Santa Claus: Marvel's jolly and festive gift giver, with a magical and mutations history..

Santa Claus: DC’s seasonal Christmas legend, and infamous Asgardian Wizard..

You know me, FMT

And it's time to see which Winter Wizard has the best Arsenal, Abilities and Actions to find out who will be sentenced to Death By Blog

Before We Begin

Ah, my first Marvel vs DC blog and with the help of Round 1 Fight....this will be interesting. We can have a lot of fun with this one, so we shall be using everything in their respective comic book history. While Marvel has one main universe which is the focus, Santa does appear in other universes and they're basically the same as the main one lol..so those stories involving Santa are more like What Ifs. As for DC, basically everything in the main universe is canon, even from those continuity resets, all canon. And while they both have a lot of inconsistencies with their identities, we're basically just comping them lol. So yeah this won't be too complicated to really discuss…

Background

Santa Claus

“C'mon, Bailey! Let's deck this guy's halls!"

You better watch out, and you’d better not cry. You sure as shootin’ better not pout, and I’ll tell you why; Santa Claus is comin’ to town! Except we’re not talking about Tim Allen or Rise of the Guardians Santa, we’ll be looking at Marvel’s version of ol’ Kris Kringle, and all the jolly amounts of joy he has brought to the world. Santa is many things here, like the patron saint of judges, paupors, sailors, bakers, travelers, etc, and friend/protector to anyone in trouble. He was born in 4th-century Lycia near the coast of what is now Turkey, and eventually became the bishop of Myra. His love of children, kindness, charity, and the miracles attributed to him are all legendary, and he was present at the Council of Nicaea in 325 A.D; imprisoned for his faith by Emperor Diocletian. He saved 3 wrongly accused soldiers from execution by appearing to Emperor Constantine in a dream, rescued 3 sailors from a storm, and restored 3 children to life after they were beheaded. His most famous story had him help 3 young sisters who could not marry because their father couldn’t pay the dowry. So, he tossed bags of gold into their house due to being shy, and on the 3rd night of this the Nobleman kept watch, seeing him climb on the roof and drop the bags down the chimney. Eventually stories of him spread, and he was made the patron saint of Russia hundreds of years later.

With these legends, it’s understandable some could see him as a manifestation of Odin, given Asgard’s All-Father once underwent a similar trip, but Santa’s own precise origins are inconsequential. In reality, he is actually a magical being composed of traits from all of his legends due to humanity’s collective belief in these figures, which merged with spiritual energy and aspects of the beings themselves, giving him form as a manifestation of the literal spirit of giving in relation to Christmas and relevant holidays. With elves descended from Altheim and his legendary sleigh, Santa is pulled by reindeer across the world, bending time and space to deliver toys for every good boy and girl across the entire planet in a single night. You know him as St. Nicholas, Kris Kringle, or any other legendary name for this monument of the season, and we all know the same. He is Santa Claus, and come Christmas Eve, he has work to do.

Santa Claus

“As you're about to see, giving brings its own rewards. Merry Christmas, Neron."

Santa Claus, Kris Kringle, Nicholas Claus, Saint Nick, Father Winter; Santa Claus as a figure has many many names. The DC universe is full of many magical beings, powerful wizards, and figures of hope. But you may call Santa Claus the original spirit of hope and wonder, he's been alive for thousands of years, delivering presents to those who are nice. Now what does such a man come from? Well Father Christmas has many many stories about his origins. Agios Nikolaus was born in A.D 270 in Patara, Lycia. He was appointed as Bishop of Myra, there he earned an infamous reputation for Charity, Benevolence, and Gift-Giving. Not to mention he was giving away miracles like Fruit Cakes, like resurrecting dead children, and this made people see him as a Saint. Although he had unfortunately “died" and his past remains were buried, his status had him renamed as Saint Nicholas or…Santa Claus. But as the man himself, Constantine states, Christmas has true magic, believing it makes it true, thanks to Santa being a folk icon of mythic proportions. It's a lot of belief, and a lot of power, Santa's Christmas spirit basically lives on because of his myth.

There's another story about Santa being a Scandinavian Viking/Mighty woodsman, and he would roam the wilds or Asgard into our world. He would battle, answer prayers and become a hero that would kill monsters, and would tame Beasts all over the Northlands. Or that he's an alien from another planet which was destroyed, where he would land on our planet, be raised by our kind, and learn that people suffer, and he wanted to bring along world peace. So he became a national legend that would spread as much love and kindness as possible throughout the world. Well no matter the story, Santa Claus has been a very important figure throughout the years, and is always willing to help our heroes whenever they need him. He helped Superman stop the Toymaker from rolling out dangerous toys, he helped Hal Jordan when he was in a rough patch as the Spectre, and he even joined the Justice League. The Jolly Ol' Elf will always be there for all those who need his help, and he will always have a truly cheerful Christmas Spirit. Even now, Saint Nick is helping our heroes defeat mythical creatures in order to save the world, and Christmas once more. Just like Christmas, Santa Claus will always be here as long as we stand heart to heart and hand in hand…

Skill and Experience

Santa Claus

You’d think Santa is a frail, fat old man, right? Well, just from the picture above, you’d be DEAD wrong. He has been doing his job of delivering presents across the world for years, and oh so many at that. He was noted to have fought the demon Krampus a century ago, and as mentioned in his backstory, he is composed of the aspects of all versions of himself over the years due to a collected belief mixed with spiritual energy. As Marvel guidebooks have detailed, Santa was present at the Council of Nicaea in 325 A.D, making him just shy of 1,700 years old with no signs of slowing down.

He’s no novice in the means of combat either, like entering simple fist fights with posers, or his encounters with master martial artist and Merc, Deadpool, who he has both matched and defeated. He’s utilized plenty of firearms alongside Howard the Duck to save Christmas from Hydra after they tried jacking the Santa Claus™ trademark, and proved quite the master of the staff when battling the demon spawn of Krampus. Speaking of, Krampus matched and even defeated Daimon Hellstrom, the actual son of Satan (or Marvel’s anyway) which should tell you outright how skilled a warrior mage Santa is.

Santa Claus

Now you may be thinking, oh he's an old guy with a big build, how is he so fit and agile? Well Saint Nick must prepare and train for Christmas night, he usually trains on his own gymnasium chimney course. It should also be mentioned that Santa Claus is 1,600 years old, and has had lots of combat experience. He's also very smart and crafty, he's made lots of toys and weapons in the past and is comparable to his elves when it comes to using gadgets. He is so experienced at what he does, he literally knows the name of every girl, boy, and otherworldly alien that is good and nice. He's always coming up with a plan, and teaming up with the greatest heroes to pull them off.

As stated above, Santa helped train and Mentor Bruce during his training years, and we all know how well trained Batman is. He had spent many many MANY years battling monsters, taming beasts and roaming Asgard/Our own world as a hero. He's very very experienced in combat, he battled the Dreaded Lobo, the powerful Black Adam, and a centuries old powerful knight. He helped save the Justice League from an evil threat, battled his old friend Krampus, and visits Apokalypse every single year and bridges their defenses just to deliver Darkseid some coal. Santa Claus is a very old figure, and he will continue to deliver presents to all the children in the world, while maybe fighting monsters too..

Arsenal

Santa Claus

Sleigh

Santa would be nowhere without his classic method of traversing the world in one night, and this legendary sleigh should speak for itself. He’s flown in several versions over the years, like the old classic, a gas powered one, or even a super van equipped with the latest technology, like a warp drive to explain his crazy speed. No matter the sleigh, all of them can move at least in speeds faster than most anybody can detect, and apparently travel in the same ethereal plane as an Angel of Death.

