VS Analysis: Cruella De Vil

Cruella De Vil

“If she doesn’t scare you…

No Evil Thing Will.”

(Hi it's me FMT! This blog was made by Ms. Dime! They did a great job and it's a fun one for a fun villain! Enjoy reading!)

Background

Darlings, daaahlings. My past is so misunderstood. It’s practically a crime. Of course, I’m completely innocent. That traitor Anita would tell you otherwise. In fact, EVERYONE is against me! Honestly, from the day I was born, my life was already so traumatic.

I always had a dark side, you see. A dark side that no one ever seemed to want. It was this hair. It’s all natural, completely. I was bullied by other children on the playground for my hair all the time. It didn’t help that my mother tragically died to a bunch of dalmatians. SPECIFICALLY dalmatians. I remember it so vividly.

From then on, I grew up on the streets as a mere disgusting urchin. That’s of course where I met Horace and Jasper, the imbeciles. But they were useful. They got me a job with the most high class fashion designer (at the time), The Baroness! But I discovered she had hidden secrets from me! Yes! She was the one who killed my mother! With dogs!

So I set my revenge into action. I faked my own death, exposed her for her crimes to a live audience, changed my name, and went off flying into the sunset! Born bad, born beautiful! Cruella De Vil! Aaaahahahaha! Of course, then, my old childhood friend Anita had to blab about some… horrid attempt to make her puppies into fur coats. But who truly believes that? It’s a story so outrageous they made a whole film about it… and a sequel… and a live-action remake… and a sequel to that… and cartoons… and books… and video games

BUT MY VERSION IS THE ONLY TRUTHFUL ONE, DO YOU HEAR ME?! I EVEN HAD A MANGA ARTIST FROM JAPAN FILL IN THE GAPS! IT ISN’T MY FAULT THOSE CANINES RUINED EVERYTHI-

Before We Begin

Cruella De Vil. What a gal, right? In all honesty, there’s not too much to discuss with the most deranged fashionista of all time. All Disney media will be covered here, but as per my personal rules with Disney scaling, there are a few things I’d like to state.

We will be discussing more of the House of Mouse/Toon Timeline side of things, as well as how much that affects Cruella. This is my choice for the mainline canon of most Disney films that are featured in it, but we will also be covering alternate continuities like the reboot stor- (IT’S REAL, I’LL NOT BE DISMISSE-)-y, her books, and other media for those who desire a full composite of the character.

But with that said, let’s see how scary this inhuman beast of a woman really is.

Equipment

Car

Cruella’s sweet ride, a large crimson roadster, perfectly capable of offroad travel and chasing down runaway dogs. In later adaptations, her car is a sleek Panther De Ville, fitting for her namesake, which was equally capable of high speed chases. These babies have a top speed of 110 mph, but Cruella takes road rage to a whole new level with this thing.

She can pull off insane Lupin III wall-driving tricks with it and it can drive fast enough to keep up with an underground subway train. It’s also pretty powerful too, able to casually split a whole tree in half and fold buildings like slinky toys.

When Charged, this roadster transforms into a fire-breathing monster-vehicle that stuns anyone it collides with.

Throwing Knives

She owns… a lot of these. Poor Lars.

Metal Rod

A melee weapon of Jasper’s that she takes for herself with the intent to bash Thunderbolt out of his misery.

Gun

For her neutral special, she wields a GUN.

Hang Glider

Cruella uses her designing skills to make a compact hang glider. It serves her well when she fakes her death via falling off a cliff. A well-cut skirt is a lifesaver, girls.

Spyglass

Cruella has a spyglass she uses to spy on the dalmatians like a freaking weirdo.

Sprinkler System

She has a sprinkler system set up in her yard that can send the pups flying with streams of water.

Disktix 6,000 Crude Indicator

A machine that helps Cruella locate oil.

Fireworks

She can use these for decorations, as flare signals, and even as weapons.

Lighter

Cruella’s lighter can create large fires in an instant. It’s also nice for the occasional smoke.

Ivy’s Baby Carriage

Presumably a toy that Cruella got her from De Vil Co., this carriage is more than it seems, able to transform into a fully operational battle station with a screen hidden in its baby doll’s head for communicating with her aunt, a missile launcher, and a forcefield. It also has hidden rocket thrusters that grant it the ability to achieve turbo speeds and giant mechanical chompers. Another model has an energy beam that can vaporize part of a gymnastics bar. However, its most powerful transformation is a ray that is able to produce an energy construct of a hand, capable of redirecting an asteroid’s path.

Ferocious Fun Pups

An army of one-hundred-and-one mechanical dogs that Ivy used to frame the pups for public menacing, straight from De Vil Co. However, if the remote control is damaged, they will malfunction and run amok.

