Death By Blog: Aku vs Hades

“When you're in hell, only a devil can point the way out.” — Joe Abercrombie

DEATH BY BLOG

ANNIVERSARY EDITION

So uhh..these guys sorta remade my entire blog format and threatened they would destroy it and also take my soul if I didn't make a “scribe about the “amazing and Incredible feats” of theirs”. And on the monthly anniversary of Death By Blogs first VS blog?? Yeah uh, this is gonna be a long one..eh..at least the word count will be high.. Oh yeah did I forgot to mention this is the one year anniversary for the amazing blog series that everyone knows and loves and always agrees with? Please go make me some cake and I'll give you a cookie cuz I'm so nice! So, ladies and gentlemen; today we have a matchup between the most fiery gods in history, filled with rage, vengeance, and peak comedic banter. But don't underestimate them because of their peak humor, they are dangerous and intimidating forces of evil, they will rule the world in darkness, they are..

ৡ Aku

Ruler of the terrible future who will destroy that foolish samura!!

ৡ Hades

Ruler of the Underworld who will destroy Zeus's golden child!!

I'm your blog host, FMT!

It's time to see which Outbursted Overlord has the best Arsenal, Abilities and Actions to decide who will be sentenced to Death By Blog

Before We Start!

Okayy so, normally I'd say “let's use everything!!" And just move on, however considering the characters we're using and how much they have on their own, we'll tone it downnn a bit. Basically as long as it isn't too different from the source material then we'll use it, essentially just soft compositing. For Aku, there's the series, the videogames, the comic books, and the CN crossover comics. For Hades there's of course the movie, the cartoon (which already messes up canon so bleh, evens out with the Cartoon Network comics and the other comics for Aku), the novels that take place before or after the events of the movie, the Hercules comics and all of the sidelined Disney comics. However, we will not cross-scale Aku or Hades to other characters like Aku to other CN characters or Hades to people like Genie even if both are technically fine in normal circumstances because of how consistent said scaling is.

Lorcana won't be used as it just sorta adds special properties to an alternate version of Hades via an outside source (Ursula was an exception because she had an entire extended lore event that she commits herself while Hades doesn't really have much story and added context that he himself can do), and stuff like Disney Mobile games won't be used as they're generally too loose and aren't that necessary. Descendants won’t be used as it basically rewrites Hades’ character and uses different concepts in terms of how his powers work, basically a different character entirely. Punch Time Explosion and Kingdom Hearts are usually fine but won't be used as they're still taken from their respective stories and placed into a new one.

Theme parks won't be used because of their usually loose nature (and don't actually add anything, no Peter Pan's shadow didn't affect a multiverse I'll say it right now, don't apply cosmology headcanon to a firework show), and no Mickey Mouse crossovers will be used and no i will never argue any of these characters scaling to him, they're already inconsistent in scaling enough, I'm not scaling some dalmatians and a crocodile to Mickey Mouse’s peak stats just so peeps can justify some made up ends for the sake of made up discussion…also it's more fun this way! Basically we're only soft compositing Aku and Hades this time, material that's spread out and true to both.

Matchup Connections

  • Both are immortal, godly, and demonic entities that have existed before history and rule entire worlds with sarcastic, terrifying, and comedic cruelty
  • Both series and characters are based on mythology and the culture of those worlds, Aku being based on a Japanese Mythology Demon, Hades being the Greek Mythology Devil
  • Both are very anger prone, have useless minions that fail them who they have to punish constantly, and respond to any kind of failure with destruction
  • Have rivaled the Greek Pantheon multiple times and became the most looked down upon cosmic beings upon them, becoming the literal punching bag of the gods.
  • Have created and participated in wars, taken over civilizations, caused mass death, and enslaved both mortals and gods; because they especially see all mortals as weak and pathetic.
  • After they took revenge on rulers who had previously banished them and caused their villainy, they found out their sons were still alive (after they caused said sons to be separated from their family for years) and spent the most of their rulership trying to kill them.
  • They spent many decades trying their absolute hardest to get rid of the immortal hero with swords and a high sense of justice. Creating hundreds of possible plans trying to get rid of them, hiring dozens of minions and forces to try and kill the hero for them; but always failing.
  • Both have entered deep depression because of their emptiness and absolute boredom because they could never achieve their lifelong goal.
  • Have tricked the heroes into giving up by using their true loves, but right when they were so close to achieving their goal, they lost to true love…isn't that how it always is
  • Haunted mortals that were bound to them for decades, caused them trauma and PTSD, and became constant reminders of the fact they're trapped and want to escape from their cages.

History

Aku

“Samurai…Samurai…why won't you DIE??!!”

From the void of darkness there came a whisper, a breath of primordial evil, until at last it coalesced into a form, Aku; the Shapeshifting Master of Darkness, born from the scattered remnants of a cosmic Black Mass. In ages before time’s reckoning, three gods; Odin, Ra, Rama, struck down the Black Mass, but a fragment fell to Earth, devouring dinosaurs, corrupting land, waiting in slumber. When the Emperor of a noble realm attempted to vanquish it with a poisoned magic arrow, he inadvertently infused that darkness with consciousness, giving birth to the demon who would become Aku. Over centuries he rose, spreading his black tendrils across the realm, crushing resistance, twisting reality to his will. And then came the day when a young samurai prince wielding a divine sword confronted him; at the cusp of defeat, Aku ruptured time itself and flung the samurai forward, stranding him in a grim future ruled by darkness. In that future, Aku’s domain, evil was law, suffering and fear of his instruments, and only one lone soul stood between his dominion and oblivion.

But enough with the dramatics…now let’s talk about that guy Aku, the tyrant who somehow can’t kill a guy who wears sandals. In the long span of Samurai Jack’s journey, Aku spends most of his time sending armies, monsters, androids, and villains at Jack; because okay, when your infrastructure is built on evil, what else do you do? He loves grand monologues, shape-shifts into ladies to trick the samurai, spies on every corner via crystal scrying screens, and generally acts like a cosmic micro-manager of suffering and despair. His motivation is simple: maintain dominion forever, prevent Jack from undoing the timeline, and crush any flicker of rebellion. But in practice, he’s perpetually frustrated, Jack always slips away from near death, always finds some new ally, always somehow survives. Aku’s schemes escalate: cults worship him, clones of Jack appear, creatures rise, but nothing quite lands the knockout blow. He gloats, he taunts, he breathes fire, but usually ends up grumbling, “Darn it, the fool lives again?!!” like the…fool he is? Huh

As the years crawl on in the dystopian future, Aku’s grip seems unshakeable..but cracks form. Jack becomes a symbol, a legend, resistance kindles in hidden corners. What happens when you hire robot assassins and scientists that make you more and more robots? Well you get a lotta useless robots that fail constantly! He always recalibrates, reassigns, punishes underlings mercilessly, all in the name of cosmic efficiency. But for all his fearsome power, he’s one misstep away from embarrassment: Jack loses his sword, portals vanish, Aku corrupts reality itself to block Jack’s return, yet still Jack inches forward. It becomes less “evil overlord plotting world conquest” and more “evil overlord with logistics issues, mid-week crises, and recurring “why won’t he die?” headaches.”

Then comes the final act: Aku, weathered by decades of conflict and defeat, begins to crack. In the fifth act of the saga of “bumbling demon overlord trying to kill a guy in a dress", he senses Jack’s resolve is weaker, and mounts a final, desperate gambit. He tracks down Jack, regains control by possessing Ashi, and schemes to publicly humiliate and execute Jack before the world. Yet in his overconfidence, he miscalculates love, symbolism, and loyalty...he basically forgot that true love and plot armor is a thing. As Jack’s allies rise from rebellion; people he saved over fifty years; Aku’s fortress is besieged. Ashi rebels from his possession, Jack recovers his sword, and they storm back through time. In that past, Aku is weakest, vulnerable, mortal…but still a demon to be slain. And so he falls, pierced by the sword’s divine light, the tyrant’s reign obliterated, the corrupted timeline cleansed.

But wait! Aku’s defeat is bittersweet! Because of course it is! With him slain in the past, Ashi’s existence unravels, or without Aku, she was never born, fading from the world as the timeline resets. Jack survives, left in a silent field bereft of love, with only a ladybug landing on his arm; a faint reminder that even in victory, voids remain. Aku, the grand villain, is erased. And though his story has ended, his shadow lingers in the fear he sowed, in the legend of Jack who opposed him. So watch your foolish backs, if you surrender to the darkness and challenge evil itself, you will be met with the Shogun of Sorrow himself..AKU!!!!

Hades

“I can't believe this guy, I throw EVERYTHING I've got at him!! And he doesn't even-”

Hades. Lord of the Underworld. Master of inconvenient hair. Professional fast-talker. You’d think being the brother of Zeus would land you some prime godly real estate, Mount Olympus, a sun chariot, maybe even a throne with a nice view. But nope. When the gods divided up the cosmos, Zeus got the skies, Poseidon got the seas, and Hades got… the basement. The eternal land of shadows, souls, and paperwork. Not exactly the corner office with windows. Hades didn’t deserve what happened to him! Okay, maybe he did…but hey, you can feel for the guy, right? No? Eh, what are ya gonna do.

But here’s the thing: Hades isn’t the type to sit around polishing bones and crying into a Styx martini. No, no, no. He’s got ambition. He’s got style. He’s got a plan! Well, several plans..all revolving around one idea: overthrow Zeus, take Mount Olympus, and finally get out of the world’s most depressing man-cave. He’s not content to just be “Mr. Dead Guy,” he wants to be the guy. And unlike the other gods, he doesn’t play nice. He’s got minions, schemes, and a lot of sass to back it all up. Even after many plots to take over Olympus that failed, everything changed when his grinning brother had a nepo child. Hades saw a prophecy that a certain baby; gee, I wonder who; would grow up to throw a wrench into his grand world-domination machine. So naturally, Hades did what any loving uncle would do: order his bumbling lackeys, Pain and Panic, to kidnap the kid and knock him off. Classic family bonding. Too bad for him, they botched the job, and Hercules survived. Raise your hand if you’re surprised. Anyone? Didn’t think so.