Sack

Armed with the coal for “Naughty” children, Santa can use his sack like a cannon to fire volleys of this with ease. In actuality, this is really a dimensionally limitless sack for toys, and apparently a legitimate tesseract. Therefore, he can carry whatever he wants in there, and however much of it he wants. Of course, he can still run out of anything as a source, but it is useful nonetheless.

Staff

Shown primarily in the Power Man and Iron Fist Sweet Christmas Special, Santa is actually quite the master of the staff, and used it to take down several minions of Krampus, as well as the demon himself in both past and present. It appeared to even create shockwaves, and can likely act as a conduit for his impressive magic, so it is quite the handy tool all things considered.

Miscellaneous Gear

Mr. Claus has, of course, used a few more miscellaneous weapons over the years, which will be listed here.

Santa Claus

Sleigh

Santa always needs his sleigh in order to deliver presents around the world in only one night. Unfortunately, his reindeer have become sick or Ill on multiple occasions. Who could save Christmas by carrying the sleigh themselves? Superman himself of course! And this sleigh is very tough too, even when Superman thought he would crash through the sleigh, he said that he fell as light as a feather. As Santa states, this sleigh carries the hopes and dreams of a world full of children.

“Delicious Candies”

These chocolate delites may seem utterly scrumptious, but they're not as trusting as they seem. It was able to put Santa Claus to sleep momentarily, and it's laced with a drug that would cause Fatty tissue to multiply at a miraculous speed! Making it so Santa was too big to deliver presents and be slowed down.

Toys

Santa Claus doesn't just come packing with his Christmas Hands, he has a bunch of toys that can fight for him just in case things get a little too overwhelming. He used these toys to take care of Toys made by the Toymaker.

Humbug

Sorry you had to see that..

This little bug right here is called a Humbug, if it gets into your ear then it'll make you go insane..or at least more insane. It will cause you to sing very merry Christmas songs, and there's no real way to deal with this unless you have Candy to take it out.

Ripoff Cerebro

This device allows Santa to look throughout the world. He can see when you're sleeping and awake, he can see when you're naughty or nice, and he can see villainous acts happen simultaneously.

Elf-O-Matic Cloning Unit

This very much implies that Santa uses this machine to constantly make more and more elves. That way he'll always have backup and will have a constant army to help him make toys or fight.

Toy Soldiers

These Toys Soldiers aren't just used for accidentally stepping on them and doing the Peter Griffin pose. These soldiers can actually artillery and can shoot about with cannons and guns if Santa is threatened by you.

Fruitcake

Ever wonder how Santa can easily go through homes that are bridged with defenses? Simple, Fruitcake!

Radio Station

In case of needed emergencies, Santa has a radio station where he can call for Superman. Thankfully Superman always responds to the calling and arrives in only a few minutes!

Blades

Santa isn't new to combat, or slicing people up in his youth. They're of course very strong, and they're very good at doing damage against similarly powerful foes such as Lobo.

Warheads

Why does Santa Claus have hundreds to thousands of nuclear warheads in his inventory? Well all that craftiness and inventive creativity has gotta go somewhere else besides toys right..

Crossbow

Need to go huntin’ for vampires? Santa always comes with a Crossbow in order to quickly take out anything that attempts to take him out.

Sweet Axe

Wow, that is a REALLY sweet Axe. Powerful enough that Robotman would Gladly use it in combat. I guess Santa has some kind of hammer space that allows him to pull out any weapon he needs?

Touchstone

Santa Claus has access to a gem called the Touchstone. This stone is capable of trapping whatever it's focused on inside a space between realms, and said monsters would be sealed inside inescapable worlds such as the Phantom Zone.

Abilities

Santa Claus

Mutant Physiology

As it turns out, Marvel’s Santa is actually a Mutant, and therefore a bearer of the X-Gene, a 24th Chromosome in the human body that allows this evolved new species any number of insane superpowers. Santa has both implied he is a Mutant, and been confirmed as one by the scanners of Cerebro, which guidebooks reaffirm. In fact, he is apparently “the most powerful Mutant ever registered,” which sounds completely insane, but is just about on brand for the jolly red giver of cheer. This could likely aid in his own impressive magic, where we don’t exactly know which powers are innate or magic-based, but regardless, Santa’s might should not be understated.

Christmas Magic

Being the largest embodiment of the Christmas spirit besides the one it was named after (and don’t you forget him - Santa), Santa is much more than a simple man. In reality, he is actually a magical being composed of traits from all of his legends. This is due to humanity’s collective belief in these figures, which merged with spiritual energy and aspects of the beings themselves to give him form as a manifestation of the spirit of giving in relation to Christmas and relevant holidays. Apparently, he inherited this magic from Melchior, one of the three kings of Bethlehem, and the man who gave the gift of Gold to Jesus Christ. He can use this for any number of feats and powers, like the classic trick of going down any chimney, or somehow retrieving a picture of Spider-Boy’s mother when all of them were gone.

Psychic Powers

As the most notable of his many abilities, Santa is implied and noted as an extraordinarily powerful psychic. He always knows who is naughty and nice after all, with just that base ability being compared to that of a psychic, and earning the title of “world’s greatest detective” for the story cover. This extends to being aware of things happening earlier in the issue he wasn’t there for, including daydreams potentially. He knew a boy writing to him was a Mutant, plus how his powers worked, saying he “knows these things”, and knew something similar about Jubilee, like a letter she wrote to him as a child. In more combative terms, he casually erased the memories of both the X-Men and the Brotherhood with his powers, and likely did similar to technology like Cerebro, given its finding him was what sparked that particular venture.

Size Manipulation

For traveling down any chimney, Santa usually places his finger on his nose, acting as a spell to fit down there unharmed by fire. While the method or description can change, it’s more likely he simply alters his own size most of the time, which he has used multiple other times as well. This includes shrinking himself in combat to dodge attacks from others, and apparently reversing the size-altering powers of Pym Particles to grow a shrunken Scott Lang back to normal, with his powers being noted to change the sizes of himself or others.

Space/Time Manipulation

Throughout his job of delivering presents, Santa’s magic has ascended in potency to the point of controlling and bending both time and space. For spatial matters, he can frequently alter it to, say, teleport anywhere he wants, like disappearing with others while completely evading senses on the level of Peter Parker’s Spider-Sense. Other usages have shown him casually teleport across entire continents in moments or even the entire planet, or used Battlefield Removal in the context of forcefully teleporting the X-Men elsewhere. In the temporal sense, his every trip is evidence of it, as he is traversing the entire planet in a matter of hours to visit every house and child around the world, which is helped in part by…

Super-Speed

As he explains to Spider-Boy, Santa would naturally need super-speed to deliver all the presents he does in one night, and while some of it can be attributed to other factors like his sleigh/reindeer or magic, he himself has moved fast enough to create afterimages from Bailey’s POV without any trouble. He was also implied to buff the speed of one Carol Danvers for helping her do his own job, which somewhat implies he is naturally faster than her.

Weather/Cold Manipulation

Since Christmas as a whole is tied with winter, Santa is as well. In layman’s terms, he has made both snow and ice just by sitting down, is noted to have the power to generate snow, and was even implied to have made it snow over New York.

Longevity

As we noted earlier, Santa is over a thousand years old, and thus he is basically immortal. Profiles on Santa have noted that Santa possesses longevity, and that he has not physically aged in centuries.

Enchantment/Power Amplification

Given Santa’s own magical prowess, he has frequently shared it with others, like being implied to enhance the speed of Captain Marvel to do his own job, or empowering huskies to pull his sleigh in place of reindeer. This even happens to him, where on Christmas Eve his powers are augmented to grant even higher power.

Item Summoning/Creation

While his elves make the toys, Santa has shown the ability to use his Magic in order to create or summon basically any item he wants. This includes a bottle of champagne, a present for She-Hulk (more on that in a bit), a snow globe to select specifications, and likely the rest of his possessions to aid him in magic.

