming into a human and forcing Eric to fall in love with her instead. When Ursula finally had Ariel where she needed, she tricked King Triton into trading Ariel's punishment onto him, so Ursula could finally take the crown for herself.
Ursula's magic is so powerful and impressive, even the Odd Sisters, some of the most powerful witches in all of the realms, being superior to the likes of Maleficent, went to her for her help using her own magic. And speaking of Maleficent, it has been stated that facing Maleficent’s wrath would be far safer than facing Ursula's punishments. They state Maleficent's magic is no stronger than their own, however they all fear Ursula’s magic and must rely on it. Hinting that Ursula and Maleficent are magic equals, Maleficent being more calculated and skilled, Ursula being generally stronger in magic.
Arsenal
Contracts
Ursula has the ability to summon or create anything she needs, such as contracts she uses to make deals with victims of her manipulation. Her contracts are legally binding and unbreakable, even powerful individuals such as King Triton couldn't destroy it.
Potion Bottles
Ursula has a knack for making spells and enchantments, and she uses these “potions" in order to conjure up her curses and spells. She's a witch so…she will do witchy stuff.
Sea Shell
A sea shell that Ursula used to seal Ariel's very voice, and keeping it with her in order to give herself the mermaid voice.
Magic Crystal
Tricking Sebastian into giving her this powerful crystal that even Triton feared, Ursula harnessed the magic to turn sea creatures into sea worms.
Mirrorverse Equipment
Cunning and controlling, the Mistress of the Darkest Depths is ready to make the Fractured pay with their souls. Deal broker and practitioner of dark magical arts, Ursula sees the struggle in the Mirrorverse as an opportunity for tremendous personal gain. And if that means joining the ranks of the Guardians to help achieve her goals, then sign her up. Ursula can conjure up an endless supply of loaded contracts, using them to trick the Fractured into doing her bidding.
Her many tentacles have been transformed into fearsome weapons as well, which she wields gleefully to dispatch her foes. Gliding into her own as a larger-than-life villainess and wearing venomous anemone tentacles as a makeshift feather boa, this divergent diva is larger, more intimidating, and even fiercer than her source counterpart!
Triton's Trident
The Trident that belonged to her brother, King Triton, gives her incredible power and abilities. The main thing is that it shoots powerful magic blasts, these blasts are so powerful that they could almost completely vaporize living beings. It can shrink enemies to a smaller more powerless form, transform humans into mermaids, shoot ice and create ice constructs, can raise rock formations, enlarge specific things into a more powerful form, raise ice structures, force others to bow down to them, can project images, move objects with its trident beams.
Abilities
Poisonous Ink
Ursula is half octopus, and like any other octopi she can emit ink; however the ink she spreads across the ocean is actually very poisonous.
Telepathy
Ursula could move things with her magic and even grab items towards her.
Transformation/Shapeshifting
Via her deals and potions, Ursula could transform Mermaids into human beings, making them require oxygen. Not only that, she could transform herself into a human form and easily revert back, just transform herself to have a slender and slim physique, transform herself into a crab, and has even shapeshifted herself into ARIEL. It's not short term either, Ursula was able to stay in her human form for almost an entire DECADE.
Magic
As the infamous sea witch, Ursula has an extreme knowledge of magic, she can conjure up magical powers such as creating green constructs she used to take Ariel’s voice (Non-Physical interaction). With her chants alone, she could create large amounts of smoke and blue surrounding essence.
Transmutation
To those who fail to make a deal with Ursula, she will transmute their physical bodies and turn them into polyps; small and powerless coral creatures that Ursula made an entire garden out of. Ursula was even able to transform King Triton into a polyp after he made a deal with her to gain Ariel's punishment, not only did it make him completely powerless, she can choose how fast the transformation takes. And Morgana, Ursula's sister, has accidentally transmuted her Shark into many different creatures such as a shrimp, a snail, and weird sea amalgamations. It's said that Ursula is more skilled in magic than Morgana, and even implied that Ursula would've done a way better job in using those transformations. One time Ursula conjured up a powerful spell that was able to turn every single human in a village into a monstrous sea creature, all of them forever being bound to her.
Mind Control
They say sirens have the ability to use their voice to hypnotize men into falling for them. This is definitely true here, Ursula could use Ariel's voice to mind control Eric into marrying her so Ariel's deal would fall short. This mind control was so efficient, it was even able to block out Eric’s very own memories. There was also one time where Ursula somehow cast a spell over the entire sea, with this spell she was able to mind control all of the fish in the ocean, showing an extraordinary range for her mind control abilities.
Creation
Ursula has already shown the ability to summon random items and such, but she has also shown the ability to summon sea creatures via just throwing magic projectiles.
Power Absorption
After Triton would shoot Ursula with an energy blast from his Trident, Ursula managed to absorb the power of the blast and use it for herself.
Empowerment
Ursula somehow had the power to give multiple tridents enough magic to physically match Triton's army and Triton himself.
Electricity Manipulation
Ursula, even in her human form, is able to conjure lightning and summon electricity from her hands, and she can shoot electricity blasts, that's basically just energy projection, or simply call down lightning to strike down her enemies.
Weather Manipulation
Ursula has the very casual ability to just constantly create storms from her presence alone, a step up from just controlling lightning..
Ice Manipulation
Ursula using her powerful magic was able to freeze the entire sea, yes, the entire sea. As you can see, it made every structure transform into ice and made the environment solid and freezing.
Water Manipulation
Summoned by a witch, though not on purpose, Ursula went to the castle window containing the witch and related individuals, casting her hands towards the crashing waves near the kingdom of Princess Tulip. These waves rose to epic heights, and smashed into the castle gates. These waves battered the antagonist men that were trying to invade the castle, continuously controlling the ocean waves and attacking the invaders and leaving them in pain.