But here’s the thing about Hades; he’s nothing if not persistent. He doesn’t stay down. He pops up again and again, usually with some new, half-baked scheme to take down Herc or get one over on Zeus. Sometimes he teams up with other villains, Jafar, demons, kings, you name it. Other times, he tries to sweet-talk or manipulate mortals into doing his dirty work. Does it ever actually work out? Ehh, not really. But you gotta admire the hustle. The guy treats villainy like a full-time job with overtime pay. But alas, we all know villains, secretly sad and depressed…with tragic and dramatic undertones that ALWAYS excuse the death they cause. There are many stories and myths that hint he might be lonely, unappreciated, maybe even craving acceptance from his fellow gods. Poor guy, right? Maybe all he needs is a hug, or a friend, or a little recognition. Maybe then, can Hades truly—

BORINGGG! Don’t buy it. The guy lives for chaos. He doesn’t want hugs, he wants power, fireworks, and the look on Zeus’ face when a plan almost works. That’s what gets him out of bed in the morning. Well, that and the flaming hair. So for the next eighteen years, Hades bided his time, waiting for the stars to align…literally. He'd go around, enslave souls, trick a desperate woman into being his soul slave because her boyfriend left, y'know all that junk. When the Titans were freed from their prison, it was showtime! And boy, did he make an entrance. Storming Olympus, unleashing colossal monsters, and laughing maniacally the whole way! It was the perfect plan! Except for the part where Hercules came back stronger than ever and ruined everything because of true love and 5 layers of plot armor. Oh, and Hades got punted into the River Styx. Bad day at the office, am I right?

He may not have died but..I mean being stuck in a job you hate is basically the same right folks? Still, if you squint, there’s this tragic legend to be told. Banished to the Underworld, eternally cast out while his brothers enjoy the limelight, left to stew with nothing but shades and skeletons for company. Sure, you could frame that as cosmic injustice. But the truth? Hades loves playing the villain. He loves being the snake in the grass, the voice in your ear, the guy who’ll offer you the deal of a lifetime; just sign here, kid, ignore the fine print. That’s not tragedy. That’s opportunity, baby.

So in the end, Hades isn’t some misunderstood antihero. He’s a schemer, a manipulator, a backstabbing megalomaniac who just happens to be hilarious while doing it. Maybe he’ll overthrow the gods someday. Maybe he won’t. But one thing’s for sure: he’ll keep trying, he’ll keep plotting, and he’ll keep cracking jokes while the Underworld burns. Because when you’re Hades, you don’t need redemption…you’ve got style, sarcasm, and one hell of a time ahead of you!

Skill and Experience

Aku

It's been said that Aku has existed since the beginning of history, his consciousness has existed for millions of years and has even wiped out the dinosaurs. He fought countless armies for decades, successfully defeating entire Kingdoms. However, since that wasn't enough, he opened his force to the galaxy so that he could take the riches of other worlds as well; meaning he travelled to other planets to conquer them. Considering the timeframe of when Jack entered the future, Aku had been ruling the planet for thousands of years. After Aku was almost defeated by Samurai Jack, he was able to instantly counter this defeat by sending Jack thousands of years into the future so he could take over the world. And he was actually very successful, taking over the world and creating entire cities in his image, even creating delivery services, and fast food chains. Aku is known to be a very tricky bastard, he one time shape-shifted himself into a beautiful lady and became Jack's ideal woman so he would be led to a magic jewel that could return Jack back into his time.

Then when he had the chance, he broke the jewel so Jack truly had no way to return home. He doesn't just trick Samurai Jack, he deceives an entire population into giving him Jack in exchange for a way to save their home. But he of course tricks them, and practically leaves them to die because he felt like it. One time he tricked Jack into following a path during his travels, all so it would lead into a complicated scenario where Aku would have Samurai Jack’s sword. He's also a very quick learner, after stealing the Rope of Eons Aku was able to learn of its power and mastered the knowledge of time travel. He's also surprisingly great at hand to hand combat, not only able to directly fight Samurai Jack well in hand to hand combat, but even in a mortal form he was directly able to match Jack's fighting skill for a good amount of time.

Hades

Hades is a very infamous schemer, scheming is basically his main thing other than being a flaming psychopath. One time he stole the goat of Demeter, the Greek goddess of agriculture, harvest, fertility, and the earth. Causing Demeter to go into depression, making it so the world had lost their crops and plants and would stop praying to the gods; weakening them so Hades could overthrow them all. Hades had one final plot to take over Olympus, but after the Fates informed him that he would be defeated by Zeus's son Hercules, Hades made a new plan. He would order Pain and Panic to kidnap Hercules from Zeus and Hera, sending him to the human world and then giving him a potion that would turn Hercules human so he could be killed. Even when he found out Herc was alive, he made more plans to take him out, trying to figure out his weakness. He got Meg, a soul bound to him, to try and exploit Hercules by promising her freedom and manipulating her insecurities.

And when that failed, he found that Hercules’ weakness was his emotions, his feelings for Meg. So he would tell Hercules that if he wants to save her, he'd have to give up his strength, making Hercules powerless to Hades spreading chaos with his titans. He also has personal manipulation, when Meg first made her soul contract with Hades, he would purposely keep Meg’s soul in the underworld so 2 years would pass in the real world. When her lover genuinely believed she would never return, Meg believed he left her for another woman instantly; when in fact Hades purposely made it so she believed she was abandoned by the only man who loved her. Hades effectively made Meg his slave and constantly manipulated her and caused her mental trauma, haunting her for all the time that passed and all attempting to take away all the happiness in her life so she would be bound to him. And while it may not seem like it, he's actually a pretty decent fighter. Being able to fight off a large skeleton army, and easily defeating a skilled warrior in hand to hand combat. Hades even participated in a 10 year long war against his father Chronos and the Titans.

Arsenal

Aku

Battle Staff

While mid-combat with Jack in his mortal form, Aku was able to utilize using a staff in combat to counter Jack's skill.

Dark Sword

While under his deceitful disguise, Aku was able to utilize a powerful sword in combat against robot enemies alongside Jack.

Law Book

Aku is a judge too?? Truly evil. Via conjuring upon a lawyer book, he was able to strangle enemies with the law!! Not that impressive but it's funny..

The World Hub

You see the world hub connects all of the locations on earth to make it easier for Aku's to travel from Kingdom to Kingdom. Jack especially uses it to quickly travel between lands he had already been to during his journey.

Aku pendant

Using his own magic and enchantments, Aku made pendants that basically mind controlled and influenced those who wore it.

Chronos’s Gems

You see Chronos made powerful gems that allowed him to control the cosmos. The Eye of Chronos, or the headpiece gem, can envision the entire universe and time itself. The fists of self-might and ability, the fist gems, can grasp and tool the cosmic essence. All 3 gems combined allowed Chronos to control all of eternity, this power allowed Chronos to eat space and absorb and even move the stars. However he was defeated by his own son Zeus, and would be banished into space…wow a lotta greek mythology huh? Must be a coincidence.

Now Aku did summon a cosmic being with these gems that resembled chronos, but Jack stole the headpiece gem before it could ever become more powerful, instantly weakening in power and falling apart. Even when Aku used the gems for himself, that foolish Samurai destroyed the gauntlets with the sword, rendering Aku's power useless. Still..they do look really cool on him.. would've been cooler if he kept it..

Roboworld

A dwarf robot world that Aku creates via technology that he specialized in, using it so he could the universe! It has technology that could teleport those from their universe into his capture if they damage one of his robots, speaking of which; he could also send robots to other universes so he could trap heroes to Roboworld.

Hades

Cigar

Ah..the devil's lettuce.. just wanted to make that joke, it's a cigar!

Dark Carriage

To ride to Olympus in style, Hades summoned a badass carriage with a winged creature to really show off that he's won.

Fiery Blade

You see?? Hades is actually a saint! As proven by this very book, Hades is ACTUALLY the good guy!! He's just misunderstood! Trust me!

The Plague

Yes, the ACTUAL plague, of course the god of death would have access to the plague itself. The plague quickly spreads upon entire towns and can quickly infect people.

Mortal Elixir

Hades had the key to finally getting his revenge, he had a potion that could turn gods mortal. This potion essentially does a ton of things, you see Gods are immune to the Fates strings, which basically signifies any form of death. Anytime anyone dies of anything, their string is cut via the fates, but gods are immune to this. However, the potion just ignores that, if you drink this then you essentially become mortal. You can now be killed normally as Pain and Panic would've done, and you're immensely weakened. If you drink the entire thing then you no longer have super strength or semblances of immortality, even the tiniest drop matters.

Golden Fleece

In ancient Greek myth, the Golden Fleece is a symbol of authority and kingship that belonged to a winged ram named Chrysomallos. The ram rescued Phrixus and Helle from sacrifice, but Helle fell and drowned in the strait now known as the Hellespont. Phrixus reached Colchis, sacrificed the ram to Zeus, and gave the Golden Fleece to King Aeëtes. Anyways in Hercules the Golden Fleece gives you the godly power of transformation!

As described by Hades himself, it gives the wielder the power of transformation over all of reality. With this magical artifact, Hades could turn an entire army into stone with the snap of his fingers, and transform his enemies into whatever he really wants. Turning Poseidon into a cupcake, Hera to a candle holder, Ares to a postcard, Hermes to an Urn, Aphrodite to pickled olives, Athena to VHS, and of course Zeus to a worm.