Transmutation/Matter Manipulation

For a mage as mighty as Santa, turning people or objects into whatever he wants is a piece of fruit cake. He turned the Brotherhood into toys for a period of time, and turned them back later with no problems. He has been stated able to alter the appearances of both others and other objects before, and also crafted a present for She-Hulk that let her turn back into Jennifer for a night, which would alter her entire body to do so.

4th Wall Awareness

Yes. Santa Claus has even shown awareness of the 4th Wall (hey, he was in She-Hulk’s comic) and directly noted people were reading the comic book. Was aware of the 4th wall and people reading the comic

“No More Santa” Spell

Dear Reader, you are in fact reading that right. After becoming depressed that all the effort he put into the holiday resulted in people doubting him still, Santa put all of his ancient magicks to the test, literally conjuring up a “No More Santa”; Scarlet Witch style. This created a vacuum that unintentionally changed the makeup of every holiday in existence, changing all of reality in the process to remove “Santa Claus” from the concept of Christmas so he could take a break for a few weeks. While we aren’t shown how he did this specifically, it’s likely he didn’t take months of prep or anything, as he casually notes he planned to reverse the process in a few weeks while himself not being in preparation for it, as well as using his magic without a problem in doing so.

Still batshit crazy tho.

Miscellaneous Magic

Santa Claus

Magic

Santa Claus is no normal old guy, everyone should know that Santa is very magical indeed. As shown above, Santa is capable of hiding his workshop in secret, and it can't be seen unless he wishes for it to be seen. Basically giving him some sort of wish power..It even remained undetected to Superman of all people. He's also known to have the ability to resurrect people, and is a well known wizard with similar power to the likes of Black Adam..

Magic Existence

Santa Claus’s own existence on its own is very magical in nature. His very magical force is capable of fighting off powerful entities such as The Spectre. Santa himself states that you can't touch Father Christmas if you have anger, suspicion, cruelty, or hatred in your mind. It should also be mentioned that his spirit can live on even if his body is physically destroyed, this is thanks to the fact people's belief can make Christmas magic come to life.

You're probably thinking, “FMT you're going into headcanon territory as always, this is just taking what Constantine is saying literally" and I would agree with you….if it wasn't for the fact this is directly confirmed to the exact! As Santa states, the mind is source of all creation, anything that man imagines has form; existence! If he cannot exist in the real world, he can exist in another plane of reality, a whole nother realm. Many magical entities such as Santa are brought to life by the imagination and faith of billions. Santa does not just stem from his own belief, but the spirit of Christmas itself. Santa states that he was once a normal man very long ago, and yet the essence of what he is, existed, and still exists. Just gonna give myself a pat on the back for that one…

Senses

Santa is a very experienced Woodsman, this experience means that he's able to hear children through the trees, because most people put trees inside their homes.

Heat Vision

Heat Vision? The imagination of some people….

Ice Manipulation

When it comes to his ability to create, Santa can create even the biggest of things. His ice powers allowed him to create an entire city with gigantic ice barriers and fortresses. That's right, that giant ice structure was made by Santa and it has a whole city in it.

Size Manipulation

As Hal Comments, Santa Claus is also capable of changing his size similarly to the Spectre. All in order to make sure the Spectre feels welcome..wait can't Spectre grow to the size of a Universe?..

Accelerated Healing

After literally having a sword stabbed through his body, he notes that he is able to heal fast. And yes by the next panel, he's already been healed.

Dimensional Travel

Santa was able to travel between worlds/realms between space, and spent years travelling between worlds in order to try and find Krampus and bring him back home. He can even create portals that allow him to travel through other worlds.

Bifrost Transportation

As a man from Asgard, Santa can access the power of the Bifrost. Including its ability to instantly transport Santa back to his home, or basically anywhere else.

Transmutation

Ol’ Saint Nick was able to turn the Justice League back to normal after they turned into Coal. Wait if that's possible then what's normal coal made o-

Superhuman Capabilities

I think everyone knows this story, but I shall retell it. There was once a boy who had to escape a dying planet, and his parents sent him off to a far planet to be safe and have a fulfilling future. He grew up with an old couple who would raise him to be kind and hopeful. But the boy found himself with superhuman capabilities…he was stronger than most around him, he could fly into the air, and he can even see through walls and anything else he chooses. Then one day he decided he would use these powers for good in order to make the world a much better and kinder place. He would leave his home to make a new one, he made a fortress of solitude and would become one of the most inspiring…and hopeful people on the planet. That's right…his name is….Santa Claus?

Astral Projection

When the Bat Families spirits would enter a story made by Santa as a somewhat vision or something set in their head, he would send himself in the same story to explain what happened. This is basically him astral projecting to where the Bat Fam was in the said vision.

The Speed force

That's right, Santa Claus is actually a speedster who's connected to the Speed Force. It's even stated right here that he's even faster than the Flash/Barry Allen himself, one of the fastest users of the Speed force in the DC Universe. This explains how we can go to every house in the world in one night…

The usual basic Speedforce abilities come with enhanced senses, lightning manipulation, air manipulation, intangibility, molecular manipulation, accelerated healing and of course Super Speed.

Laughter

Yeah you'd think that the last one would be the craziest, most powerful thing you'd see here, but that is not true. The most powerful thing Santa can do is laugh. Why? Because Laughter can come from anyone, it has the power to change the hearts of all. Even the Spectre harnessed it (describing it as his greatest power), because he was so inspired and found joy by just laughing with Santa Claus. That's how powerful his laughter and joy is…it can change the hearts of all who hear it, it can rid your mind of all negativity, it can change the thoughts of anyone around you and let them join in for such laughter. It actually transforms the hearts of all who hears it, every heart, no exception..

Miscellaneous Magic

Support

Santa Claus

Reindeer

Without his sleigh, Santa wouldn’t fare very well, and what pulls that sleigh? Magical reindeers of course! The original and beautiful beasts were a gift from Odin, and he has flown with them ever since, with them serving him dutifully. This even extends to Rudolph, whose bright red nose saved Santa on one particularly foggy night. They can be commanded to shit in someone’s office, and at one point Tony Stark even made him a group of Iron Deer (awesome).

Elves

As Santa’s second little helpers, these lovable little goobers make all of his toys and other appliances for the Winter. They descended from Altheim, a realm associated with Asgard, and have a variety of effects or characteristics due to that. Elves are resistant to aging and conventional diseases, turn into tinsel when they die, and their magic can never be turned to evil… without dire consequences anyway. Speaking of, this magic can help Santa with his normal endeavors (slipping down chimneys, enchanting objects, etc) while the elves themselves are master tinkerers. Not only have they made toy cannons just as effective as the real thing, but a giant war tank from scrapped blueprints to fight off Hydra, or mass-produced guns and energy cannons for themselves or Santa himself. Per Santa’s orders, they can summon all elves worldwide to fight against evil, or even back-up Mall Santa’s as allies.

Santa Claus

Reindeer

What is a Santa Claus without reindeer? Maybe he's not really Santa Claus. Santa always comes with his trusty reindeer, and they always help him deliver presents all around the world. The most notable Reindeer is Rudolph of course, who's nose can be used for heating purposes, and as a flashlight! These Reindeer are huge, and are even big enough to tear through monsters.

Elves

Santa always has his helpful elves by his side. They of course make all the toys and items Santa has, they're very helpful and loyal to Santa, and will always be there if anyone needs a bit of help from small hands. And he has a LOT of elves by his side…if he ever needs to scrap, the elves will give a hand beating the shit out of someone. They can even come with Pop-guns and electric rods to shoo people away.

Alligators

Nice. You'll definitely want these when you're delivering presents in that kind of climate

Guardians

These magical creatures guard the ice city Santa Claus resides in, they have magical abilities of their own and are capable of battling Black Adam. Santa has some VERY interesting lines of defenses..