Teleportation
You see, Morgana is the sister of Ursula, more importantly, the less talented younger sister of Ursula. It's been said that Ursula is superior to Morgana in magic and skill, so Ursula being able to teleport isn't too out of the question, although she can do it anyways.. just on a smaller scale, and can forcefully teleport her enemies away; even BFRing the player to another land.
Fire Manipulation
Ursula can conjure up fire spells in order to blast her enemies with…wait she's underwater-
Duplication
Ursula can duplicate herself into dozens of fish, for some reason…implying she could generally do this in her normal form.
Creation
Ursula has magic that allows her to give life to any object she has insight on, they'll follow what she wants and cause absolute destruction. She can make them spin and zoom through Atlantica, ripping through underwater buildings, and she can affect dozens of objects at once to create a large underwater tornado.
Corruption
It's described that one day Ursula terrorized a village, and with this takeover, she would create a large amount of mist; creating long and large menacing tentacles for herself. These large tentacles would blight, or infect everything they touched, Ursula left a path of destruction in her wake, black like oil, and putrefying.
Mirrorverse
A sea witch so charismatic and conniving she could make you sign your life away, Ursula is a be-tentacled force to be reckoned with. Her ability to twist the hearts and minds of others is relentless, and can enslave nearly anyone in her dark covenant. While Ursula's wicked tentacles lash and batter the Fractured, her powerful spells absorb incoming attacks with ease. She's able to keep many enemies occupied at once, eagerly awaiting opportunities to trick them into signing one of her golden contracts. Once they do, they'll be bound to aid in Ursula's defense even as the fight goes on!

Forms
Human Form
After stealing Ariel’s voice and using it to give herself a Mermaid voice, Ursula transformed into a normal human in order to force Eric into marrying her. Obviously this form is not as physically powerful as her normal form..
Queen of the Sea
In her absolute anger, Ursula used the Trident of Triton to increase his size to immense lengths. Becoming bigger than entire ships, she could create insanely large storms across the ocean, make the ocean’s waves obey her very whin, and even create massive whirlpools that will suck in anything that is near it, overall this form gives Ursula control over the entire ocean. In the Kingdom Hearts game, she can also shoot a bunch of giant bubble projectiles and shoot magic lasers out of her mouth
Elder God Amplification
By speaking ancient words and provoking ancient prophets, Ursula would bring down the wrath of the elder ancient gods to wreak unjust havoc across the foes she oh-so wants to see down and at loss. These powerful gods took the innocent people of Tirulia as Ursula’s sacrifice, Ursula’s offering. They would feed upon Triton's very spirit, his power and soul drained, and they would grant Ursula the power of the godly spirit, already a husk of his old form. Ursula, the wicked mistress calling upon gods, would be the mightiest creature Gaia had ever seen, or bowed down to.
Ursula had absolutely unthinkable power, power over two worlds that had always been separated under ancient, inviolate law. Hideous shrieks from beyond the stars rent the atmosphere, preparing the way for their singers to come through. The crowd went deliciously mad. Like a mermaid's song turned inside out, the verses ripped into their skulls through their ears. People screamed, trying to block out the sound with their hands. They sank down to the ground, and Ursula saw precious, bright-red drops of blood start to seep between their fingers. This chant would not affect mermaids, but it definitely affected humans…
(TLDR; Elder god amp that makes her more powerful than anything on the planet, including the trident and other earth bound creatures. And it has an effect on humans that causes them to go mad, weaken immensely and experience literal blood curdling pain.)
Sea Witch Queen
The powerful Trident, the powerful crown, both belonging to King Triton. What happens when you mix these magical artifacts with Ursula’s dark corruption magic? You get the sea witch queen. You see, in Lorcana, Glimmers are basically replicas of story characters, and multiple glimmers can exist in Lorcana. At one point, an Amythyst Ursula Glimmer who was released into Lorcana after being sealed, comes into the possession of the Hexwell Crown, and a separate Emerald Ursula glimmer manages to steal the powerful trident. Amythyst Ursula approached Emerald Ursula with an offer "to work together," but actually planned to "trick" the latter with said offer. Amythyst Ursula claimed that an alliance between the two of them would "be unstoppable”. However, Amethyst Ursula would betray the other Ursula, and would take the Trident for herself.. unlocking this powerful form.
This Ursula can corrupt and mind control anyone they touch, turning them into Entangled Glimmers she could force to fight for her in battle. This Ursula was able to warp her entire lair, turning it into a battlefield that will amplify her power even more, and whenever an ally is forcefully removed from the battle, they will only return to her. Using her contracts in this form, it'll mean her opposing enemies cannot use battleground abilities in combat. And using her powerful Trident in combat is already a lot to deal with, but she can also force her opponents to banish one of their allies out of the battlefield. And finally, as you can clearly tell..she's VERYYY big; probably the biggest form that Ursula has. It also looks sick as fuck, and with all of her support at her backing; you can see why she threatened all of Lorcana..
Support
Flotsam and Jetsam
The pair of moray eels that are basically Ursula’s children, they're not just her babies, she uses them to spy on Ariel. Their eyes are basically Ursula’s eyes, whatever they see she can see via her water orb. She uses them to spy on Ariel in order to find out what she wants most, Ursula of course using this to manipulate her. However there is more to them, Ursula can transform them into different forms like..
Killer Dolphins
Giant killer dolphins that, as you can see, look very powerful and intimidating
Killer Eels
Giant killer eels that are once again, large and intimidating, but can also shoot electric blasts.
Sea Creatures
As I mentioned before, Ursula was able to control all of the fish in the sea, mind controlling all sea life such as normal fish, octopus, starfish, crab, sea urchin, groupers, blennies, shrimp, iced guppies, Archerfish, Sharks, Walrus, and Soldierfish that commands a sunken ship. All of these fighting Ariel across the sea….
Octopids
A small army of octopus enemies, Ursula revived them and commanded them towards Triton's castle to battle Triton himself. Via empowering their tridents, they had the firepower to compete with Triton and his forces.