Abilities

Aku

Demon Physiology

Being a demon that was born from cosmic black mass, Aku has some very unique abilities. He's basically a living large mass of goo and ink, entirely horrific and hard to put down. As he's basically a living large goo of mass, physical weapons and any kind of damage really is useless against him. Arrows and cannons will simply stab him without pain, and he'll simply absorb them and shoot them back out. This physiology means he doesn't require basic human needs, he doesn't even need Oxygen like when he's freely in the ocean. Even being able to spread out his black mass into large forms to cover more ground and create more tendrils, and his goo being so acidic it could melt a normal blade. And as a somewhat demonic spirit himself, he could interact with spirits just like his daughter Ashi could, who has the same physiology as himself. He does have other abilities with this unique physiology such as….

Regeneration

Aku's physiology allows him to instantly reform himself when damaged, which rarely happens for him. Being almost cut in half will barely even affect him as seen above, he's been exploded from the inside and blasted into many pieces yet still reforms himself right after, instantly regenerates from decapitation, puts himself back together after having a hole in his chest, and burns down into pieces but reforms into a frog.

Shapeshifting

One of Aku's most feared and most used abilities is the ability to shapeshift, he can transform into many many different entities such as a demon beast, a flying winged creature, a scorpion, an Octopus, a rampaging bull, a sting ray, a cobra, a demon women, a mortal human form, a giant Wyrm, giant mantis, giant crab, turned into a giant ball to easily crush an entire army, can turn into dust or even air to become clouds, and finally his biggest transformation; turning into an incredibly large shape that rained dark powerful spines.

Weapon Creation

Aku of course can shapeshift his body, but he can also shapeshift his limbs to turn them into weapons. He can create swords, spears, axe’s, and other random weapons.

Flame Manipulation

As a demon, you'd expect Aku to have some sort of flame abilities, he can project fiery madness from his mouth, and can even surround himself with fire or project it to burn villages, or throw blue fireballs for a ranged advantage. And similar to his daughter Ashi, Aku does have the power to just engulf himself with flames or imbue his limbs and weapons with corrupted fire.

Size Manipulation

While Aku may always be seen in a very large form for power and intimidation, he can shrink himself down to human level for smaller scale interactions. He can grow to immensely large sizes, like when he grew so big he was above the clouds and made a village look like a toyset. And he can shrink himself to sizes so small, he can become the size of a bug and enter Jack's brain.

Energy Projection

With his powerful demon abilities, Aku can basically shoot large lasers from his eyes that are capable of burning down entire villages. These eye beams aren't just powerful enough to take down villages, they can vaporize weaker beings from existence, or vaporize enemies into dust.

Electricity Manipulation

As a bi-product of his energy projection, if he wishes Aku could project streams of electricity to rain down on his enemies.

Summoning/Creation

Aku promised these hunters endless riches if they managed to hunt down Jack successfully, despite them denying the offer because they thrive off of the hunt, it at least shows off how Aku can claim so many populations to his side. More impressive is that in Battle Through Time when he actually created the pocket dimensions, he created everything within it which included suns, lands, his own forces, and Jack's friends and enemies.

Memory Manipulation

You see Aku was able to enter Jack's mind and eat his memories, you heard me right, he ate Jack's memories. Going through Jack's personal experiences and eating the memories attached to them, although Jack survived because..he had a warrior's soul or something.

Teleportation

Aku can just randomly teleport wherever he wants, whenever he wants, barely even a spectacle.. just sorta appears.

Time Manipulation

Nearly defeated by the foolish samurai, Aku would resort to one of his weirder abilities in his repertoire. By simply opening his mouth he'll release a portal that'll forcefully transport his enemies into the future. Aku could possibly even travel through time himself as shown by Ashi, who basically has the same powers as him.

Portal Creation

Aku was able to create an inter-dimensional vortex that apparently led to a different reality that was only Aku. It would've potentially trapped Jack in this reality to be constantly tortured by Jack.

Clairvoyance

The world is not safe from Aku’s prying eyes, quite literally. He states himself that his eyes and ears are everywhere, and as seen above he can basically see anything in the world in his lair, and even alternate universes.

Shockwave Creation

Aku can use his power to create shockwaves powerful enough to take out his enemies. These shockwaves are so powerful they're capable of shaking an entire underwater kingdom. He can even create powerful shockwaves via screaming in rage.

Weather Manipulation

Aku consistently has control over the weather, one time he states that he would make the clouds of a race’s world go dark, summoning large storms and lightning and making it rain jewels.

Resurrection

Aku has the unique ability to raise the dead with just the…well he's not blinking he's actually opening his eyes, but yes Aku has the ability to resurrect the undead!

Mind Control

Via utilizing his red dust, Aku was able to mind control a bunch of cats into following and obeying him. This is surprisingly consistent, as he empowered a locket that forced Jack into doing whatever the user wanted.

Earth Manipulation

How is this the most random ability he has…but yes, Aku can raise the ground and create a large wall of rock to stop his enemies.

Sealing

Aku felt really mischievous one day, and instead of killing one of his enemies, he decided to instead seal them inside a crystal for eternity. This crystal makes you ageless and immortal on the inside, but if released you'll be aged to death depending on how long you were sealed. This is a fairly consistent ability as Aku was able to seal Demongo inside a crystal skull.

Telepathy

When Jack was trying to decide what path to take during his travels, Aku had to make sure it was the path that led to Jack's demise, moving the stick telepathically..

Sleep Manipulation

Via powerful magic, Aku was able to make Samurai Jack and other sea creatures fall asleep within the ocean.

Duplication

Via spreading his essence to hundreds of different samurai armors, Aku was able to duplicate himself into hundreds of Aku’s. All being able to attack the emperor all at once. One time he was even able to duplicate himself just so he would give himself a therapy session.

Corruption

When Jack accidentally swallowed a small piece of Aku's essence, it caused him to be slowly corrupted into Aku. Acting like Aku and physically becoming the dark entity, the only way he could defeat this corruption was by defeating the inner darkness with his good and noble nature. Aku's dark magic was also behind the Ozric Well, which caused 3 powerful archers to be corrupted and turned into dark mind controlled warriors.

Mutation

In a very cruel act of pettiness, Aku transformed a bunch of sweet little goats into large, powerful beasts that Jack unknowingly killed.

Reality Warping

Aku is not your basic shapeshifting villain, he has the power to warp reality itself! Reality warping so potent he could project himself on the moon! It was even stated that Aku altered all of reality itself and “made everything wrong".

Causality Manipulation

You see, after the ancient gods marked time with an artifact called the Rope of Eons, Aku would steal it from the heavens and use it for knowledge. When he was done with it, Aku shredded the rope so no one else could benefit from its existence. The rope was able to wound forward the history of the universe and Aku just ripped it apart…interesting huh.

Hades

Immortality

All gods are notably immortal, being incapable of being killed normally. You see they're unable to have their strings of fate cut, which dictates any semblance of life in the universe. Whether people are killed, die of old age, or get in an accident, they get their strings cut by the Fates. But gods are just immune to this because they're immortal, and their strings can't be cut.

Fire/Heat Manipulation

One of Hades’ main abilities is the ability to manipulate flames via his anger. The more angry he is, the more fire he'll spread, very literal outbursts. He can also shoot fireballs in fits of rage, his body can emit physical heat, can summon fire so he could burn people alive, and shoot giant bursts of fire in combat. Hades can also leak out lava from himself, use fire to transform statues to fit his likeness, can make fire constructs like cages to trap enemies, and create giant fireballs to rain hell on the land.

Non-Physical Interaction

Of course being the god of the underworld, Hades can physically interact with the souls that are within his domain, even blast them back with fire.

Creation/Summoning

Hades can just sorta create or summon anything he wants, sometimes even drinks just to relax himself..gotta respect it. He can even summon things for himself like a carriage with a winged creature so he could fly to Olympus, and a contract w/ skull pen to make contracts with potential minions. But that's not all, Hades one time was able to just think up an entire dark castle on the spot. He simply wanted a castle, and thought about it, and he made it.

Sleep Manipulation

Hades has the power to instantly make people fall asleep with just a blast from his hands, Hades specifies that the spell essentially puts you in Eternal sleep, only being broken by a true love’s kiss.. y'know all that biz.

Age Manipulation

Need to relive your amazing youth because your present self is old and useless and lame? Well here's good news for you! Hades can just make you return to your prime, he did this with Achilles, a hero who failed because of his fabled heel.

Telepathy

Why doesn't he use this more often…anyways Hades has the power of telepathy and can move objects as heavy as large stone dumbbells that Hercules lifted.

Clairvoyance

Why am I getting deja vu…but yes Hades can watch the world even while in the Underworld, being able to keep an eye on his mortal enemy.

Flight

Hades surprisingly has the ability to just fly in the air, which is useful when he wants to just spam fireballs in battle.

Size Manipulation

Hades has the ability to manipulate his size in many ways, whether it's being larger than an entire village or being bigger than mountains to whip entire roads and overpower Hercules. He can also shrink items, like when he stated he would shrink the player's trophy if they weren't successful.

Smoke Manipulation

Hades almost has a smoke-like presence, he can transform body parts such as his arms into smoke that can grab those who anger him. He can also turn his body into smoke, making it so people as strong as Hercules couldn't just tackle him down, and he could entangle people via smoke constructs.