Yeti’s

These beasts are very strong and powerful in a very high light. These beasts were great allies of Ol’ Saint Nicholas and are not goes to take lightly. These abominable monsters are able to fight off these powerful beasts, which were overpowering these heroes like Robotman, Etrigan and Nubia.

Krampus

Once an enemy that threatened Christmas, Krampus was actually a kind and gentle creature who would never truly harm a child. Sure he would scare them to teach them a lesson so they won't be naughty, but he would never harm one, and as long as they're sorry for their actions he will forgive. As you can see here Santa is able to summon Krampus (this gives him a relatively handy summoning ability.) and Krampus is more powerful than he seems…

Krampus can access flame magic, portal creation, and summoning of his own kind. During his time being trapped, Krampus had access to entire armies. Such as an army of vampires that could suck your blood out, or Vampires that can incapacitate powerful magic users such as Zatanna. He also had access to an entire army of Winged Warriors, which were so powerful they were trouble to the likes of Hawkgirl, Jo Mullein, and Wonder Women.

Santa Claus

Krampus

In Marvel, Krampus might as well be the demonic version in every two-bit horror movie, as he is an actual demon. Never fear though, as Santa fought and defeated him so soundly that the monstrosity retreated for a century, until he was sure St. Nick was gone. Thus, he certainly upscales from him, especially when he easily took on dozens of his minions while others fought him.

Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)

In classic Santa fashion, Mr. Claus showed up one Holiday Fright to inspire Robbie Reyes to win his fight against Krampus on an earlier night. In layman's terms, Santa beat Krampus, who battled Robbie earlier on before the Daimon fight, and his minions nearly overwhelmed the boy as well.

Daimon Hellstrom

Through Krampus, Santa would by extension compare to Daimon. As mentioned, Krampus matched Daimon in a fight and even outright defeated him, so, since Santa solidly defeated Krampus before, he would compete and even upscale with Daimon's feats.

Dr. Strange

Whilst fighting Daimon, Hellstrom off-handedly remarked he'd prefer the help of either his sister Satanna, an incredibly powerful Hell-Lord in her own right, or Dr. Strange, the literal Sorcerer Supreme. Given Krampus had also battled a Ghost Rider through Robbie Reyes, with Riders in general being more than a match for Stephen at their best, it’s certainly fair to compare Santa to Strange.

Mutants

According to Cerebro, Santa is “the most powerful Mutant ever registered.” While seeming a little… out there, he was shown easily cleaning up the Brotherhood via magic, has moved FTE to other mutants on several occasions, and is noted as a ludicrously powerful magician in Marvel's guidebooks, with one such example being how his energy projection skill is noted as a 6, while Satanna (Daimon’s sister and someone likely similar to Dr. Strange) shares the same ranking, supporting his power overall being at that magnitude. It coming from Cerebro and being backed up through the story details in said guidebooks makes it rather hard to deny, so Santa should compare to and exceed virtually every Mutant in Marvel… so be ready for the next section.

Miscellaneous

Storm

Cyclops

Magneto

Franklin Richards (Debatable)

Santa is obviously incredibly powerful in Marvel’s lore, but this might seem like a stretch, even for him. The main example for Santa approaching Franklin in power would be his statement of being “the most powerful Mutant ever registered” which includes Franklin Richards. In short, while Franklin isn’t a Mutant now, he was for years until it was retconned (long story). At the time this story and the later guidebook were written, Franklin was still a Mutant, and thus the statement would apply. We’ll be giving more information on if we buy this later, but yes, Santa Claus could potentially compare to one of the strongest beings in the entire Marvel Omniverse.

Santa Claus

Superman (Base)

Ever since the early age of comics, Santa Claus has been a figure of DC comics. Even Superman recognizes his magical nature. Santa was able to hide the North Pole without Superman even noticing, he could summon Superman by radio, he joined the Justice League, and his toys were able to fight toys made by the Toymaker, which a weakened Superman was defenseless against. And of course in the recent Silent Knight run, Claus fights the same beats that are capable of harming, tagging and overpowering Clark. Now are we saying Santa Claus is capable of scaling to a Superman that's going all out? Of course not, but we can scale him to the good stuff Supes does when he isn't going all out!

Lobo

Lobo is a very powerful bastitch, he constantly tussles with some of the strongest characters in DC. But Santa is no exception, once Lobo was told to kill the Jolly Ol’ Eld, he planned on taking him out. But Santa is very resilient, and he gave Lobo a real run for his money in a battle to the absolute death..

Black Adam

Once the great ruler Black Adam heard that Kahndaq wasn't getting any presents from Santa, he planned on making sure Santa would go by even if he got on the Naughty list. Santa definitely put up a fight, as even Black Adam noted Santa Claus as a powerful wizard who was capable of even harming him.

The Flash

Barry Allen is one of the most powerful, and of course, one of the fastest characters in the DC Universe. And of course is one of the fastest users of the infamous Speed Force. But as y'all know, it was stated in the Christmas comic that Santa Claus is actually faster than The Flash. And considering he's much older than Barry, he's definitely a more experienced user of the Speed Force….

The Spectre

The Spectre is a VERY powerful being in the DC universe. Same case happened whenever Hal Jordan became the Spectre, and he would state that he was more powerful than ever. So how does Santa Claus compare to this power? Well not only did his power strike and overpower the Spectre, throughout the story, Hal sees Santa as a very powerful magician, even being cautious of the Jolly Ol' Elf. He is consistently thinking that Santa may be a powerful linchpin, or that his magic may be dangerous until he sees that Santa is the actual Santa. Not to mention relative beings to Santa are able to overpower the Spectre and incapacitate him. Someone with power like the Spectre's seeing Santa is a powerful being to be cautious of def means Santa should at least be comparable…(Hal as the Spectre is as powerful as the normal Spectre but I'll list stuff off from both loll)

The Spectre

Hal Jordan; The Spectre

Misc.

Santa Claus has fought many many enemies throughout his lifetime, a lot of them have fought many other heroes in the DC universe. Which heroes can Saint Nick scale to? Let's find out..

Weaknesses

Santa Claus

Marvel’s Santa may be… surprisingly powerful for being an old fat guy, but he is not unbeatable at the slightest. He was once frozen in a block of ice for an extended amount of time, and has gotten overwhelmed and manhandled by physically stronger foes than he, like the Abominable Snowman. He is also prone to negative thirst for power, like when he wore the Infinity Gauntlet and was seduced by its might; similar to the One Ring from Middle-Earth.

Santa Claus

Despite being as powerful as he is, and I mean VERY powerful, Nicholas comes with his weaknesses. While being very powerful when it comes to magic, he has been bested by those with superior magical power. Santa tends to not go all out unless he sees that his opponent is powerful. And finally, he does tend to jump to something if he suspects it, like when he accidentally Banished Krampus after he thought Krampus ate children.

Before the Verdict

No Infinity Gauntlet?

In short, while funny, the Gauntlet isn’t standard or applicable for Santa. He was only granted it through the Stones literally being handed to him via the Illuminati, and lost it right after going power crazy. Even then it was quickly removed and is more a hindrance than anything else.

Santa = Franklin Richards???

Now for an actual and legitimate debate for Marvel Santa. Is he more powerful than Franklin Richards?

Hoo boy…

Before we start, it should be noted that I (Round 1 Fight) have actually researched Franklin Richards entirely myself (actually linking needed help from some special friends, but that’s besides the point) so I am pretty much the best authority on Franklin as far as this is concerned. So, let’s get cracking. The primary reasoning and justification for this comparison comes from Santa being noted as “the most powerful Mutant ever registered” by Cerebro. Not only is Cerebro an adequate and if anything highly credible source in regards to Mutant affairs, but this same notion is backed up in guidebooks even decades later in the mid-2000’s. This matters because Franklin Richards is a Mutant, or rather was one, for decades. He was recently retconned to have made himself a Mutant subconsciously, but that is an entirely separate affair. Point is, Franklin was a Mutant at the time of the story’s writing, and if you take the statements as true, Santa would be the strongest Mutant, and thus superior to Franklin. Now, does this work? Well, not precisely, but somewhat yes.