Sirens
Ursula cast her ghostly appendages towards the sea, calling forth her dark minions, Sirens. These were a hideous mix of human and sea creature, like something conjured by the most deranged, visionary mind. Pale, haunting beings with dark smoldering pits for eyes emerged from the sea. Wide grinning mouths gnashed endless rows of sharp yellow teeth. Their skin was like thin, translucent milk, and through it one could see their deep blue veins and grotesque endoskeletons. Though their song caused humans to tremble and their ears to bleed, it was beautiful to Ursula. She found it winsome, intoxicating, and overwhelmingly beautiful. If the sea witch had to let the siren's chorus continue, it would have brought death to all of the humans.
Sea Abominations
The power of the old gods, Ursula called them to her, the deep ones, to claim these humans for the sea. With this spell, the humans fell to the ground convulsing, struggling for air. They looked around gasping, and saw their fellow villagers transformed into horrific sea creatures. Now they were forever bound to Ursula, to do her bidding, forever inhuman, forever monstrous and vile.
Entangled Glimmers
“Entangled” is a Lorcana Character Classification which features glimmers, or characters under Ursula's control. Via her powerful singing and corruptive tentacles/darkness,she placed many many characters under her control; as you can see there are possibly hundreds of Entangled Glimmers. Ursula plays by her own rules and continually sends entangled glimmers to do her bidding! These aren't just random supportive roles, Ursula actually collects all these enemies in the lore and uses them for battle in the game.
Mainly, Ursula transformed Flotsam and Jetsam into absolutely gigantic eels that are much more powerful than before, obviously they are terrifying. As for the glimmers Ursula corrupted and uses in battle, she uses Magica De Spell, Captain Hook, Minnie Mouse, Bruno Madrigal, Gaston, Hercules, Jafar, Tamatoa, and the Mad Hatter; all of them having unique attributes due to her corruption.
Resistances
- Electricity - can freely manipulate lightning and conjure it without effect.
- Poison - Ursula can resist being engulfed in her own poisonous Ink.
- Petrification - was able to shape shift and move normally despite petrifying herself
- Mind Control - was able to shake off Jafar's mind control via his staff
Actions
Overall
- Became the most infamous sea witch in the ocean, her name becoming a living legend across the sea-folk
- Successfully got everything she wanted, she got her revenge on Triton, got ultimate power, and proved her superiority.
- Her magic is so powerful, it was considered more powerful than the Odd Sisters and Maleficent
- Her power spread fear across the kingdoms, making even the most powerful witches tremble in fear
- Successfully used the power of the trident, and even the Odd Sisters were unable to stop her on their own.
Strength
- With Neptune's Trident, Ursula could create a massive storm cloud (Small City)
- Ursula stated that the entire ocean would be at mercy of her every whim. (Island)
- Was able to freeze the entire sea in the NES game (Small Country)
- Her contract magic is able to contain Ariel as seen above, and could contain Triton.
- Is able to constantly generate and move large thunderstorms (Country)
- Ursula's magic infused tridents are able to combat Triton's forces and combat King Triton himself
- Her brute force was able to overpower Ariel so much, Ariel described it as the most pain she ever experienced.
- Ursula's magic and pure power was so strong, reaching every witch in the many kingdoms around the world, sending shivers through even the most powerful witches, both dark and light.
- Implied that The Odd Sisters are afraid of Ursula, which is impressive considering how powerful they are (See BTV)
Speed
- Was able to chase after a “bad luck" sea-critter from her lair reaching an underwater whirlpool, catching the bad luck sea creature by surprise.
- After being defeated by a krab..that reflected her magic back at her…she would leave Triton’s castle and quickly swim back to the lair; which is located on the "outskirts" or a "secluded" area of Atlantica.
- Her magic-infused objects that run rampant throughout Atlantica move so fast it becomes a living tornado and even creates entire storms, zooming around the castle at very fast speeds.
Durability
- Gets bitten in the ass by a dog, I mean…yeah that's gotta hurt.
- When landing on stone structures, her impact caused the mass around her to start shaking
- Survives being crushed by a large boulder that accidentally fell on her
- Her contracts are legally binding, and are so indestructible that King Triton was unable to destroy it using the Trident, Ursula even resisting the force of it.
- Survives a potion of hers blowing up in her face after she tried making a spell
- Ursula gets hit in the face by her own fireball after she tried hitting another creature
- Amplified by the trident, the Odd Sisters were unable to kill Ursula like they normally could, Ursula had the power to kill every witch across the realms, so they conjured up the magic of all witches across the vast kingdoms in order to actually kill her.
Scaling
Ariel + Misc.
- Ariel could vaporize a marble statue piece with her own magical powers
- Ariel’s singing had the power to clear a dark and stormy sky (Large Mountain)
- Could evade multiple electric bolts from the Trident's power (Sub-Rela+)
- Could outswim a large shark that was chasing after her and flounder
- King Triton creates a vibrant rainbow on the sea using his Trident
- Eric was able to cut through Ursula's tough skin with a harpoon
- Eric could survive being near the epicenter of an exploding boat
- Morgana using the Trident's power was able to laser a chunk off of an iceberg and cause a large ship to sink.
- Evil Manta was able to physically destroy the top of a volcano
- Evil Manta’s darkness was able to cover Atlantica and cover the sun via clouds
- The Seaclops was powerful enough to split the Mariana trench (Large Town)
- The Seaclops survived being hit by a shooting star (Town)
Weaknesses
When enlarged by the trident, Ursula grew to kaiju proportions; but her sheer size made her slower, easier to target, and unable to notice smaller threats (like Eric’s ship). Her arrogance just generally blinds her to practical vulnerabilities. Not to mention she thrives on trickery and manipulation rather than direct confrontation. Against foes immune to manipulation or aware of her schemes, she loses her greatest advantage, and Ursula consistently underestimates her opponents. She mocked Ariel and Eric as powerless mortals, which gave them the opportunity to outmaneuver her. Once again, her ego just makes her reckless.