Earth Manipulation

Even the mortal land is not safe from Hades' grasp, he could split terrain and freely manipulate it. Or just destroy entire pieces of land if he truly pleases, which helps when he's chasing someone

Teleportation

Weird form of transportation, but Hades can just transport himself from the underworld to the mortal realm. Hades could also teleport others away, just bring people down to the underworld via grabbing them from the Underworld, or summon flames that could teleport him to a bunch of different locations. And if you're curious, it's not just his soul victims that can be forcefully teleported away, in fact he can teleport any mortal to different realms with the snap of his fingers.

Intangibility

To avoid mortals hitting him to try and stop his plan, Hades could just turn intangible to allow his opponents to harm themselves in return.

Transformation

Stylish…realll stylish. Hades can instantly transform his appearance based on the scenario, most of the time just for fun! Hades can also transform other individuals, like making Achilles appear like the hero he was in his past, or turning a bird into a flaming Phoenix.

Shapeshifting

Of course with the power to transform others, Hades can transform himself! Knowing that the 3 witches were attending an important event for the dark fairy, Hades would transform into her crow, because she wouldn't even know the difference!

Astral Projection

Even when Hades is in the underworld he could still interact with the mortal world, being able to project his essence to mortals to taunt them.

Power Nullification

Via making a deal with Hercules, Hades was able to completely drain his strength and essentially make him almost powerless; far too weak to fend off Hades’ monsters. And he doesn't need to just do it to this via deals, Hades could also bound witch magic and make it so it would no longer work as intended.

Portal Creation

Travelling through worlds is one of Hades’ strong suits of course, he was able to create a vortex and throw a dreadful witch into it, then closing the vortex with the snap of his fingers.

Absorption

In order to release the Titans from their mystical seal, Hades was able to absorb the mystical electricity to set them free.

Resurrection

Lord of the dead how ya doin’, Hades was able to resurrect the soul of Jafar and bring him back to life so he could defeat Hercules and Aladdin.

Reality Warping

With just the snap of his fingers, Hades was able to make the Underworld look like a peaceful and wonderful place, all so he could trick a magic goat into being captured for his own gain. She was also able to warp an entire talk show and make it resemble the Underworld so he can make it his own comedy talk show.

Fate Manipulation

Ah, fate, it's so…fateful. You see in the world of magic, there exists a book of Fairy Tales. It represents everything, all of the past, all of the present, and the future. Like how a normal story has a beginning and end, the book represents the same thing but for EVERYTHING. Yet some things did not line up, the book dictates all fate, yet events were prevented before they were supposed to happen in the book of fairytales. It was explained that Hades actually changed fate, he changed events that were supposed to happen. Even lesser witches implied that they could also change the fates of others and themselves just like Hades did. They said themselves, they changed the events in the book of fairytales. There's a reason Hades was stated to have the power to command the stars (usually means to manipulate fate) and direct destinies.

Support/Summons

Aku

Oh Aku loves to send in minions and monsters to defeat the foolish Samurai even though they all fail spectacularly, in fact that's almost all he does…but let's talk about his powerful forces!

Aku Army

An entire army of Aku's that he created for his final battle to combat the other army, all having the same general abilities and using weapons such as spears.

Aku's Minions

Just some disposal mortal waste Aku uses to guard his human captures, very powerful and strong, and with a lot of them to aid the dark lord!

Drone Horde

A ton of drones that Aku can send after his enemies, there are hundreds of these bug-like enemies that are way bigger than you think, approximately bigger than Jack.

Mantoids

More robot drones that Aku sends for personal dealings, they're giant Mantis-bots that can destroy anything with their claws and firearms.

Orbital Drones

Part of Aku's space defense, they all combat anyone who dares face them, however these are not all of the robots in this brigade are beetle-like. There's also mosquito robots, which can suck fuel from ships, and there's hundreds of hornet drones that can shoot large powerful missiles.

Bounty Hunters

Aku hires many many many bounty hunters in order to take out Samurai Jack…cuz he's just unable to do it himself. He hires many bounty hunters like a bunch of bug monsters, bear gangsters, and a fuckin’ tiger with a gun.

Robot Assassin's

Once again Aku made a bunch of sworded robot assassins to take out Jack, once again they all failed to stop him, once again he vowed to return to defeat Jack.. y'know..the usual.

Large Robot Army

Aku once hired a very very large powerful robot army to take down Jack as always. You see they have large swords and…and….they can uh…they were able to…they could uh…they can also…uh.. nevermind.

Nexus War Comics

Hundreds of robot forces that Aku creates in Super Secret Nexus War! Wanting to use them to travel across alternate universes and take over those worlds with their robotic destruction!

Army of the Fallen

Yadda yadda yadda, an army and giant stone enemy that Aku summoned so he could defeat Samurai Jack, y'all know the script..

Undead Army

Jack was surrounded by an army of the undead, Aku had raised zombies from the surrounding area to force Jack into battle. Making dozens upon dozens of zombie warriors attack the foolish samurai, even instantly summoning more hoards of warriors, and a ghosty witch which was able to possess Jack's powerful sword.

Ultra-Robots

These robot assassins are some of the most powerful things Jack has ever faced, while most robot enemies he fights are disposable, these are far from it. Jack was unable to compete with them in strength, not even his sword was capable of even denting them at all. They have buzz saws, flame throwers, ninja stars, swords, and chained claws that can easily scratch and harm Jack. They even have invisible cloaking, and explosive rope that's capable of creating giant explosions when instantly touching the ground.

They might as well be anime villains, they can spawn fire around them, and just instantly create multiple insanely large explosions or shoot multiple rounds of bullets. You see they were created for the purpose of fighting Jack, so much so they watched Jack for a long time just to copy his fighting moves and perfectly counter everything he could do. What powered them and made them so strong? Well Aku of course! He used a fraction of his essence to empower these robots to terminate Jack, he even considered them his children. Both Jack and the Scientist confirmed that he just wasn't strong enough to defeat them, so he had to be amplified in strength to even fight them.

Demongo

The Soul Collector, Demongo is the most powerful demonic minion of Aku’s, and for very good reason. You see he has skulls on his body that contain “essences" or basically souls, whenever he defeats his enemies he'll steal their soul and trap it within himself, basically enslaving them. While he's pretty tricky on his own, being able to constantly teleport when attacked, his soul summons are definitely the source of his title. When he throws a skull attached to him, it'll summon a soul warrior that he enslaved, such as massive titans. He's not limited by one summon either, he can summon a bunch of varied warriors, both strong and skilled.

And just beating them in combat won't defeat them, they're still souls inside of Demongo and will constantly be summoned in battle since Jack had no way to affect their souls. Demongo enslaved thousands of souls, so that meant he was able to summon thousands and thousands of warriors and use them to defeat Jack, of course he beat all of them. How did Jack defeat him? He went inside Demongo’s skull and freed all of the souls so they would be released from Demongo's body, leaving him completely powerless.

Scaramouche

Another robot assassin that claims they are Aku's number one assassin, although every assassin says that they are. You see he has unique abilities, the power of music! No, really, he used the power of music, he's like the killer pied piper. With his flute he can move objects as large as stone, with this power he was able to create a large stone monster to fight off Samurai Jack. But don't underestimate him, he's still fast and agile, and can use his magic prowess to cause big issues to his opponents.

He can even use his flute to move pieces of stone as sort of strong projectiles. Although destroying the flute will stop this, he can just use his singing voice to basically do the same thing. He can basically move any object or weapon such as a sword and use it to attack Jack in expected surprise combat. He can fight hand to hand but also use his singing abilities to mix CQC with telepathic sword fighting.

Hades

Oh Hades loves to send in minions and monsters to defeat the golden nepo baby even though they all fail spectacularly, in fact that's almost all he does…but let's talk about his powerful forces!

Fire Summons

Hades using his own flame manipulation can just create fire entities, summoning a bunch of fire creatures; stylish aren't they?

Pain and Panic

The incompetent imps that reluctantly serve Hades, they may not be useful.. most of the time.. but they have some interesting abilities. Most notably they have the power to shapeshift into different creatures. They can turn into worms, snakes, bugs, children, a giant lion that's capable of fighting off young Hercules, normal humans of Greece, mountain lions, and two-headed dragons. They also have special abilities and certain pieces of arsenal, they could teleport from the Underworld, and have “Loath Arrows" that will make the target loath the first person they look at. They also have surprisingly good survivability and regeneration, regenerating from being shattered to crumbs, being melted into goop, and having their faces burned off.

Underworld Creatures

A bunch of bat-like creatures that live in the Underworld and battle trespassers. They come in large numbers and could shoot energy blasts.

Monstrous Hog

One of the many beasts that Hades attempts to send to kill Hercules, most of them failed…

Giant Lion

A giant Lion that Hercules also defeated

Winged Beast

Yeah a winged creature that fails to kill Hercules..

Various Monsters

Yeah even more monsters that lost against Hercules almost instantly…

Underworld Skeletons

The undead bows down to the Lord of the dead, Hades could send a bunch of skeletons with swords after Hercules in order to take him out.

Typhon

A colossal, terrifying monster born from Gaia and Tartarus. Known as the "Father of All Monsters" for fathering numerous mythical creatures with his mate Echidna, including the Sphinx, Cerberus, and the Hydra. Within the Underworld, Hades uses him to battle Hercules in an all out fight!

Empusa

One of Hades' guards of the Underworld, the Empusa is a threat that shouldn't be taken lightly. She's a female vampiric spirit known for her shapeshifting ability, which she uses to lure and consume the blood and flesh of unsuspecting young men. With one bronze leg and one hoofed Donkey's leg, and with incredibly large bat-like wings and sharp features to feast on flesh.

The Hydra

One of Hades' most powerful monsters he used to try and kill Hercules, way more impressive than the other guys. They're not only extremely large and monstrous, but they're incredibly hard to put down. Every time you cut off one or multiple heads, it'll only create even more heads, making it almost impossible to deal with.