As far as “not precisely” goes, it is rather ludicrous to claim Santa is stronger than Franklin on a simple narrative scale. Franklin is easily in the top five most powerful beings in Marvel period, and is much more of a cosmic force than Santa has ever been. We’re talking about a kid who can create constructs beyond entire multiverses, span all of reality in a mental battle, and completely (albeit briefly) annihilate the literal concept of evil across mankind beyond all astral and physical realms for days on end, when he was already amped a thousandfold to the point that he could casually best Dr. Strange. Marvel Santa has never done anything like that, and his matching Franklin is entirely based on this one statement, which itself can be countered to remind everyone that Franklin is stronger.

For starters, the statement claims Santa is the most powerful Mutant ever registered, right? Well, Franklin himself has received these statements on a FAR more consistent basis, and from more credible sources in the wider sense at Marvel. He has frequently been established as one of the most powerful beings in the universe or even Multiverse (by himself and the story itself), and has been stated the world’s most powerful Mutant himself, either by the story or by Galactus himself. The latter statement is especially important, as not only are Galactus’ powers and very existence intertwined with Franklin’s (meaning he is highly unlikely to be lying or incorrect) but this very instance was in Volume 2 of The History of the Marvel Universe. In other words, this is a cosmic recap of all that was and is by Galactus, and the Marvel writers themselves telling us the definitive tale of the Marvel Universe, where they establish that in the most canon and official sense possible, Franklin is superior to all other Mutants. This shouldn’t really come as a surprise either, when Franklin has been similarly credited as virtually unstoppable by beings like Onslaught, or been stated to hold “unprecedented” powers in the entire history of humanity by Ashema of the Celestials. We can even further this by the guidebooks themselves, given they rank the powers and abilities of Marvel heroes. Now, this is overall… not the best judge of scaling (given Wolverine could be faster than Juggernaut by a point despite the obvious proof that isn’t the case) but it does generally hold weight, where stronger characters receive higher rankings. In this case, in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z series, both Santa and Franklin are given power rankings, where Santa’s Energy Projection (basically magic in this case) is credited as a 6, while Franklin’s is at a 7; the highest ranking.

So, at the end of it all, it should be evident that Franklin is superior; narratively, contextually, and in a more outright sense of the Marvel story. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean we can’t scale Santa to him in a sense. Despite the somewhat humorous nature of the claim, Santa being at the very least one of the strongest Mutants was firmly backed up by the story and handbooks. When comparing the kinds of people he can match and exceed, this doesn’t seem that far-fetched either. Take his battle with Krampus for example, where not only has he solidly defeated the Demon, but said monstrosity has battled both Robbie Reyes and Daimon Hellstrom, even going so far as to one-shot the latter. Reminder, both of those demonic warriors have torn through some of the strongest heroes and villains in the Marvel universe, and contended with even the Sorcerer Supreme himself, Dr. Strange. Since Santa would largely upscale that, similarly to Franklin, and he is technically not that far behind him by the logic of the guidebook that we can compare their power in, it is somewhat fair and logical to downscale Santa from Franklin.

TL;DR? Marvel Santa is not more powerful than Franklin Richards, but we can compare them and downscale Santa from him.

Santa Claus is the FASTEST Speedster???

As I mentioned before, Santa Claus states that the Flash (Barry Allen) is much slower than he is. It is shown that Santa can access the speed force and it explains how he can always visit every house in only one night. And considering he's thousands of years old, he'd be way more experienced in using the speed force. So is this feat actually usable? Is there a chance Santa is just lying, or it's just not true? How do we know if this is actually true? Well there's no reason it wouldn't be. First off, everything I just said proves why this on its own makes sense loll.

Secondly, why would Santa lie about this? We don't see this being retconned or anything, there's nothing that contradicts it, there's seemingly some reason to the statement. Hell we've seen that characters like the Knight can tag Wally fuckin West. So yes it seems like the scaling and statement doesn't have anything against it aside from maybe calling outlandish? But this is Santa Claus in the DC universe, logic was thrown out the window as soon as he became a Teen Titans villain with a party city suit.

Hey, read this really cool script I made!!

Verdicts

Tis’ the season to be jolly, although this day may have some jingle bloodshed. Forget White Christmas, this will be a very red one. This year is a gift of giving and all I want for Christmas is a battle between comic book Santa's. Oh what fun it is to watch an all out brawl with death, but that's the Death By Blog rock. Last Christmas I gave y'all nothing (because these blogs didn't exist) but the very next day (I still gave y'all nothing) It's just not fairrrrrrr….Bum biddy biddy biddy bum bum..

Ok that's enough of the Christmas references let's just see who wins…

Team Marvel Santa (Round 1 Fight)

Experience/Skill

In this realm, both Marvel and DC are pretty much even, with few direct advantages to be given, and even then they are not exactly game-changers. Both are nearly 2,000 years old, while Marvel Santa is about 100 years older than DC Santa. DC Santa is likely more skilled in physical combat, as while both can compare to extreme martial artists like Deadpool and Batman, Bruce is a superior example in the long run. Both have fought monsters and demons many centuries old, like Marvel Santa fighting Krampus or DC Santa fighting Black Adam, so both of the former categories mean less in comparison. If either would take the advantage, it would be DC Santa, as he fights monsters and etc more consistently.

Arsenal/Equipment

Similarly to the former category, both Santa’s can match each other in a lot of ways. They have a variety of physical weapons (swords and axes), firearms (cannons and guns), and their own various esoteric Christmas gear, like how sleighs are similar in nature and can travel incredibly fast. Both have mechanical allies through their elves (more in support) so that equals out, while DC Santa has a few more wacky items that won’t matter much (Cerebro rip-off is too circumstantial and Marvel already has those powers, the Candies are never getting in Marvel’s mouth, while the Humbug needs a lot of work to actually get in Marvel’s ear and even then it’s blasting Christmas music. Pretty self-explanatory why that’s not likely to work). Beyond that, DC does have more destructive tools, like actual nukes, and the Touchstone is an instant win if it lands. Even beyond sealing Marvel Santa in the power nullifying Phantom Zone, Marvel just hasn’t shown interdimensional teleportation capabilities, so BFR to another dimension should probably get rid of him. Marvel could technically try and trap DC in his Tesseract Sack, but he’s not done this before, and DC Santa can escape anyway.

DC Santa takes arsenal overall.

Support/Armies

Yet again, both Santa’s match each other in most ways here. Their allies, like elves, are similar in backup and weaponry, while their reindeer serve the same purpose. The elves can be duplicated via DC’s cloning machine, and Marvel can summon more elves to his side with his many mechanical sleighs if needed, though DC’s method is more instantaneous. DC has very powerful Guardians and other magical allies more powerful than the average elf, though both Santa and his regular elves have shown magical empowerment on several people, and could likely match them if needed. Krampus however is a notable ally, and has his own powers that could help, like summoning magic-draining vampires, creating portals, and being naturally comparable to DC Santa himself. The Magic draining could be very dangerous to both Marvel and his elves, and the same could be said for Krampus. We share differing opinions on this, but I say Marvel Santa’s hax can certainly take care of Krampus given his lack of resistances required to shrug off the more dangerous tools, and he himself has defeated a similar Demon in-canon before.

DC Santa takes the advantage overall, though Marvel has counters for a good deal of it.