Before the verdict
Who are the Odd Sisters?
The villains of Disney all have interesting origins, all have reasons for why they are villains, their stories showing their defeats and how their legacy affected their realm. But what if all of these villains knew of each other, what if they actually lived in the same world, what if magic was so powerful in this world that some beings are more reliable than the others. The most infamous magic users in this world are the Odd Sisters, they are responsible for many many of the villain's stories, their background, and sometimes their defeat. At first they seem like background troublemakers; fate’s meddlesome hands; but over the course of the series they’re revealed as architects: manipulators who twist events, plant objects and bargains, and in some cases create what we call “villainy.”
Lucinda, Ruby, and Martha, the infamous witches of the realms, wherever they walk, kingdoms fall. Princes are cursed. Queens are broken. And villains… are born. They are the thread-cutters, the story-benders, the ones who see a spark of pride or fear… and fan it into an inferno. They are not mindless destroyers. They are artists of tragedy. Some whisper that they are cursed to meddle, punished by higher powers for crimes long forgotten. Others claim they delight in the theater of it; the beauty of downfall, the poetry of a soul unraveling. And then there are darker whispers still: that they cannot help themselves. That their very nature is tied to suffering, feeding on it, needing it as others need food or air. What is certain is this: they rarely act without design. Their interference is calculated, specific, and always leaves a scar…
The sisters wield magic older than kingdoms. They craft potions that rot the soul, curses that fester over generations, and enchantments that turn love into obsession, beauty into vanity, and pride into downfall. They are tricksters with artifacts, slipping rings, mirrors, and tokens into the hands of rulers who do not realize the cost. They summon visions, manipulate dreams, and blur the line between choice and fate. Their greatest power is not fire or lightning. It is persuasion. Suggestion. The whisper in the ear that convinces a queen she must be the fairest of them all… or a prince that he deserves every pleasure no matter the cost. They never strike first; they let their victims destroy themselves.
Make no mistake: the Odd Sisters have touched nearly every great villain in history. Such as The Queen with the Mirror; It was they who stoked her insecurities, feeding the fear of losing beauty. They pushed her toward the mirror’s poison counsel, until vanity consumed her and love turned to jealousy. Or The Prince who became a Beast; It was they who tightened the curse, ensuring his arrogance would rot him inside and out, until his reflection showed the monster he truly was. Or Maleficent, The Mistress of Thorns and Fire; They whispered of betrayal, nudging her into isolation, fanning anger into vengeance until the kingdom knew her only as Maleficent. Or even Captain Hook, the insufferable pirate; They wove his fate to become the evil pirate that chased after his youth and ran from his demise. And here lies the question: were these villains truly evil? Or were they merely players, caught in a play written by the sisters’ hands? Did they choose… or were they chosen?
But if there is one tale where their hand is clearest… it is that of the Sea Witch. Ursula was powerful before they found her. Cunning. Hurt. Cast out by her brother’s kingdom beneath the sea. She had all the makings of a ruler; ambition, brilliance, rage. But the sisters… gave her the tools. They feared her ever since her power shook the land, but they also believed that she was their friend. It was with their guidance that she refined her art: contracts twisted like eels, bargains dripping with hidden teeth, transformations that turned hope into despair. They did not create her power… but they sharpened it into a blade. And yet… Ursula was no pawn. She knew the sisters as well as they knew her. At times she allied with them. At times she betrayed them. She even dared to use what they cherished most; their daughter, Circe, as a pawn of her own. That was the one mistake the Sea Witch could not escape. For when the sisters realized her treachery, they marked her fate.
The Evil Queen still chose vanity. The Beast still chose cruelty. Maleficent still chose vengeance. Ursula still chose ambition. The sisters do not invent evil. They reveal it. They strip away illusions until the darkest part of a soul is left in the open, exposed. And perhaps that is why they are so feared. Not because they can destroy kingdoms… but because they can destroy the illusion of innocence. They are the Odd Sisters. The architects of tragedy. The hand behind the mirror, the whisper in the dark, the laughter at the edge of every downfall. Remember their names; Lucinda. Ruby. Martha. For if they ever turn their gaze upon you… your story may not be your own.
Yeah this wasn't actually important for stats, just wanted to give some reference for who the Odd Sisters are as I have referenced them in the Captain Hook blog. And there will be more reference to them in future Disney villain blogs..
Lorcana scaling
“Disney Lorcana is a game where you team up with your favorite Disney characters and embark on exciting adventures! In the magical realm of Lorcana, you'll work with your team of characters in a race for prized story stars. This immersive trading card game involves collecting cards and building decks, offers fun and strategic play, and lets you play against one or more opponents. "
Lorcana is a wondrous realm full of imagination and creation, in the center of Lorcana, is the great Illuminary! Only those who are incredible with their imagination can become something called an Illumineer. You see the Great Illuminary contains a magic book, there streams an abundance of "story stars” that contain fragments of Disney Stories. Then there's a magical item called an Inkcaster, and with a page in front of you, it creates a Disney character from their respective story and spawns them in the realm of Lorcana! These are called Glimmers, basically duplicates of the original character that can only exist in the realm of Lorcana. However as you can see, we still included the abilities and forms because it's really cool and why not..plus theoretically we could make a battle take place in Lorcana as the character is just a replica of the original character, so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary considering what we're using anyways.