Cyclops

One of the powerful forces that Hades releases from their seal, it's your usual giant Cyclops that's extremely powerful and causes a ton of destruction in order to lure out Hercules.

Legendary Monsters

Even more large and powerful monsters that Hades hired to destroy Hercules, y'know the usual schtick…they're strong and big.

The Titans

These powerful elemental beasts were imprisoned by Zeus, but Hades released them so they could wreak havoc and destroy the gods. There's the stone Titan which is basically a living mountain, the Ice Titan which can spit large amounts of ice across the land, the Lava Titan which is a large mass of lava that can burn anything in its path, and a wind Titan that's like a living Tornado which could destroy everything in its path with its powerful winds. These Titans are extremely powerful, they were able to easily defeat all of the Gods and were even able to overpower Zeus and trap him.

The Giants

If the gods ever became weak enough to overthrow, Hades said he would call upon the support of these absolute tanks. 24 powerful giants that could allow him to defeat Zeus and all of the other gods in Olympus.

Army of the Dead

During the 10 year long war between the Olympic Pantheon and the Titans, Hades was a very prominent figure in the battle. While Poseidon summoned ships from the ocean, Hades animated an entire army of the dead. Seas of skeletons stood on these ships, and stood on every mountain top, and every field. If the Titans threw entire mountains at Hades army, he would simply raise them again. Sending the poor souls to their Doom again, and again, and again.

Army of the Underworld

Did you really think the Underworld is only full of sad and depressed souls? You must be mistaken, the Underworld is full of thousands upon thousands of warrior souls who still thirst for battle..even challenging the gods themselves. Hades controls every soul within his domain, and he could give those who enter it a hell of a time.

Cerberus

We can't forget Hades’ most infamous support, the guardian of the Underworld, a monstrous, multi-headed hound that guards the gates of the Underworld to prevent the dead from escaping and the living from entering. Hades sometimes summons them to fight off his enemies, and they're incredibly vicious.

Flaws & Weaknesses

Aku

Even with his seemingly endless arsenal of dark magic, immortality, and reality-warping powers, Aku’s powers are tied to darkness; so anything tied to light directly opposes him. He tends to rely on intimidation or numbers rather than discipline; when forced into a straightforward duel where his opponent could match or harm him, he tends to lose his intimidation factor. Aku is a coward at heart. Despite his incredible power, he runs from direct confrontation with Jack when the sword is in play. He frequently sends minions instead of handling matters himself. In some fights, he fled in humiliation rather than risk death. Aku gloats, toys with his opponents, or wastes time explaining his plans; giving his enemies countless openings. And for some reason, Aku didn't notice that Jack didn't have his sword for 50 years..

Hades

Hades may be the lord of the Underworld, but he’s not untouchable. He’s a schemer, sure, but his biggest downfall is his explosive temper. Any insult, mockery, or setback sends him into a volcanic rage. When he’s angry, he stops thinking rationally and starts lashing out blindly. He constantly underestimates others; especially mortals; and thinks he can outsmart anyone with a clever contract. But his loophole obsession backfires constantly. Hercules overturns deals, Megara tricks him, and even Pain & Panic’s failures expose how much Hades depends on his minions. For a supposed god of strategy, he’s really bad at seeing the obvious ways his plans can fall apart. Like the fact Hades didn't even know Hercules was alive for 18 years….

Before the Verdict!

Samurai Jack feat clarification

Samurai Jack has a TONNN of feats within it that require quite a bit of clarification, okay a lot of clarification. Between feats that shouldn't apply to AP or speed, or feats that need further context to either support or object it. Regardless, most of these feats are debatable, so whether or not it should be used is up to whether you buy it or not.

Asteroid Feat

Now to be honest, Aku most likely doesn't scale to this completely, however I don't think it's an anti-feat, I think there are reasons to say the impact of Aku didn't liquify the essence or to say it contradicts any other feats Aku has had. Now as mentioned before, Aku's present form is a piece of the Ancient Evil, and he would fall down to earth and be implied to have caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. Pretty straightforward right? Well unfortunately considering the actual impact we see, the explosion itself, and the fact some dinosaurs straight up survive this, I don't think Aku caused an extinction event via the raw power; I think Aku caused the extinction event via his essence spreading across the land like we see later on in the story. The whole point of the story is that this essence is essentially a plague, it spreads and kills off any life it touches, I think that's what happened with the dinosaurs.

But there was of course physical impact as he created a crater, if his essence was “liquified" by an impact like that, wouldn't it mean that Aku absolutely couldn't scale higher than this as it literally liquifies him? Well that's the issue, the Ancient Evil and Aku in general was always a liquid. The Ancient Evil even when flying through space was in a very very liquid state, of course it was more sludgy but the movement already resembled ink, compressed together it would probably resemble said appearance. And with Aku's own power, the Ozric Well also resembled ink or tar. I think it's more likely that it drifted through space for so long, froze within space as it was separated from the ancient evil (and we know Aku can actually freeze thanks to some comics), and then entered Earth's atmosphere and essentially returned back into its original state. Those are my personal thoughts but overall I don't think the argument is that important..

Solar System Travel

This is another reasonably straightforward one to cover, so Aku travels from the earth to a planet outside of the Solar System in a very short amount of time as we see it doesn't really take him long to travel back once he's done.

Quick FMT intermission!!

How do I know the planet is exactly outside the Solar System? Well based on references of the Solar System in the world of Samurai Jack and the fact “star systems" are usually next to each other, and the fact Aku exits the asteroid belt, it's safe to say that he was somewhere outside the Solar System.

So anyways, Aku absolutely scales to this feat as he's the one who accomplishes it and then goes back to earth right afterwards. So what's the problem with it? Well..he doesn't really..react to anything. Aku knows what planet he must travel to, he presumably knows its location, and he doesn't actually react to anything on his journey. Is this really impressive for his travel speed? Yes. Does it scale to reaction speed? Probably not. But still, really good travel speed!

Dimension Creation

Let's get this out of the way, since this has been brought up many times in other Samurai Jack blogs. Aku does not create multiple timelines, the wiki says Aku traps Jack in multiple timelines but that's just not true in the slightest. Jack directly calls these worlds “pockets between time", referring to these worlds as essentially pocket dimensions. He's also not travelling through time, or sending Jack through certain points in time, Jack states that what Aku did isn't time travel so Aku really did just create pocket dimensions. Aku creates multiple of these pockets, as we see when the Aku pendents are destroyed, Jack appears in empty voids until Aku brings him to the next pocket. These realms aren't illusionary either as characters can actually remember events from the finale, and we see Jack actually interact with his environment, so Aku is creating physical realms. Jack even states that the realms start collapsing once Aku is defeated, which means that they are physically linked to him as well.

But how can we prove that Aku creating these pockets aren't only hax related? Well we know they're not time related as Jack confirms it isn't time travel (the only time related hax is via the pockets existing between time), and they are physical, so it's not specific hax that would debunk the physical argument. Although if it was done via Reality Warping then creating the pockets themselves might not be able to equate to Aku's physical power. Well we do know that Aku does become more powerful via these pockets, Jack himself confirms that Aku is too powerful between time, which is ironic seeing as Jack already knew Aku was extremely powerful..now he just gained more power. Not to mention the power to manipulate these pockets and close them come from Aku's direct essence that derives from him, which is also ironic as he uses this power offensively quite a lot. So Aku does use reality warping to create these pockets, but you can argue that said reality warping empowers him or derives from his physical power that he can use offensively. This is mostly debatable, but it depends on how you wanna view the pocket creations in general.

So the main thing that comes from these pockets is that they contain actual stars. We even see in one world that there's an actual sun in a desert, so these are supposed to be stars in time..I mean space. The game treats them as part of the hostile environment Aku created with his essence. If Aku can create stars/suns with his very own essence and physiology, then it'd make sense for him to be on that scale offensively as he uses said essence offensively and to make himself more powerful. Therefore, the energy/matter required comes from Aku’s own power, so his AP scaling to stellar levels would make sense. Everything that Aku creates is real and tangible, it'd be weird to say that creating stars is different. And since, once again, he has repeatedly used his essence offensively, there’s a strong case that his combat AP could scale upward into that ballpark. So how many stars did he create? Oh quite a lot, from multiple realms that are shown, we see hundreds to possibly thousands of stars in the sky. We already know where this kind of realm creation gets, around Multi-Solar System level.