Abilities/Powers

Not to beat a dead horse, but once more things are basically even. Both are magical beings composed of belief and the very nature of Christmas cheer, and have longevity/immortality on top of that. They can do all sorts of the same things, like controlling snow/ice on a city wide range, summoning or creating most any item they need, and transmuting foes into other objects (or altering others as well meaning they can counter it) though Marvel Santa has more examples/has actually weaponized it against multiple foes at the same time. Both of them have pyrokinesis (DC resists it), can resurrect fallen allies if needed, and possess super-senses, while ignoring the senses of others with cosmic range in their travels. Among further examples like DC’s heat vision and miscellaneous speed-force powers, Marvel can utilize similar fire attacks and wields super-speed himself, as well as comparable powers to the base Speed-Force catalogue.

For their literal bigger guns, both of them can manipulate their sizes, but Marvel can do it to other people and reverse the size altering effects of the Pym Particles, meaning he could still shrink DC Santa even if he grew to massive heights. Both of them can teleport and use BFR, but DC Santa can do so across dimensions, while Marvel hasn’t showcased such a range (it’s only planetary as far as we know). However, Marvel overall has better powers as we go further. For starters, he is a more developed psychic, and while both can erase or alter your memories, Marvel has weaponized this more and has greater experience in using it. While both themselves have great powers, Marvel can buff his allies, as can his elves with their own magic, which could counter the stronger allies of DC if needed. In terms of their immortality, both don’t really age, but DC has proven harder to kill in a pain tolerance sense (has shrugged off being stabbed). Another useful power would be Marvel’s precognition, which worked several days in advance, and could warn Marvel of troubles like Krampus and the Touchstone (of note, you could argue it wouldn’t work well given he hasn’t used it in combat, though I don’t see any issues with it personally). Among further abilities that could prove useful, Marvel’s telekinesis could potentially steal weapons like the Touchstone, while DC’s Astral Projection could possibly mess with Marvel’s precognition. The best power on the playing field without a doubt would be Marvel’s No More Santa spell.

This mighty power was utilized by Marvel Santa to, in layman’s terms, warp the entire structure of the Christmas holiday to erase knowledge and belief of him in the public eye. Not only did this work on cosmic beings even on the scale of Galactus, but also changed all sorts of holidays as just a side effect. That is important because DC Santa is a being of belief first and foremost, and removing the belief IN Santa, which Marvel did on himself and is a perfect indicator that it work on DC, thus causing all sorts of negative effects should Marvel desire it, and removing any immortality arguments one could make for DC’s coming back from death. I personally don’t think DC can come back from death quick enough to the point that it could make any difference, but even if you did the Spell would circumvent it. You could argue this takes too much magic and/or time to be useful, but we aren’t given much proof or indication of that, so I think it’s a pretty solid win-condition all things considered.

So, all things considered, Marvel Santa should prevail here, and solve problems from the previous disparities. He holds subtle or major advantages in psychic proficiency, transmutation magic, size alteration, ally buffing, precognition, and the No More Santa spell. This can match the one-shot nature of the Touchstone, and is arguably more deadly overall given his wider ability advantage and precognition. While Krampus and the vampires could prove deadly, they lack defenses against Marvel’s magic, so I don’t consider them to be any 100% game-changer given Marvel’s powers, especially given something like precognition.

Overall, Marvel Santa takes abilities, which I believe to be the most notable difference.

Scaling/Stats

This factor shouldn’t be too difficult, where both scale similarly overall. They have battled all manners of powerful sorcerers and mighty muscle-bound heroes, like Marvel battling Krampus and DC fighting foes on Superman’s level. Among further examples and levels in the overall scope, this compares them both to threatening a universe MUCH larger than ours (infinite) to even the multiverse and beyond, which involves pretty much innumerous spatial and fractal dimensions to layer things to a likely equivalent amount. Speed is the same case, where the highest threats in their universes reach speeds that are by definition impossible to measure. You could argue DC as faster due to the speed-force, but personally, I don’t believe so, when even an average Dr. Strange fight can have him (or Baron Mordo for reference) rocket at immeasurable speeds, which Marvel would heavily upscale from due to Krampus scaling, who easily outmatched an extremely powerful foe in Daimon Hellstrom, who equals Strange. You could argue further scaling through Franklin Richards and Krampus, both of whom scale to the tops of their verses in similar examples. These would even out, but I don’t think either truly scales this high, so they should realistically even out. I can understand the notion that DC would still be faster, or that his Spectre scaling arguments are stronger in comparison, and I’ve spoken with FMTTT on them a good deal. Personally I think you can argue this, and I don’t fault anybody for doing so. Despite that, I believe them to be about equal.

Closing

So at the end of it all, these Santa’s match each other in basically all areas (tertiary matters for example) with DC taking slight advantages in skill, and a great edge in the Touchstone. His own allies like Krampus are very deadly, and he has plenty of deadly powers and scaling. However, I believe Marvel Santa matches most (not all if you buy Spectre) arguments for stats, has counters for most of DC’s powers and his own abilities that DC can’t counter, and of course the No More Santa spell. This is just as deadly a weapon as the Touchstone, if not more so, and given Marvel’s precognition and other advantages, I think he would use it better.

I give the win to Marvel Santa.

Team DC Santa (FMT)

Experience/Skill

Now these guys are very old, like very very old, but they're both also very skilled in their own rights. After all, when you're taking care of Christmas and being the face of it for so many years then you may learn a couple hundred things or two..

Both are very similarly experienced when it comes to…actual experience of being alive. While Marvel Santa is slightlyyyy older (about 100 years older), both are similarly experienced in fighting many powerful foes. They have both fought Martial Artists, magicians, and many other beasts and magical creatures throughout their lifetimes, including immortal deities with their own millennia of experience, like Krampus and Black Adam. They've both also had lots of experience with Superheroes. Marvel Santa worked along with various heroes over the years like Spider-Boy or Ghost RIder, while DC Santa worked along with the Justice League and the Sandman. Marvel Santa knows many sorcerers such as Doctor Strange, and DC Santa knows many magicians such as Zatanna. However in terms of Combat, DC Santa is slightlyyyy more impressive. While Marvel Santa was able to fight Deadpool, DC Santa trained and taught Batman tricks and skills he still uses now. It may not sound impressive, but being able to train Batman is immensely impressive when you consider how Batman is one of the most skilled fighters in the DC universe.

While Marvel Santa is not new to deadly combat and is older, DC simply takes the upperhand in skill and can match that experience with his own very large battle experience. This category slightly goes to DC SANTA.

Arsenal/Equipment

Knick Knacks and toys are what these Santa's are especially known for. They're crafty, imaginative, and have LOTS of weapons in their toy sacks. Which Santa is more crafty and has a knack for inventions? Let's find out.

Now both of these Clause's have sleighs. They can both travel very fast, have limitless sacks and can carry anything. Marvel's sleigh does have more to it and his sack can practically seal anything inside of it, although DC has counters (we'll get to that later). They have lots of weapons such as axes, long ranged options, CQC weapons, and they basically match each other in most regards. DC’s Cerebro is very helpful, but it's pretty circumstantial and he wouldn't have enough time to use it for long. And the Humbug, while helpful, would require some prep involved to get it inside Marvel Santa's ear, and debatably not work to begin with due to his being the entity of Christmas spirit. Hard to get annoyed by that standard. DC Santa does however have more variety when it comes to his arsenal.

He has toys that are strong enough to compare to toymakers' inventions, and toy soldiers with their own artillery.  He has generally more to offer in terms of knick knacks, like actual warheads… for some reason (Bro can even call in Superman for support lmao. We aren’t actually using him but still). And his cloning units allow him to constantly create more support over the battle. Of course, the Touchstone is also very, very broken, and can trap you either in any realm of your choosing or the Phantom Zone (you're effectively powerless inside a boundless dimension-less prism of nothingness). A timeless sensory deprivation tank, where you cannot affect the outside world on your own nor can you physically do much. you're kind of like a living conscious without a tangible body that can only wait…and wait..and wait…for eternity…

Yikes.