This is also why we're scaling Ursula to her own feats anyways, because her Glimmer is just a duplicate of her from her original stories, so it's basically just her. We see that even Glimmers are exactly like their original version and practically have the same attributes and powers, just gaining new powers and abilities in the process. Even their roles being the same, like Hades still ruling the underworld, Captain Hook still leading a ship and his crew with Mr Smee and chasing after Peter Pan, and so on. So yeah they're practically the same as the regular versions, so scaling is also not out of the question. Illumineer’s summon glimmers to quest with them as they search for missing lore in a race against time, only then could they protect this wondrous realm from powerful threats…such as…
You see the great Illuminary itself is very very big, and filled with a ton of magic within it. The Great Illuminary contains the magic book that creates the glimmers, and it contains the magic story stars that all contain fragments of Disney stories. Now it's a bit tough to see where this would get in AP, they could obviously be small stars, but the stars themselves contain stories referring to Disney Stories, which creates the lands in Lorcana itself, the Great Illuminary is generally the source of a lot of Lorcana’s magic. Considering the reference image, the “stars" we see in the magic streams in the great Illuminary are actual stars; the fact they contain story fragments would support their potency. Why is this important? Well when an Ursula Glimmer was released from a sealed magic story book, her power and essence was released throughout the great Illuminary, causing immense destruction. Her ink flooded the great Illuminary, it would corrupt many many individuals and transform them into something different, and it would spill into the inklands and shift the lands.
It was also stated that this explosion would "rock the great Illuminary”, everyone inside feeling the impact and the great Illuminary itself feeling its power. So is there an estimate of how many stars there are? Well there isn't an exact amount no, Story stars can be captured and housed by the Starcatcher and other enormous, whirling contraptions inside The Great Illuminary, and can be formed via gathering another lore. So there is a large amount of stars connected to the Great Illuminary, and is practically ever growing as it is creating more and more glimmers. With a large amount of stars being shaken via the ink explosion, that gives us a good idea of where the feat would get in AP. Being able to shake a ton of stars can usually reach the magnitude of 2.1449905e+34 x 6.309573e+16 = 1.3533974e+51 Joules. Feats like these usually get around Multi-Solar System level. Which is fairly impressive for a base Ursula, but that is not the peak of her scaling…
We only discussed the Great Illuminary, but it is only in the center of the actual realm known as Lorcana. It is important to know that the realm isn't infinite in size, it's stated to have an “edge" that is surrounded by a dark void, where the light is just gone. But this does support that this is an actual realm, not a metaphorical one, perhaps even its own universe. You see the space that's outside of the Great Illuminary? That's lorcana, all that space, all those stars, all those celestial objects within the realm. We see an even greater view of this realm, there's actual space, actual cosmic masses. We even see this with the RLS Legacy card, solar galleon, we see there are a lot of cosmic implications of this realm. This realm is full of many many stars, but also many lands and possible worlds. Many lands dedicated to the gods, to the humans, and even to those silly little toons. Lorcana is filled with lands from Disney stories, such as Neverland, the great oceans, the numerous castles and empires, darklands, and even the Underworld that Hades rules over (which on its own has a ton of indications). All of these attributes show that the realm of Lorcana has the properties of a universe, and support the description of a realm generally being referred to as a Dimension far from our own. With many many stars, celestial bodies, distant lands and worlds, and a large size even if not infinite. What does this mean?..
You see, when Ursula got her hands on Triton's Trident and the magic crown like she normally did, and imbued it with her dark magic, she threatened EVERYTHING. Her power and magic alone already threatened to create natural disasters across the realms, but that was only the beginning. Ursula's power threatened the entire realm of Lorcana, constantly saying that with unprecedented power, Ursula had unleashed her wrath across the entire realm..of Lorcana. She wanted to seize power over Lorcana, and the Illumineer's needed to save the realm and defeat Ursula to restore the future of Lorcana. (Take a shot of low carbonated soda everytime I say Lorcana..) So yeah it's a very consistent showing of Ursula at the peak of her magic being able to affect the entire realm in a dangerous way, possibly taking control over it. Considering the more finite size of the realm but everything that is still contained within it, affecting the entire realm would make Ursula in her peak Low-Mid Universal level. However you may ask, wouldn't this only apply to Ursula's hax range and power? Well no, her magic is physical and part of her, stems from her very being, it physically rocked the Great Illuminary. However even if you don't buy that, Ursula was able to use her own magic to amplify her strength, meaning her hax potency would scale to her attack potency! Hehe..see what I did there…
Conclusion
“Those poor unfortunate souls, go ahead! Make your choice! I'm a very busy woman and I haven't got at all, it won't cost much, just your voice!"
Attack Potency/Durability
- Low End (Base Ursula) - Small City - Island Level (81.5 gigatons)
- Ursula had the power to unleash the fury of the ocean and could create storms
- Mid End (Base Ursula) - Small Country - Country Level (2.2 teratons - 79.48 Teratons)
- Ursula could freeze the entire ocean and constantly create very large storms in the ocean
- High End (Base Ursula) - Multi-Solar System level)
- Was able to shake the Great Illuminary, which contains dozens of stars that contain fragments of Disney Stories
- Low/Mid End (Trident Ursula) - Upscaling Base Ends
- The Trident is far more powerful than Ursula and most things in the verse
- High End (Trident Ursula) - Low - Mid Universal Level
- Endangered the realm of Lorcana and could possibly take control of it with her powerful magic, which scales to her AP
- Low/Mid/High End (God Amp Ursula) - Upscaling Trident Ends
- The amp was said to be more powerful than anything Gaia had ever seen, seemingly even more powerful than the Trident
Speed
- Sub - Relativistic (8.2%c)
- That's..that's it..yeah..
I should mention that cross-scaling to other Disney characters is generally acceptable; whether it's scaling to general equals such as Maleficent and the Fairy Godmother, or upscaling people she's blatantly more powerful than in lore such as Captain Hook, Evil Queen, Snow White, Rapunzel and more. It's very very consistent just like the “cross" scaling in general, however we wanted to stick to Ursula's own feats for this blog, we will generally do that for future Disney blogs but always remember that there ain't nothing wrong with the crazier scaling! Some people just have the power to scale above others, while certain ones don't really have that scaling..