Tap-o-Matic

This contraption allows Cruella to tap other people’s phones from a distance.

Robo-Rolley

A robotic version of Rolley that Cruella can control from a distance. He possesses a metal claw that can come out of his back. Maximum Fetch mode gives him metal jaws, rocket thrusters, a targeting system, and a miniature razor blade that can saw right through metal.

Satelite

She has a satellite that can send out beams that override whatever TV screen is broadcasting.

Virus

Though it requires being directly linked to a computer, Cruella is able to use an unstoppable computer virus.

Radio-Controlled Roadster

A miniature toy version of Cruella’s signature vehicle that can attack at ramming speed.

Jack in the Box

This Jack in the Box can damage the likes of Domino by swinging its head.

Baddun Punching Bag

An inflatable punching bag that tumbles back when attacked and winds up for a set of two punches.

Toy Soldier

A toy soldier that launches firecrackers from its bazooka.

Toy Tank

A toy tank that fires firecrackers from its turret.

Toy Helicopter

Toy helicopters mainly used for security and scouting out areas.

Toy Blimp

These toy blimps are able to drop firecracker bombs while flying through the air.

Toastbot

A toaster robot that transforms upon activation and fires… toast at you.

Bomb Car

A car with a firecracker attached to it. Needless to try, it will try and get whoever’s near it caught up in its explosion.

Toy Boat

A boat that occasionally launches corks to impede the progress of the puppies.

Toy Alligator

A toy alligator fully capable of swimming in the water and snapping its deadly jaws at the pups.

Toy Devil

Small robotic devils that can use their pitchforks for stabbing.

Toy Clown

A typical clown enemy that can jump and rush into the puppies.

Clapping Monkey

A toy monkey that claps its cymbals and rushes at its opponents.

Dozer

Toy bulldozers that drive around ramming into the puppies.

Toy Airplane

Toy airplanes that fly around and attempt to crash into the puppies.

Toy Snowman

An evil robotic snowman that swipes its hands at the puppies in an attempt to whack them.

Wind-Up Penguin

A toy penguin that slides on its belly and tries to slam into the puppies.

Toy Knight

A toy knight armed with a blade which it uses to take swings at its foes.

Cruella’s Helicopter

Cruella’s able to pilot a helicopter that’s armed with a tomato cannon. Odd choice of weaponry, but if it works it works.

Cruella’s Boat

A vehicle that Fazboom claims is his best invention ever. A bit of an exaggeration as all it seems to do is drive around and fire tomatoes like the helicopter.

Water Balloons

Cruella carries a plethora of water balloons with which to splash her foes into submission.

Superglue Gun

Cruella intended to use this to freeze the Dalmatians in place and package them as life-sized Dalmatian toys. Arguably worse than the fur coat.

Turrets

These surround Cruella during the final battle with Domino in 102 Dalmatians: Puppies to the Rescue. They can release pink, swirling energy blasts that do damage to the pups if they get hit by them.

Floating Orbs

These orbs also surround Cruella and assist her by rapid-firing multiple energy blasts at a time.

Smoke Bombs

Cruella and her henchmen are in possession of smoke bombs that make it easy to veil their escape or theft.

Gas Masks

And of course, gas masks are needed as protection against these types of bombs as well, so Cruella and her men are in no short supply of them.

Bomb

Cruella can throw these far ahead of her or backwards while driving.

Shield

This erects a green shield that protects Cruella and her vehicle from one attack. Alternatively, she can charge up to fire a short-ranged blast of aura to stun other drivers.

Dash

This item gives Cruella a small boost.

Shot

A projectile capable of ricocheting off surfaces.

Minions

Horace and Jasper

Horace and Jasper are her usual band of criminal partners. They usually serve as her muscle.

Scorch

Cruella’s pet ferret. He usually assists in chasing down the puppies.

Legal Team

Cruella’s lawyers, whom she can summon with just a snap of her fingers.

Ivy De Vil

Cruella’s niece is a collaborator in her schemes. Unlike her aunt, she’s more stealth-psycho than outwardly antagonistic and uses her cute facade to fool the adults around her and frame others for her wrongdoings. She’s actually equipped with the most destructive gadgets Cruella can give her.

She carries her own virus in the form of a computer disk that can corrupt software and destroy it, her signature baby carriage, and her mechanical dogs.

Professor Fazboom

No relation to Fazbear, this professor is a toymaker who designs all the toys in Cruella’s miniature robot army. He’s hopelessly in love with her.

Alonzo

Alonzo is Cruella’s butler, although he’s no more competent at stealing the puppies than Horace and Jasper are.

Le Pelt

Head of the fashion house, Monsieur Le Pelt, Le Pelt strikes up an alliance with Cruella in 102 Dalmatians due to their shared love of fur coats.