Marvel Santa can match a good deal of this through his other abilities however. Not only does he have his own army of elves with their own magic to aid him, but he can summon more to his side through vehicles, and boost their strength with his own magic. DC Santa does have an easier time gaining more powerful allies, given their more instantaneous nature, and the natural strength they bear. The Touchstone is also naturally an instant-win if it lands, as Marvel Santa nor do any of the forces he has access to has not shown interdimensional teleportation, or the capabilities needed to escape the Phantom Zone. Not to mention DC Santa has used his powers to help others in dire situations like this, so it's most likely that he would also match whatever Marvel could do no matter what in this category, or simply have more on a casual basis rather than in army standards.

So, this Category slightly goes to DC SANTA.

Support/Armies

Ah Santa's old workshop, filled with an abundance of elves, and of course trusty reindeer! But these Santa's are much more difficult than your usual workshops, they come with…firepower…

They both have a large abundance of elves with weapons that can back them up for a brawl. They both have Reindeer that basically work the same and have very special properties to them. They match each other in numbers, DC Santa can summon and create more support, while Marvel's is worldwide. DC Santa does have more variety when it comes with his support with his magical guardians and bigger mythical creatures. While DC Santa's firepower come with characters that are much more powerful than Marvel's, Marvel's Elve’s come with a LOT more weapons and tech to back them up such as tanks, cannons, and fucking mechs. They can even amplify their magic and their Santa's in order to match the power of DC's support. However, DC Santa's backup is naturally more powerful, and even DC's reindeer are capable of tearing through giants, so it does seem DC Santa has a slight advantage in support.

Of course, Krampus is also a very notable ally. He is a very powerful creature similar to DC Santa, with many magical powers for his own usage. He can summon his own backup that can also spread worldwide in a short amount of time, and these armies can give powerhouse heroes such as Wonder Woman or Hawkgirl a very hard time. They already add to all the power DC Santa already has, but the biggest factor is the thousands of vampires Krampus can summon. Each Vampire is capable of not only incapacitating very powerful figures, they can even nullify the magical properties of immensely powerful magic users such as Zatanna. Because most of Marvel Santa's backup is magic based, Santa himself included, these hordes of vampires would be insanely helpful to the battle and can use this ability instantly once they're killed. Even if Krampus was taken out, DC Santa would not lose access to everything Krampus summoned, the Vampires would still be very dangerous with their instant magic incap and nullification. The elves wouldn't even be able to amplify themselves or Santa since the Vampires can just remove that entirely or do it instantly once they're dead. Marvel Santa is very stacked thanks to his crafty, powerful, and magical elves; Although DC Santa has bigger and more powerful, more variety with different magical properties, and has ways to stop most of Marvel's army alone. This category (High Diff) goes to DC SANTA.

Abilities/Powers

Now this is a very big one. Both are very powerful, magical entities that can basically accomplish anything they desire. They are very much experienced in using such abilities, so much so, it made them comparable to some of the most powerful characters in their universes. Who is the better magician? Who has the greater Christmas magic?

Now both can match each other in lots of abilities. Both are effectively immortal, can create and summon any weapon or McGuffin for battle. They can mess with or erase memories (and have used it a good amount of times considering their nature), teleport, have super-senses but can also consistently evade senses to a high level degree, can manipulate ice and cold, control fire, and have Transmutation they've used in combat before (Both Santa’s can use it but also undo it even from other sources, so both can effectively stop each other in that regard, and consistence doesn't matter when it's something both have used in battle nonetheless and would use it as a battle ender considering the ways they've been used. And DC Santa has used said Transmutation on the Justice League who would have better resistances to it.). Both can even just resurrect their fallen allies if they get defeated. Both can access Super Speed, although the Speed Force is on a higher scale in terms of how it's used in a fight and the abilities that come with it (but it's not an extreme game changer). Marvel Santa's ability to empower his allies is very helpful in such a tremendous fight, although DC can simply wish away any of his kit or army from sight, such wishing can even work on the levels of Superman’s view (Marvel Santa can do similar via BFR but the difference is that DC can just make it so Marvel can't even see DC Santa or anything he has).. Marvel Santa has precognition and can predict what next move DC Santa can make, which itself is a very good advantage, though you could argue DC Santa’s astral form could help mess with his mind (and if you don't think this will work, DC Santa's mind reading can help with it. It won’t mitigate things too much, but can help regardless and is way more in detail and better than Marvel's considering the fact it can see visions and insights inside of your head lol). Sure, DC Santa can possibly grow to the size of the damn universe, but Marvel Santa's shrinking can affect even Pym tech on a similar scale (although since it's comparable to Spectre, that'd mean it wouldn't stop him for too long and DC Santa can just keep attempting it lol), so he'd be able to take care of DC trying to constantly grow in size with a back and forth. While Marvel Santa has sealing options, DC Santa has Dimensional travel and a wider teleportation range that can use to help his forces which he's done before, and both can teleport/BFR as well, so most options won’t work either.

Looking at this now however, I think I have come with a good conclusion. Marvel Santa has way better offensive options, while DC Santa has way better defensive options. They either match each other in most abilities, or they can counter them. Even their existence is similar, since they're beings that come from belief and imagination. The difference is that DC Santa's power is directly fueled by belief and imagination, his existence is more conceptual in nature. Even if he physically dies he can constantly come back in spirit and just continue living on as Santa Claus (He can still be killed for a time and it will still count as a victory but it is a meaningful comparison anyway). Meanwhile, Marvel Santa does not work the same way and can be killed without this concern. DC Santa's defense is probably the saving grace here, because in reality, Marvel Santa HAS to rely on his abilities here. DC Santa can heal from physical damage that can instantly kill you or depower you, can negate damage or magical attacks as a whole thanks to the fact you can't touch him even if you're suspicious of him (Spectre is magic in nature and his existence is similar, yet his presence was not effective on ol’ Santa) and phasing is extremely helpful against physical attacks.

So…what now?

Well, there's 3 alternate scenarios. (Ohhhh shit)

#1. Friendship

Yes, unironically yes.

Marvel Santa has such a good charm and in nature is so joyous, he can make even the most hardened criminals have a good heart and change their mind. DC Santa's Laughter can not only affect abstract in nature beings such as Spectre, it worked on beings in similar conceptual nature as Marvel Santa like Ebenezer. It can change anyone's heart, no exceptions. Now due to the already pure nature of both characters, it wouldn't exactly change their hearts. However, it would cause both to just stop fighting each other in the first place and laugh through merriment…

So yes, simply friendship is a possibility..(although DC Santa can resist that charm stuff)

#2. DC gets better opportunities

Simply, DC has more defensive options in order to stop Marvel from using some of his kit. He even has ways of getting rid of Marvel's magic entirely if needed to, and it's very in character to just end the fight if he sees it must be done. Both have this attribute, however DC's would be easier since he's more defensive in nature and has ways to completely evade the fight as a whole, and then pull out something random. Although Marvel Santa has many counters of his own that are equally as impressive. This is a very high diff possibility but nonetheless, a good one.

#3. No More Santa.

This is the biggest ability from either side. This spell effectively removes the concept of Santa from the holiday, so nobody remembers who Santa Claus is. This spell works on powerful cosmic entities such as Galactus as just a side effect, and can change entire holiday traditions across the entire 616 timeline, solely because Santa's magic was more powerful than he thought. This is a DIRECT counter to DC Santa's Immortality, as people's belief in Santa is what directly gives existence to his being, and he will continue to live on because of this belief. Marvel Santa can cut off that belief thanks to No More Santa, to the point that even cosmic beings such as the Spectre won't be able to remember DC Santa, given how it interacted with Galactus. Even if you argue DC Santa being able to survive it thanks to him resisting normal death manipulation, it still cuts off the reason for his being, so it'd be affecting him no matter what.