Possible Matchups:
Y'all knew this would happen, Ursula is an awesome villain and she has a lot to go over! You'd expect me to separate base and composite Ursula for this section, however I think using everything just makes her fights so much more fun. Base Ursula is already awesome, but her extended stuff makes her fights 10x more cool! Generally a lot of her schtick is already standard, so let's go into possible matchups for her!
Captain Hook (Peter Pan)
“"I'll get you for this, Pan! If it's the last thing I do!"
Now this is PERFECTLY thematic for both characters, seriously, the connections line up incredibly well with their themes and character nature. We can skip the introductions, you all know who the great Captain Hook is! Both lived their life being forced into a role they didn't want to be in, one person who led them to their villainous fate and these two would swear revenge on them for all the pain they caused them. Letting their hatred and path to vengeance blind them, trying to attain the power to defeat the ones that ruined their lives. It's a Pirate vs Sea Monster, Hooks magical arsenal could bounce off Ursula’s base magic, and the banter is generally hilarious from their movies alone. Read the Captain Hook blog if you want more detail on the matchup! Now I should mention, my thoughts on the matchup have lessened in positivity. I think it's still very fun, however there are a lot more issues. Firstly, the dynamic.
Like I mentioned, Hook can match everything Base Ursula could do with his artifacts, however everything after Base Ursula becomes a bit less sound in dynamic, especially for Captain Hook in a fight where Hook cannot match the peak scale Ursula could reach. Not to mention it relies too much on Hook's magic arsenal for the fight, you gotta at least have a sword fight or a grounded cannon fight for Hook, he's a pirate after all. And while the thematics are perfect, ultimately their contrasts don't make it better as a death battle, but as an actual crossover. Even when Ursula knew of Hook, all she commented was “he reminds me of..me." And with Ursula's deeper care and admiration for humans, and generally the fact Captain Hook in universe is far below Ursula just kinda convinces me that this works better as an actual interaction rather than a fight..still generally fun though!
Ocean Master (DC)
"I have returned, dear half-brother! And before this day is done, I shall be a King -- and you shall be dead!"
Orm Marius is the infamous rival of Aquaman in the DC universe, well..the other infamous rival. We all know him, the envious and vindictive half-brother of Arthur Curry. With his constant plots to overthrow his brother to rule the kingdom of Atlantis, it's not hard to see the obvious connections between these too..but there's of course more to it. Orm has many origins, some say he was a human pirate that grew up in the shadow of Aquaman. Ursula was raised as a human girl before discovering her lineage, and was always in the shadow of Triton. Orm wanted to destroy humanity because of their pollution, Ursula wanted to kill the humans that murdered her human father. Both had attachments to their true parents, were driven over the edge by their half-siblings, and swore revenge and forever hatred to them.
It's simple but it's fun simple! I mean brother/half-brother who was ousted/exiled and wants the throne/trident; great “brother betrayal + sea warfare” contrast that emphasizes family vendetta and naval scale battles. It's cool! When addressing his army or threatening the surface world, Orm adopts a grandiose, almost Shakespearean tone. He presents himself as a force of nature, with the power of the oceans at his command. This banters really well with Ursula's theatrics and dramatics, and their dynamic in a fight could be very fun. Orm himself has his own Trident and his own mythical powers that involve the sea, gaining Atlantean mystic relics that give him arcane abilities; having energy projection and the ability to manipulate the ocean. You can of course have an underwater battle and a larger scale battle on the surface of the sea even with Ursula's higher forms, having them create tsunamis and cyclones; it just sounds very very fun!
Queen Azshara (World of Warcraft)
“I know your dreams, your lust for power. The hunger with which you pursue your desires. Kneel before me, and I will bestow talents beyond your wildest imagination. Refuse, and you will be crushed beneath the tides!”
Azshara is the queen of the naga, ruling from the underwater city of Nazjatar. Once the ruler of the Kaldorei Empire over ten thousand years ago, she was entrancingly beautiful and beloved by her people. When her Highborne made contact with the Dark Titan Sargeras and his Burning Legion, she accepted his offer to cleanse her world of the impure, of the inferior races. Azshara and many of her Highborne followers fell into the depths of the newly created Great Sea and would have drowned if not for the intervention of the Old Gods. They forged a pact with N'Zoth, who saved the Highborne by transforming them into the serpentine naga, a price they would pay by becoming their servants. For ten thousand years, she led the creation of the Nazjatar Empire in the depths, preparing an army to serve her master's plans….thank you World of Warcraft wiki! Anyways yeah this is a very very interesting matchup, it definitely lets you experiment with Ursula's powers and abilities!
Both bargain with for survival/power and deal with magical strings, were banished and exiled from their own kingdoms because of their power and acts, transform people into sea abominations, command vast underwater legions, controls elemental beyond magic, manipulate the storms and currents, and have stolen very powerful artifacts for their own power. Both are “queenly” figures who fell, twisted in pursuit of dominance, powerful women scorned by royalty and contain animosity rooted in their own people and want the power and the kingdom to belong to them. Generally both suffer a fall: Ursula rejected for her form and magic, Azshara betrayed/destroyed by her own ambition, and both respond with attempts to reclaim power through darkness. Azshara’s personality is regal, cold, and imperious. She speaks with measured disdain, radiating confidence backed by raw cosmic power. As a former goddess-queen, she views others; especially lesser sorceresses like Ursula; as beneath her notice, unless they pose a threat..which Ursula could prove.
In the face of Ursula’s theatricality, she’d skew amusement with impatience, matching witty barbs with chill, measured demeanor. Ursula’s Trident and Lorcana form bounces off very well against Azshara’s ancient arcana, army summons, and old-god/void powers. Ursula tries to use deals / voice-theft / tentacle illusions to trick merfolk and hijack ships; Azshara responds by calling naga legions and tidal maelstroms, warping the battlefield with arcane torrents. Azshara’s minions can absorb and replicate the sort of “turned merfolk” Ursula uses. If Ursula reaches for Triton’s trident she grows monstrously; but so can Azshara. The matchup becomes a clash of sea-sorcery titans, controlling nature itself and transforming into many beings. Yeah I don't think I even explained how much more you could do with this matchup, it's just really cool!