Ancient Evil Scaling

The Ancient Evil is the original form of Aku, all powerful and ever present. But as most of you know, Aku cannot physically scale to it. Now this Ancient Evil is so powerful it's seen as bigger than whole stars, and is so strong it took 3 gods to even attempt to destroy it. It took much effort, and while they succeeded, as you know they didn't successfully destroy it completely. The small piece that fell to earth was Aku, so does he scale to it in power? Well no, that's an easy conclusion to make. Aku was only a single tendril of the ancient evil, only a fraction of its power, and Aku has never displayed the cosmic scale of the Ancient Evil.. y'know.. being a large black mass that's bigger than celestial objects such as plane-

….huh…y'know that does actually match what the Ancient Evil can do. Okay but this doesn't mean Aku should completely scale to it, sure his essence can surround the planet and is seemingly larger than stars, but the Ancient Evil is obviously more powerful than him, which is true on its own, but he was also destroyed by the gods. I mean if he was so easily beaten by gods such as the Water Goddess who simply “control the oceans" then he shouldn't be accepted at this level, right? Let me ask you something, is a being that can consistently mess with stars consistently being defeated by beings that.. y'know..created the Universe considered an outlier? Is that really farfetched when these gods can mold or reshape the cosmos and all of space? I mean this is the same Aku that imprisoned what he called "small gods” and was only defeated by an army of gods from the heavens, the same Aku that survived multiple confrontations with a water goddess, him being on a cosmic level is not that farfetched. This is the same person who stole from the heavens and ripped apart one of the gods creations, the same entity that the first gods considered an actual threat that humanity must defeat. Aku being on a Solar System level doesn't sound that impossible when you consider all these aspects, at the very least he could compare to a fraction of lesser gods in the verse, which is still a lot when even Zeus could punch out Chronos, it even took multiple gods to defeat the Ancient Evil in the first place, and it took effort

However there is another aspect that I wanted to discuss, something that I have not seen anyone cover. You see, one of the Ancient Evils' bigger feats is that it was able to travel through space at very insane speed, just zooming through space in seconds, running away from the gods and even engaging in battle with them. It's clear that the Ancient Evil actually has viable reaction speed within its travel, unlike a certain other feat. So Aku being a piece of the Ancient Evil should mean he's weaker, but what says he's slower in reaction speed? You see, while Aku is only a fragment of the Ancient Evil, he is still the Ancient Evil. Remember, as they both have similar physiologies, we know that even the smallest essence of Aku is still entirely Aku like when Jack got corrupted by his essence. But how do we know the Ancient Evil even had a conscience? Well when Aku was “awakened", he noted that the Emperor is the one who shot the poison arrow and brought Aku there. This happened before Aku was even risen, so that means he still had a consciousness and sense of awareness. Not to mention Aku stated that the Emperor "set him free”, not given life and conscience, set free; he existed already, but now manifested. It'd be odd to say it didn't have any reactions or sense of surrounding when we clearly see that in the fight.

DISCLAIMER: These are mostly debatable, of course this won't be accepted everywhere but yes these are debatable ends for Aku's stats. Whether you buy them or not depends on your stance for these sorta args. We will be using the high ends for the debate cuz, well, it makes the debate really cool!

Who Wins!

Step right up, boils and ghouls! And feast your eyes on tonight’s devilish delight! In one corner, we’ve got the shapeshifting master of darkness, Aku, dripping with malice and flair. And in the other, the lord of the Underworld himself, Hades, slick, snappy, and ready to burn the house down..literally! Two titans of trickery, each with a tongue sharper than their claws, itching to prove who’s the real top dog of dastardly deeds. Will the ancient demon of chaos carve his victory, or will the fiery god of the dead snuff him out with a smirk? Grab your seats, keep your souls close, and let the curtain rise on this villainous showdown of jazz, fire, and shadows!

Trickery

Both these villains are especially known for their tricks and schemes, but who's the better schemer? Aku fought countless armies for decades, successfully defeating entire Kingdoms; Hades has basically done the same thing. Although Aku was able to take over the entire planet for thousands of years while Hades was far less unsuccessful, Hades has much more battle experience and has actually fought many more powerful opponents. Aku was successful because everyone was far weaker than him, while Hades has participated in a decade long war against Titans that were far more powerful than himself and has faced the Olympians for thousands of years. Despite this, Aku is generally better in hand to hand combat as he's capable of matching Samurai Jack in combat. While Hades has also outmatched warriors, Jack is just far more skilled in combat than anyone Hades has fought. So Hades has superior experience against fighting more powerful opponents such as Aku who only fought mortals weaker than him, while Aku has superior skill in battle as he can match Jack in combat who's far more skilled than any of Hades opponents. Which one matters more?

Well considering their experience in using their abilities and how they use their powers against opponents, Hades would probably utilize his superior experience against beings like Aku rather than Aku taking advantage of his superior hand to hand combat since he rarely utilizes it against people other than Jack. As for who has superior trickery, both of their plans have caused widespread damage to the world, tormented individuals, and have had many long term plans they have created. But who has bigger holes in their plans? Well let me ask you, what's worse? Not noticing that your mortal enemy lost their sword for 50 years? Or not knowing that the kid you attempted to kill didn't actually die for 18 years? While Hades was definitely flawed in his plot, there was a lot going against him and proving to him that Herc was most likely dead. On the other hand, Aku has the power to watch Jack 24/7 and has already watched Jack for decades, yet for some reason never noticed that Jack never had his sword. So with all things considered, Hades does have the better advantages in this department.

Hades takes this Category.

Army & Minions

It makes sense that one of the biggest portions of the debate is where they sit back and relax as they watch all of their minions just fight for them as they drink soul soda and eat popcorned people. Aku has hundreds of disposable robot drone boards from bugs, to mantoids, to space forces. He's got hundreds of robot assassins, robot warriors, and undead armies. His heavy hitters are the Ultra-Robots which are basically anime robots infused with Aku's essence, Scaramouche who can telepathically move any object he wants with music, and Demongo; the demon who can absorb the souls of anyone he defeats and can summon thousands of enemies, only capable of being defeated if the souls are released. Hades is just as versatile in his disposable minions that always disappoint him because they constantly fail.

He has Pain and Panic who can shapeshift, spread “loath" arrows, teleport from the Underworld and have really good instant regeneration. He has a bunch of creatures and beasts he sends into battle, mythical creatures like Cerberus, the Hydra, and Typhon, and Hades’ underworld army via skeletons and souls that Hades can constantly resurrect in battle. Then of course there's the Titans which are capable of defeating all of the gods and have different elemental powers and are so big they can stomp over entire cities in just a couple of steps. So it's clear that while Aku has the largest numbers, Hades has the biggest scale with his large number of Titans and Giants. In terms of their own stats, all of Aku's army except for The Ultra-Robots only scale to Samurai Jack which puts them far lower in stats than Hades army who can consistently fight Hercules or scale to the gods.

However the biggest issue is that Aku can constantly create armies and Demongo can constantly summon thousands more and more souls even if they're defeated. No one in Hades' army could kill souls, so Demongo would just constantly summon his souls in battle. However, Hades can do the same thing with his undead army and just constantly resurrect them over and over and over again. The issue is that Demongo would get targeted eventually, and when he faces the larger scale enemies that are way stronger than him then he'll be in danger. Both Hades and Aku can just create more and more enemies and forces by themselves, but in terms of their actual minions and powerhouses, Hades’ are just way stronger and bigger in scale.

Hades takes this Category.

Powers

One of the most important aspects of the debate, considering the fact these guys drive in their powers and abilities. Aku has a pendent that could mind control anyone who wears it, a cyber planet that can teleport people from other universes, can interact with spirits, regenerate from all physical damage to himself almost instantly, can shapeshift into creatures, dust, clouds and large black mass, manipulate fire in many versatile ways, manipulate his size from bigger than mountains to bug sized, shoot lasers and electric beams, summon anything he wants including his own armies, eat people's memories, teleport, transport people through time, trap people in inter-dimensional portals, mind control people, seal people in crystal, out people to sleep, duplicate himself, corrupt individuals into becoming him or dark entities, mutate creatures, warp reality, and manipulate causality.

Hades on the other hand is just as versatile and extremely powerful. He has access to the actual plague which would infect and kill entire civilizations, has a mortal potion that can turn immortal and unkillable beings into vulnerable mortals, and has the golden fleece which can turn armies into stone with the snap of his fingers and transmute all beings. Hades as a god is immortal, and unable to be physically killed and unable to have his strings of fate snipped, can manipulate flames in many versatile ways, interact with spirits, create or summon anything he wants including his minions or entire castles, instantly put people to sleep, age people's body, manipulate his size or shrink objects, teleport himself and others, become intangible, transform others and shapeshift himself, power null strength with deals and nullify magic, create vortex's, warp reality, and manipulate fate.

So, yeah both of them have a lot of similar abilities and a ton of unique abilities. A lot of their haxes match or cancel each other out, neither resist sleep manipulation but both also have the ability to use it on each other. Hades could become intangible but Aku has NPI and could also fight Hades’ spirits. But that begs the question, how could they even kill each other? Aku cannot be killed in normal ways and requires special dura neg, even then he can instantly regenerate from physical damage. Hades on the other hand is Immortal and can't be killed physically thanks to his fate strings being untouchable. Thankfully, both have incapacitation options; Aku could mind control Hades with his dust essence or with magic, corrupt Hades with his essence or with magic, and he could trap Hades in a time portal and send him to the future. Hades on the other hand could nullify Aku's magic and BFR him (Aku wouldn't be able to teleport), Transmute him with the Golden Fleece, or use the Mortal Potion. You see, even though Aku doesn't have a biology like a human, he still has a life, he's still living and is an immortal entity.

And as we see from his very creation, magic can affect like the poison arrow that awakened him, and his immortality can be negated by magic as we know with the sword. Which means the potion would work on him and make him vulnerable to being killed. But here's the more interesting question, what about their fate/causality manipulation? Well Hades is able to manipulate his future and the stories in the book. Aku could rip apart the rope of eons which wounds forward all history, similar to the Book of Fairytales. If Aku were to find the book of fairytales then he could possibly manipulate it himself, he has cosmic senses which is how he found the rope of eons, and his clairvoyance is very very ranged. But even if we did we know Hades doesn't HAVE to follow the rules of fate and could change it himself..generally it's a pretty abstract debate. Overall both have many one shot options against each other, but it's difficult to say who actually wins it when it depends on stats..

This Category is a draw.

Stats

Now this category will basically dictate who wins the entire thing. Aku can consistently hit a city range when he's fighting mortals, of course there are higher ends that make Aku in the mountain range via his SIZE alone. However that is only when against HUMANS, he's been hit from space back to earth by a water goddess, has ripped apart the Rope of Eons which wounds aspects of history and created by the gods, and he's even enslaved the Greek Pantheon. This is your average case of “we barely see the villains true power when they're constantly fighting people that are far weaker than them”. People like Samurai Jack NEED magic that can bypass Aku's durability, otherwise Robots that are infused with a LITTLE bit of Aku's essence completely overpower Jack, and people relative to Jack like the Scotsman get instantly vaporized and killed with minimal effort. Jack himself embodies good, it's why he can even stand up to Aku; but we know Aku's power is far greater than what we see displayed against mortals.