The only real weakness to this is that it presumably takes a lot of effort to do (Santa mentioned he poured all of his magicks into it) and you could claim it is not instant given a relative lack of context on how he cast the spell and it didn't go into effect until later on. In that vein, it could seem more likely that he'd be left open while trying to use the spell. It was a quick spell, but you could argue it won't be quick enough, which will give DC Santa enough time to deal with it. At the very worst, you can say the Spell takes an hour to conjure up or even 30 minutes, that'll still be plenty of time considering the fact even in other stories inside the comic, the spell was still present for the entire time till Christmas night oncel it was finally changed by Santa. This may seem like it was instant, but Gwen went to the North Pole while they were still setting up decorations in an early day, so it's not even close to being instant. Both have a lot of backup and support and neither will get the opportunity to pull off anything that will take a little bit of time. Once again, this is a very high diff possibility but a very good one nonetheless. The main comparison here is the spell vs the Touchstone, where both are pretty much unstoppable options to end the fight whenever they want. Marvel Santa can’t escape the Phantom Zone, and DC Santa’s hypothetical immortality and nature of existence is directly countered by the No More Santa spell. While both of us have varying opinions on which one is more reliable, the Touchstone has more proof it can be used instantly, so it is more reliable in that vein.

Overall, there's way too many ways both can counter or match each other. But, they also have ways of dealing with each other. Unfortunately, this category on its own is a lot harder to decide when you're trying to make an overall deciding factor. This will be covered more in the overall conclusion, but overall, this category is a STALEMATE

Scaling/Stats

These Santa's pack more than just a punch, these Santa's are actually some of the most powerful characters you've ever seen. But who's stronger, faster, and more durable?

So let's TLDR’ this real quick, these guys are pretty much constant equals no matter what you use. With low ends they can easily scale above street tiers and even the mid tiers of their worlds. With Mid-ends they can scale to powerful heralds and absolute powerhouses such as Ghost Riders, Flashes, Doctor Strange, Zatanna, Daimon Hellstrom, Etrigan, mutants and even Superman. They both scale to incalculable speeds and scale to people who are practically above that (somehow) and their normal speeds are already very superhuman so they can't catch each other off guard. But when you go into their high scale stuff, ohhhh boy.

Both can scale to one of the most powerful beings in their entire cosmologies, that being Franklin Richards and the Spectre. But no matter what you really buy, the ends on both just keep matching each other over and over and over again. Both have very similar upscaling and downscaling methods and are just way too similar in general scale. If you HAD to pick a winner for this category then maybe you can give it to DC? His scaling is more broad and set-in-stone considering he physically does it himself, and perhaps the nature of the speed force could allow for DC Santa to be a higher scale in speed? It gets very abstract and there's a lot to talk about so this category is ultimately a STALEMATE.

Summary

Santa Claus

“You see, Miss Walters ... I always know who's been naughty... and nice…”

Advantages

  • Has better offensive haxes and a generally larger pool of them

  • Is older than DC Santa by a hundred years

  • His support is far more impressive in magic and arsenal

  • Precognition could be very helpful in the fight

  • Has showcased his Haxes more consistently

  • His sleigh is more impressive than DC Santa's

  • “No More Santa” one shots once it's activated

  • Certified Badass

=

  • Equally as experienced in battle

  • Has battled entities like the other before

  • Most likely very equal in stats

  • Have lots of the same powers and counters to said powers

Disadvantages

  • …But DC has counters against many of these too..

  • ….But “No More Santa” potentially requires him to have the chance or time to create the spell again

  • “No More Santa" would most likely be a last resort given we haven’t seen him weaponize it to the same extent as the touchstone

  • The infinity Gauntlet isn't standard..๐Ÿ˜”

Santa Claus

"I listen for my helpers-- and friends.”

Advantages

  • Better defensive haxes/is much harder to kill thanks to his conceptual nature (debatable), magic defenses, phasing, and Immortality

  • His support is far more impressive in variety, power, and can basically nullify the magic on Marvel Santa's side

  • Generally more strategic

  • Has more resistances in comparison

  • Astral Projection could be very helpful in the fight

  • Larger versatility in weapons, and his are more useful

  • The Touchstone can instantly one shot and easily be used anytime during the battle

  • His Silent Knight design is fucking badass

=

  • Equally as experienced in battle

  • Have battled entities like the other before

  • Most likely very equal in stats

  • Have lots of the same powers and counters to said powers

Disadvantages

  • Has a smaller pool of offensive haxes in comparison to Marvel Santa

  • Precognition is still a game changer if DC Santa doesn't think about using Astral Projection or his more in depth mind reading

  • Showcased his Haxes a little less consistently

  • “No More Santa" is still an insane one shot wincon

  • He was in TTG…(booooooo!)

Conclusion

Now the plan was for me and Round 1 to debate a little more and come up with an agreed victor, but he deserves a break (he's been a really great help and he did a very good job on the Marvel Side) and sides with Marvel Santa Claus for the verdict. He has some really good arguments for why Marvel wins too, but some arguments before and now are basically my own arguments because this can practically go either way. We could have probably debated this more, but he decided it was best to simply leave it as us both siding separately. In that sense, he conceded the vote, as he believes that DC Santa arguments are easier to make, even if he doesn’t agree with them. Thus, DC Santa wins the blog, and he has requested this since most people generally will probably side with DC. But please, look at both arguments and decide for yourself who wins! Don't take this conclusion as a "ok so they automatically win.” This is just why I personally side who I choose. But you all can choose who you side with, that's what these blogs are mostly for! But anyways, let's go to the final part of the debate…

In the end, I think DC Santa should win the battle of the Clause's. To keep it simple since there's so much to talk to, he has more options that can get rid of or kill Marvel Santa. On the other hand, Marvel Santa has one guaranteed wincon because he can't kill nor physically do anything to DC Santa. DC Santa's army can take care of Marvel's army more quickly and incapacitate both the militias, and Marvel Santa himself. That'd basically mean Marvel Santa will have a harder time getting an opening to pull off “No More Santa.” Plus, they counter way too many of their Haxes while still having stuff that works, but DC Santa generally has more resistances. The deciding factor is that DC Santa has a counter to Marvel's one shot option, while the same can't be said for Marvel Santa as he can't do anything against Phantom Zone BFR. And what makes it so effective is that “No More Santa" can't affect DC Santa while inside of the Phantom Zone. Hell, he practically can't even do anything or use his magic in general while in the Phantom Zone, but y'know who can??

So yeah, it generally seems like DC Santa will get more chances to counter and pull off his wincons first and he has everything he needs to combat whatever Marvel Santa has.

But once again, this is just what I think. Many other people can possibly think of other ways Marvel Santa can win this battle and take the magical advantage, like I said once before this debate is extremely close. This is my Christmas gift to y'all, homework! Decide on your own who wins this battle! Or just agree with me that's also cool. But nonetheless,

while Marvel Santa had the offense magic, is generally more experienced, can counter a lot of DC Santa's abilities and has a very good one shot option; DC Santa is much more defensive in hax and resistances, has more versatility and Incap options, is much harder to kill, and can counter Marvel Santa's one shot option with his own (that can basically get rid of anything Marvel Santa brings the table instantly.) This was a VERY close debate, but looks like the true father Christmas was chosen today. DC Santa sure decked this fight to the halls, but looks like Marvel Santa could not win in this winter wonderland.

DC's Santa Claus has escaped this deadly fate and is tonight's winner

Marvel's Santa Claus on the other hand, has been sentenced to Death By Blog