Morgan Le Fay (Marvel)
“Your time on Earth has run out. Now Morgan le Fay rules supreme!"
Some of you may not know who this powerful lady is, she is the main antagonist of Spider-Women! And a main antagonist in marvel, being a skilled magic user that even Doctor Doom goes to, similarly to Ursula being so powerful in magic that even the Odd Sisters go to her for magic advice and help. She is a powerful sorceress based on Arthurian Legend, known for her mastery of dark magic. She seeks to become the most powerful witch in existence, and aims to conquer or control the world. Both are, of course, outsider sorceresses who manipulate kingdoms and despise half-brothers that happen to be righteous kings. Both gained great power but chose to go down a darker path, felt like they deserved or at least were owed more than they got, leaned into powers outside the “legitimate” order of their realms, and attacked through the next generation, out of spite toward their siblings. Ursula seeks to unseat Triton and rule Atlantica; Morgan maneuvers to control Otherworld and replace rightful rulers.
Both use cunning, glamour, and bargains rather than straightforward martial force. Ursula steals and transfigures individuals like their voice, turning them into polyps or mutating them into abominations; Morgan repeatedly uses shapeshifting, glamour, and transmutation. Ursula’s campy cabaret-style villainy and theatrical taunts contrast with Morgan’s courtly, gothic, scheming regal sorcery, and both are very strategic and manipulative in confrontation. Funny considering the fact Morgan has dealt with Atlantis before, raising Atlanteans from the dead and even creating forcefields over Atlantis, so you can absolutely have a battle through the seas. Their magic and powers give you some VERY interesting scenarios in their battle. If the fight is at sea or in Ursula’s lair, Ursula’s domain grants elemental control and devastating environmental hazards. Morgan can translocate and change environments, but doing so may play into Ursula’s plots. You can bounce Morgan's magical knowledge with Ursula's theatrics and manipulate tactics, both trying to seize power beyond their own.
Ursula might see Morgan as a kindred spirit, Morgan could despise Ursula for her theatricality, and Ursula might try to bond with Morgan over their shared pain, only to betray her mid-fight, there's just a lot of really cool interactions you could have here. Both can shapeshift and create illusions of themselves in a different form, have the ability to turn dozens and dozens of people at once into a mutated army, can create natural disasters such as tornadoes or grand storms, Morgan can manipulate the earth while Ursula can manipulate the sea, you can have Morgan's giant dragon battle Entangled Flotsam and Jetsam, Morgan can summon creatures across the planet while Ursula could control all of the sea creatures in the ocean, can summon warriors in battle, can transform creatures into more powerful forms, and both can attain much larger and bigger forms, having a Kaiju fight. Yeah there's a shit ton of potential, you could even have Morgan summon the Midgard Serpent and the Frost Giants or summon an army of demons; while Ursula summons all of her entangled glimmers with the many Disney glimmers she gained in battle. It's a ton of fun and I think it's really cool!
Blackbeard (One Piece)
“Got your attention now. This is a wakeup call to all the boring peace lovers, the half-ass pirates, the fat-headed fools, and world government. The ignorant masses. We all must answer to the hand of fate. Zehahahahahaha! And fate has chosen me TO CONQUER THIS WORLD!!!"

—---------------------------------------------------------------
Marshall D. Teach, who most of you know as Blackbeard, is one of the main villains in the world of One Piece! Once a member of Whitebeard’s pirate crew until he betrayed him and stole from him, Blackbeard went on a path to become one of the most powerful pirates in the sea! So powerful he became one of the Four Emperors of the pirate world! Blackbeard has been on a huge quest, trying to gain power via deceit and trickery, for Blackbeard wants one thing…he wants to conquer the world!! Both grew up with nothing, facing mass death, watching as everything they loved was brutally killed in front of them, and witnessing the unfortunate demise of guardians that truly cared for them. After learning of great power, they united with “Whitebeards" and spent most of their life living under them for selfish purposes.
Teach’s orphanhood and Ursula’s abandonment forge similar emotional wells of resentment. Both gained power through betrayal, Blackbeard kills his comrade and usurps power; Ursula destroys a town and plots against her brother’s kingdom. Both leverage their pain to reach heights; Teach becoming a Yonko; Ursula becoming a feared sea witch. Both are shaped by early loss and ambition; but their paths diverge in purpose, making their pitted clash not just power vs. power, but vengeance vs. dominance. Honestly these parallels and contrasts create such a rich tapestry: two self-made villains built by betrayal, one rising by cold ambition, the other by emotional vengeance. A clash between them becomes not just a fight, but a collision of broken pasts, ideologies, and methods of wielding power; magical versus brutal, emotional versus systemic.
Ursula’s main driving relationship is her resentment of her brother King Triton, who represents everything she was denied (power, legitimacy, respect). Ariel is the innocent pawn she corrupts, partly to hurt Triton. Teach served under Whitebeard for decades, pretending loyalty. Whitebeard was a “father figure” for his crew, but Teach ultimately betrayed him to take his place. That’s eerily close to Ursula’s “usurper sister” dynamic with Triton. Both feel spurned by a larger-than-life patriarch figure and take revenge by usurping their symbols of power. Ursula’s central move in her media is to steal Triton’s authority and Ariel’s voice so she can gain power above all; Blackbeard’s defining acts are murdering Thatch to steal the Yami-Yami opportunity and grabbing Whitebeard’s Gura-Gura power after his death.