Aku is capable of traveling to another Solar System in seconds, moving millions of times faster than light. While he doesn't react to anything, remember, his consciousness is the same as the ancient evils. The Ancient Evil is physically superior to Aku in every way, including speed. We definitely know the Ancient Evil was moving faster as it had to run away from celestial beings that could kill it, so it was definitely moving at its peak of speed. This means if we could equate the equate reaction speed and show that the Ancient Evil is actually FASTER than Aku's movement speed, then Aku's reaction speed could be in a similar range. This is mostly hypothetical, but it's an interesting hypothetical and it would be consistent to the fact Aku as a being is aware of the planets he's going to, he's travelled to hundreds of planets to gain bounty hunters or criminals…so he clearly has awareness in his ventures. As for his AP range, it's also surprisingly consistent. His true essence is capable of engulfing entire stars, even his reality warping allows him to cast himself on the moon or even travel to the heavens and display a cosmic size. But most impressively, Aku could use his very own essence, his very own power, to create an entire realm filled with stars across the entire pocket; in fact he made multiple of them. This would give Aku a consistent Solar System - Multi - Solar System range.

Hades on the other hand is even more consistent, he himself was able to create a massive blast bigger than the entire planet. Albeit a flat planet…but still extremely high in range! He has consistent lightning timing, even being able to react to Zeus's throwing speed via his lightning bolts. He survives being hit by Zeus's lightning bolts which are his most powerful pieces of arsenal, overpowering the Titans which could overpower a base Zeus. He's survived a beating from many Gods, but has also defeated many gods such as Hecate, Hermes, and even Young Hercules himself. Hades has even fought alongside Poseidon and Zeus against the Titans in a 10 - year long war. Since we know Hades is consistently relative to the gods, we know his scale is extremely consistent. Most gods are able to throw and create a dozen constellations, billions of times faster than light, once again Hades can react to the god's throwing speed. Apollo's sun could change the night sky to day and wipe out constellations reaching billions of times faster than light once again, and Artemis could create an entire moon with her arrows. Hercules himself has many impressive feats, like throwing the Titans and creating a large explosion in base, can run with and throw the sun into the sky, tear open a hole in the night sky, and could even lift up the sky. Lifting the sky usually means the universe, and considering the mass of space and everything else, this would give the gods a Solar System cosmic range.

So this is very interesting, with their best scaling and ranges of AP, Aku is Multi - Solar System while Hades is Solar System. So surprisingly, Aku is actually STRONGER than Hades. So that's game over right? Well no, you see even though Aku is possibly stronger, it wouldn't really matter as much as you'd think. Due to Hades’ immortality and being unable to be killed in physical means, then being stronger doesn't really help Aku defeat Hades in any efficient ways, both have to rely on their hax options in order to actually overthrow the other. So this means the entire fight is dependent on speed, speed determines who would use their best one shot abilities first and who could actually get the advantage over the other beforehand. Aku is Millions of times faster than light in travel speed and has ways to scale to that in base, while Hades is consistently Billions of times faster than light. So it's clear that Hades is a millions of times faster than Aku, but by a pretty large margin, so Hades would realistically use his best haxes before Aku could pull off his own. With Aku taking strength and Hades taking speed…

This Category is a draw.

Debate Summary

Aku

“For I am Aku, the Shogun of Sorrow, the Deliverer of Darkness, your new master."

Advantages

  • Way stronger than Hades with his highest arguments and scale
  • Generally has superior regeneration that makes it difficult for Hades to do much damage in the fight
  • The Time Portal would quickly incapacitate Hades by sending him to the very distant future
  • Mind Control would allow Aku to either hypnotize Hades or make Hades follow his very command
  • Aku has many corruption methods, some easier to pull off than others but would still incapacitate Hades
  • Overall has bigger numbers in his army with more versatile abilities
  • Far superior in hand to hand combat and fighting skill as he could match Jack
  • Mako Iwamatsu is the goat 🫡
  • Samurai Jack is one the best CN legacy series, it's goated…

Equal

  • Both can't normally kill each other due to their unique immortality
  • Both have multiple one shot options that make speed a deciding factor
  • Have many similar haxes and abilities that sorta cancel each other out
  • Can constantly summon and create more armies even if their useless minions fail
  • Aku could possibly manipulate the book of fairytales, but Hades could overwrite it and manipulate his own fate.

Disadvantages

  • Overall much slower than Hades
  • Strength is a non - factor against Hades
  • Generally has bigger holes in his trickery and plans, the guy has fucked up more..
  • Couldn't really kill Hades regardless, having to rely on specific abilities he doesn't use that often
  • Far less experienced against battling beings like Hades, fighting people far weaker than himself
  • Mortal Elixir is a massive “fuck you" to his Immortality and regen
  • Seriously how TF did you not know your mortal enemy lost his sword for 50 years
  • Maidenless….

Hades

“My favorite part of the game…sudden death.”

Advantages

  • Millions of times faster than Aku with his consistent speed arguments
  • Hades’ immortality means Aku doesn't have any way to kill him
  • The Golden Fleece could turn most of Aku's army to stone or transmute Aku into whatever he wishes
  • His Power Nullification would block out Aku's magic and prevent him from resisting BFR
  • The Mortal Elixir would work on Aku and make him weaker, nullified in magic, or negate his Immortality making it easier for Hades to have him killed
  • Overall has a larger scale and far stronger army that could take out most of Aku's army, especially the Titans
  • Generally more experienced in combat and has fought many more beings similar to Aku, who mostly intimidates beings far weaker than himself
  • Has actually attracted women…
  • One of the best Disney villains EVER…

  • Generally weaker than Aku
  • Needs to rely on pieces of his arsenal that are a smidge hard to access in order to incapacitate or kill Aku
  • Can't normally kill or damage Aku much due to his superior regeneration
  • Would lose in hand to hand combat due to Aku matching Jack's combat skill
  • Pain and Panic are idiots…and probably bring down Hades side
  • We already know his disadvantage is..

Conclusion

So this was an extremely interesting and close debate, while they matched each other in many ways, they also had many advantages! Hades was definitely trickier, had less holes in his plans, and had much more experience against battling people like Aku. However Aku also generally has superior hand to hand combat experience and was able to take over multiple worlds, unlike Hades who rarely succeeded in taking over Olympus. While Aku's minions had larger numbers and had superior abilities especially with demons like Demongo, Hades' were far more powerful and way bigger than Aku's entire army. Both had many similar abilities and both had many one-shot options that could negate their impressive immortalities. Aku may have been stronger yet but it did not matter in this debate, while Hades was faster and was able to pull off his options before Aku could pull off his own. This meant Hades could power null and BFR, negate his Immortality, and transmute Aku faster than Jack yells out “Aku!" The deliverer of Darkness was extremely powerful, had insane numbers, and his haxes were plentiful…but Hades was faster, had bigger backing, and had the perfect opportunities to land the perfect incap hit! Hades had one hell of a victory, but Aku was a fool to think he could come out on top!

Hades has escaped this deadly fate and is tonight's winner

Aku on the other hand, has been sentenced to Death By Blog

Hades is our Champion!

But wait, there's more!!

Since this is still a special occasion, why not discuss more matchups from both series! I love Samurai Jack and I love Hercules, so I wanna take this time to talk about matchups for the amazing characters from both! And just discuss the general popular matchups of these series!

Samurai Jack

Aku vs HIM

Ah, the cartoon network villain classic! The battle between the demons and kings of darkness that want to take over the planet, destroy everything, and defeat the pathetic mortals that try and defeat them. Aku's ability to corrupt individuals with HIM’s possession could create a really cool fight dynamic, both can shoot lasers, are elastic in combat, manipulate their size and become absolute giants, and can of course shapeshift. Oh man they constantly shapeshift into many many many different things, between animals, bugs, monsters and beasts, and just really anything they want. The banter is very fun, both being fun and theatric yet absolutely terrifying at the same time…generally my favorite alt for Aku!

(Fanart by MonkeyBoi)

Aku vs the Lich

Well this will be a controversial one innit…oh well. The Lich, the voice of death, the call of darkness and the blackest parts of the infinite void. These two cartoon network villains are incarnations of evil itself, crashing onto earth, causing mass death, and being sealed by rulers…until they returned and fought a young hero with a sword and became their absolute nightmare! Now the thematics are fine and simple, it's a vibey matchup that compares two absolute demons. So my issue? I don't really want something simple for the Lich, the thematics start at his origin but unfortunately don't really expand upon everything else about his character, his goals, his impact and what makes him an incredibly unique cartoon villain. He's a very abstract and conceptual villain…y'know thematically not literally.

I'm not the biggest fan of how their usual tone and aesthetic contrast, Aku can sometimes match Lich's more tame moments while Lich has never really bounced well off someone like the Lich..his whole thing is that he turns comedy into horror…while Aku turns horror into comedy and jokes even during the most serious and dramatic scenes. I personally don't think that blends well, especially if it doesn't take advantage of their best traits. I'm also personally not the biggest fan of the fight dynamic, a character so big, with so many numbers, and with such a high scale against the Lich isn't what I necessarily want…Lich does have a Kaiju form but i don't know how I feel about an Aku fight that only makes him gigantic for a climax. That being said these are only personal issues, I can definitely understand the massive love for the matchup and respect the pitches, the fanart, and all the massive support for it!