Both are “thieves of power.” Both have origins rooted in grievance turned global ambition, Ursula emphasizing abandonment and being rejected by both surface/sea cultures; Blackbeard grafting himself up from ambition to break the rules. Ursula’s sultry cunning vs Blackbeard’s crude menace, Ursula is sardonic, patronizing, and theatrical; Blackbeard is blunt, greedy, and taunting. The banter is really neat, Ursula’s lines are poisonous velvet; Blackbeard’s are blunt hooks. Ursula would hateeee that Blackbeard doesn’t respect the art of manipulation. He’s crude, direct, impatient, where she’s elaborate and dramatic. Ursula tries to draw him into a deal, Blackbeard laughs and smashes the table, but she keeps twisting his ego; because even Blackbeard’s pride can be baited.
Ursula is consumed by the fantasy of dominion, not just over the sea, but to spill that vengeance onto the land that once rejected her. Her hatred metastasizes into a desire for total control. This is very similar to Blackbeard, he’s not satisfied with the seas alone; he wants to reshape the world by becoming Pirate King, controlling the seas and territories, and leaving his mark in history. His ambition is not just piracy, but rewriting the rules of the world. Ursula’s emotional hunger for control vs Blackbeard’s cold, pragmatic hunger for control. Both are defined by never being satisfied. Also in my opinion, this tackles “pirate vs sea monster" in a really really cool way. Ursula embodies the Kraken/mythic sea witch archetype, while Blackbeard is the archetypal pirate king aspirant. Their clash literally mirrors “man vs the sea.” in a very cool and unique way.
Ursula in the novel has moments of real compassion for humans, that leftover spark might drive her to manipulate Teach differently; promising him a way to overcome his Devil Fruit weakness, maybe, if he “signs her contract.” Blackbeard, by contrast, is unrelenting. No one convinces him, no compassion sways him. That stubbornness is his armor; but it also makes him vulnerable to traps, because he’ll always push forward even when it’s reckless. Ursula could exploit that recklessness. The fight becomes a parable of greed vs grief, Ursula represents pain twisted into vengeance, Blackbeard represents greed untethered by conscience. Both want dominion over land and sea. Their ambitions overlap, so their fight isn’t just personal; it’s about whose dream rules the world. Anyways let's finally talk about the fight dynamic!!!
Blackbeard's impactful hand to hand combat can bounce off Ursula really nice who's very defensive with her tentacles and the overwhelming power they offer, you can even have Ursula transforming into her human form to fight on land and summon larger tentacles and use certain magic to combat Teach’s hand to hand combat. Even if you have Blackbeard use “human weapons" like his pistol and claws, you can have Ursula do the same in her human form just to adapt. Both can manipulate offensive darkness, Ursula creating dark corrupting ink and mist, Blackbeard absorbing others into his darkness and sucking the ink/tsunamis to revert back. Ursula could freeze the ocean but Blackbeard cracks the entire thing with his tremors, or destroy many rock or ice structures Ursula raises with the Trident with earthquakes. Blackbeard's air-quakes vs Ursula's environmental control, both creating large storms, Blackbeard's black hole vs Ursula’s lasers, both creating tsunamis, manipulating the earth, and ranged darkness manipulation being able to cover entire towns.
Blackbeard could use the Yami Yami no Mi to absorb Ursula's projectiles, or Ursula uses her large size to counter Blackbeard's AOE. Generally there's a ton you can do with the fight, more than I listed, but there's a lotta potential for really cool moments and large scale. There's even army potential with Shiryu of the Rain against the sirens or sea creatures, Van Augur sniping down the Sea Monstrosities, the Sanjuan Wolf to counter the large size potential of Flotsam and Jetsam or Kaiju Ursula, and Blackbeard's Level 6 prisoners against Ursula's Trident Warriors. Blackbeard's Yami Yami no Mi can pull in multiple enemies at once with his darkness, crushing and swallowing them like a black hole, which is perfect horde control. Blackbeard could sink ships, collapse reefs, or even split apart portions of Ursula’s summoned forces by shaking the seafloor. So we get a clash of mythical sea-born horrors vs human-made horrors. It’s like the ocean’s nightmares colliding with humanity’s nightmares.
Now you may ask, don't they have weaknesses that ruin the matchup? Blackbeard being unable to use Devil Fruits in the water, Ursula not being as powerful on land. Well there are solutions to this problem! For Blackbeard using devil fruits in the water, Teach could lure the fight to a coastal fortress of rock and tidepools. Shallow water doesn’t fully submerge him, and Yami Yami’s gravity lets him anchor himself against currents and pull opponents into exposed positions. A lotta One Piece discussions suggest DF abilities still affect the sea and can be used while near it (gravity zone manipulations, shockwaves). Use of solid ground and seastone anchors gives him mobility and control. Or we could say Blackbeard rides hulls, uses debris to stay above water, throws islands of shipwrecked mass with Gura Gura shockwaves; turning the ocean into moving battlefield terrain rather than a place that submerges him. Finally, Yami Yami’s gravity/darkness can create localized pockets where water is displaced or pulled away, creating “dry pockets” or maelstrom funnels Blackbeard can use to keep surfaces firm enough to fight, or even creating shields for an Underwater tussle!
As for Ursula’s “on land" problem, her contracts and trident-rituals let her extend influence onto wet surfaces and coastal structures. She can flood plazas with enchanted ink that sustains her magic off the sea, animate tidal fountains and saltwater in cisterns, and summon sea-spawn that can move over land, material like Lorcana allows Ursula to exert control beyond the water. Once again bringing up her human form, she can create land-anchored bargains and use the trident as a ritual focus even in coastal shrines. Finally, you could have Ursula bring a reliquary of sea-power (shrunken trident shard, shell necklace) that radiates oceanic magic when activated on land; a Lorcana card or expanded-lore trope makes this natural. So yeah this fight can still work even with those weaknesses! In fact it lets you be more imaginative! But yeah I think this is a really cool matchup, of course it's a work in progress as Blackbeard has a lot more potential that hasn't been revealed yet. Perhaps if the Kraken fruit theory is correct, then this will be even better!