Scotsman vs Demoman

Perfect…perfect..down to the last minute detail, it's just perfect. I don't need too many words for this, a crazy battle between the crude Scottish bastards with lots of firepower to offer. So much yelling, so many explosions and bullets, sword action, with incredibly fun banter and incredibly fun interaction potential. This is a matchup of a few words, and they're all incredible worlds.

(There's no fanart..make some!!)

Samurai Jack vs Afro Samurai

Another classic, even after many years the Death Battle episode was still great, along with this matchup. It's just a pure vibe and makes a ton of sense, badass samurai warriors that fight in a futuristic setting surrounded by guns and tech and modern swag. Both dedicate their lives fighting for vengeance, defeating the rulers that killed their fathers once and for all. Both struggling with their trauma and mental instability, turning into killers and literally going crazy…even interacting with figments of their imagination. The fight is really cool, between two insanely skilled samurai with incredible sword skill and lots of powerful notions, and the BLOODDDD, the blood is awesome! Yeah the episode showed why this is generally a really cool matchup even to this day.

(Just watch the Death Battle!)

Samurai Jack vs Guts

Now you can make sense of this matchup right away, there's a lot of similarities between the two. Both are wandering warriors that seek revenge against powerful godly beings, going through trauma, experiencing trauma, witnessing trauma, trauma trauma trauma..this is trauma the matchup! Lonely journeys facing many enemies and gaining many allies, although fear of losing the people close to them. Both are incredibly resilient, getting back up from all the physical and mental damage brought upon them. Constantly fighting and constantly learning from their trauma, battling demons and incarnations of evil itself. Now it makes a lotta sense, although it's not my favorite for both. Guts’ journey is generally way more brutal and tragic, while Jack's is full of serenity and finding peace within himself. I'm not completely sure about the banter between them and I'm not entirely sure about the fight dynamic between their fighting styles.

Samurai Jack vs Shredder (IDW)

Now this is actually a Samurai Jack matchup I personally made and I think it's really neat! This is a contrast matchup, hero vs villain and all..but it's a really really thematic one! Jack and Oroku Saki are immortal men out of time, originating in ancient samurai culture until being brought to a modern world, via time displacement and resurrection. Their entire world was taken by their opposing rivals, watching as their homes collapse, seeing everything fall and vowing revenge. They wanted to defeat their enemies, avenge their honor, and restore their worlds. However, Jack channels his vow into protection: he trains with many masters to grow in wisdom and skill, resisting hatred as much as possible. His quest is to save, but Shredder on the other hand channels his vow into domination: every decision reaffirms his hatred and lust for power. His quest is to enslave.

Shredder is the type of entity Jack wants to defeat, Jack is the type of warrior that Shredder wants to destroy. Shredder to Jack, is Aku if he actually had emotion and similar struggle. Jack to Shredder, is Splinter if he had a similar journey of restoration and hatred. Jack is what Shredder could have been if he chose mercy over hate. Shredder is what Jack could have become if he gave into hatred after Aku broke his family. Both are rooted with codes of samurai honor, righteous restraint vs corrupted supremacy. Of course they're also defined by their cycles, cycles of violence, the loss of their family/clan, revenge, and the consequences of this path. They're both trapped in worlds that are unfamiliar, trapped in lands that aren't their own, trapped in unending torment and pain.

Both have extremely heavy story arcs, facing past selves, destiny, and confronting their sense of meaning. This battle is more than awesome and badass (cuz seeing Samurai Jack fight the Shredder is fucking awesome) it's also metaphysical and spiritual, with tons of thematic moments. Both stories revolve around hatred, Jack is a warrior that rejected his hatred and didn't let him consume him, while Oroku Saki let it dictate him and control him. Jack is defined by Aku but strives to transcend hatred; Shredder is defined by Yoshi and can never let go.

They ironically also have twists in their stories, Jack spent decades losing himself to violence and losing his honor, while Saki found some form of peace and tried being a family figure and a mentor…but as much as they tried they couldn't fight their natures. In the end, they walked a spiritual journey, confronting their sins and their cycle of hatred. They had peaceful ends.. achieving personal peace. All of these aspects makes the fight extremely cinematic, extremely thematic, and makes banter and interactions between them EXTREMELY interesting!

Now the fight dynamic, ohh it's awesome! IDW Shredder does have an army……that's Jack speciality. Jack is a one man army himself, he's defeated HUNDREDS of enemies by himself, defeating giant robots and bounty hunters, and fighting entire armies is nothing new for ol’ Jack. There's also moral dilemmas with Jack fighting humans and mutated people, it creates very cinematic moments on its own. A samurai warrior that can fight entire armies alone vs a samurai warlord who leads entire armies?

It's awesome as hell. But Shredder can also match Jack very well in hand to hand combat, his claws, armor and martial skill matches Jack's agility and style towards being more agile against a brutal opponent. Both are fast, have great reflexes, and have arsenal diversity. They also have really cool magical effects and weapons, you could use their semblance of magic very well in the battle especially with Jack's elemental abilities. Yeah it's a really really cool Jack matchup!!

(By..me! Cuz I made it..)

Hercules

Hades vs the Devil

This is probably my favorite alt matchup for both! And for good reason, it's a lotta fun! Both are the rulers of the underworld and their job is to collect souls, however they also chase after young souls and try as hard as they could to defeat them once and for all. They're sly and devilish, cunning, and very jazzy! Prone to anger and spreading flames of rage, and with useless impish minions, including large forces they've attempted to send forward to destroy the young heroes…of course they all failed embarrassingly. Both make deals and they always fuck over those who made the deal! Their personalities definitely banter off each other really well and the fight is a lotta fun! Whether they summon demons and souls, become giants, or spread chaos!

(Rap Battle by Titanium1208)

Hercules vs Maui

This is a vibey matchup, mythology heroes that are adapted into Disney powerhouses! Now I can definitely appreciate the simplicity behind it, they're demi-god heroes trying to prove that they're really heroes. Unfortunately I don't think this goes into their stories that well, their themes and their development. How Hercules accepted himself and his role as a human learning that he's a god. And Maui being desperate for love and attention, becoming selfish because of it, and learning how to be selfless for the people he wants to save. The dynamic sounds fine but yeah it's mostly a vibey matchup, and I understand the fun aspects of it so cool!

(Fanart by Alpha Baymax)

Hercules vs Zagreus

So…this weirdly makes a lot of sense. Both are the demi-god sons of gods, one being the son of Zeus and the other being the son of Hades…yeah that's hilarious on its own. Living in a world below Olympus, dedicating their journey towards trying to join their family in heaven. Both are polite, kind, and quite charming…yes they're very cool silly billies. These personalities would create really fun banter potential, both are classical Greek heroes that have traits such as determination, resilience, and a focus on personal freedom, even as they cause disruption and collateral damage. Despite making it to heaven, they would return to their home and dedicate themselves to protecting it! But what about the fight dynamic?

Both were trained by very knowledgeable mentors, Hercules being trained by Phil who trained Achilles…who trained Zagreus. Now you may assume the dynamic is one sided with Zagreus being able to harness the form and powers of different mythological beings and God's, although I think it makes things more fun! Hercules, a hero who's fought almost every kind of mythological monster and dealt with every Greek God even against threats who could completely overpower them.. seeing Hercules in familiar territory against an opponent who can embody them sounds very fun. Zag’s fate abilities aren't an issue either, a big factor of Herc’s story is that even the fates couldn't predict his outcome and he directly objected to it. If anything it would be a really cool interaction idea, both utilize blades, shields, bows, and etc.

Zagreus using the twin fists of Malphon to counter Hercules’ immense power and strength also sounds really cool, and Herc's scale could definitely bounce off everything Zag could do. And don't worry, Herc isn't just some brick wall that Zag will fight, he actually does have a good amount of abilities on his own. In his god form, Herc has forcefields, energy projection and other properties. Hercules also has action figures which could increase his energy, and Herculade cups which could replenish his energy. Herc also has the gifts of the gods, such as the Lightning Sword which shoots lightning any direction Hercules aims, Fireball Sword which shoots fireballs that seek out onscreen enemies, and the Sonic Sword which could shoot circular Sonic blasts. He also has a helmet that makes him invincible to damage, and has fought many versatile fighters and dealt with other Demi-gods, he's even utilized Zeus’ lightning bolts. It's just fun!!

(Fanart by mbrleigh)

The “Hellish" Triangle

That's right, it's a triangle!! No I'm not proposing we do an entire royale…I mean you could if you want to honestly..sounds kinda fun. Both of these matchups are a lotta fun! Hades vs Aku, Hades vs Hades, they both have cool aspects! Both Aku and Kid Icarus Hades are ancient, godlike demons who revel in mocking their foes and those that are beneath them, using pawns such as Jack and Pit to keep themselves entertained, and they're manipulative masterminds. Both are absolute powerhouses that are also very theatrical and taunting! Energy blasts, large-scale destruction, regeneration, army summoning, it's a fun dynamic! There's also giant monster forms, and the ability to warp their very lands. They basically embody evil that can never die, persistent and unkillable, it's cool!

As for Hades vs Hades, well y'know the enjoyment is already there. Two rulers of the underworld trying to defeat Greek heroes, rooted in Greek Myth with great comedic incarnation. They're eternal, manipulative, and if you use Mirrorverse…they both lead the entire Underworld as an army! They manipulate souls, can resurrect allies, create monsters, and they HOT! As in they're literally covered in flame…the fight dynamic is cool too! Fire giants, mass darkness and environmental damage, a BUNCH of flames, Portal travel, energy projection, this matchup is REALLY cool if you want to use a Fully Composite Hades using Kingdom Hearts and Mirrorverse! Overall both of these matchups are really cool alts for both Aku and Disney Hades, which one you prefer is your choice! Also Kid Icarus Hades has forms that fit both aesthetically…

(Surprisingly neither have fanart…)