Abilities

Believe it or not, Cruella has quite a few tricks up her sleeve that can help her get an edge in a fight.

Toon Physiology

As it turns out, all the Disney characters are in fact Toons, not just the cartoony ones, as shown in Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion. And seeing as how she’s a guest in the House of Mouse, a club for toons in Downtown Toontown, I think it’s safe to say she qualifies. Though unlike in a franchise like Looney Tunes, their level of Toon Physics tends to vary from manifestation to manifestation. Luckily, our Cruella just happens to be very much in the camp of cartoony.

To start, let’s examine the basic innate qualities that Toons possess. Oswald states that the most trademark quality of a Toon is their ability to quickly bounce back from physical damage thanks to their elasticity. The novelization of Who Framed Roger Rabbit supports this and touches upon their insane levels of body control and natural affinity for appealing to emotion.

Cruella demonstrates this consistently. She can get flattened by doors and spring back into action in the next few seconds, none the worse for it. In addition to this, she can also stretch her arm out as much as she likes.

She should also possess a toon’s heart which allows her to traverse to and from the Wasteland without getting sealed inside.

Toons are noted to operate differently than the average human, made up of magic paint that maintains their animacy and functions as their very essence.

To humans, Toons are virtually unkillable without the assistance of The Dip, but we’ll touch on that near the end of the blog and see just how true that statement holds up. (See: Notes)

Persuasion Magic

In Once Upon a Time, Cruella is granted the power of stinky breath which allows her to control animals. She uses this to kill her mother with Dalmatians entire years before the reboot.

Sound Manipulation

Cruella can scream so loud, it physically blows back people in her path. This isn’t just something Cruella can do either. Her car can release sonic booms that can stun people in her path.

Transformation and Cloth Manipulation

Cruella, in her rage, while standing up to her mother’s abusive behavior, transforms in and out of a gargoyle form, and gives herself a hood and robes. This isn’t metaphorical either. A puff occurs around her body to indicate that this is really happening and this is just something she can do.

Fear Inducement

As seen above, that lyric in her song isn’t just for show. She was able to frighten those two dogs to such a degree that they shrunk from the fear. And in Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, her skill Got to be Kidding Me has her very laughter induce fear upon her enemies. Always In Charge ensures that all enemies are scared when they are near Cruella, and she gains Max HP and Armor from this as well. These buffs are not able to be removed.

Statistics Amplification

Got To Be Kidding Me also increases Cruella’s movement and attack speed, while her basic attacks cause Knock Back and deal more of a specific damage type: Fantastic.

Empathic Manipulation

Her Paper Cuts skill allows her to throw a check at an enemy, instantly Charming them for a few seconds.

Stun Effect and Power Nullification

The Got To Be Kidding Me skill removes all of the buffs of her enemy, becoming Knock Back immune and stunned for a few seconds. The stun cannot be cleansed, avoided by evasion, reduced by tenacity or dodged.

Scaling

The Dalmatians

Cruella is usually portrayed as quite a deal stronger than the dalmatians, who have some impressive feats of their own.

Horace and Jasper

Cruella’s bumbling henchmen. She’s usually on par with them and is quick to get physical whenever they fail her, so she should scale to them reasonably.

Anita and Roger

Cruella’s harmed Roger before, so she definitely scales to these two.

Nanny

Cruella should reasonably scale to Nanny and this is important because… uh…

The Average Disney Parks Enjoyer (Optional)

Yeah, so the average kid going to Disneyland actually has feats. And not just any feats, like actual speed feats that pretty much everyone in the verse can upscale, including Cruella and her henchmen since they’ve fought them before.

It may seem ridiculous but look at it from this lens: Disney Parks always has this incentive to make your experience as interactive as possible so you feel special. Like, the Disney characters need YOUR help to overcome this obstacle. When you think about just how often that happens not just in park events and attractions, but video games designed to simulate what a trip to the park from a storytelling lens is like…

You get some actually bonkers shit.

Disney Scaling (Optional)

Scaling to the average Disney Parks guest, they would be pretty on par with Captain Hook, who has fought with Mickey Mouse in Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion. The Paul Rudish shorts are a part of Disney Parks too, which the guests participate in, so we can reasonably count that in too.

If we soft comp her with the Sorcerers continuity, the guest fought off the Disney Villains as well, they’d scale to the likes of Genie Jafar and Lythos too.

Somewhat.

Lorcana Scaling

Lorcana scaling however is a different case. FMT’s Ursula blog covers this in much greater detail, but Illumineers are able to create Glimmers, which are essentially duplicates of many famous Disney characters.

Illumineers use a variety of ink types to summon versions of these Disney characters such as Emerald and Sapphire. There are also different types of Glimmers: Natural Storyborn Glimmers, which are one-to-one with their original incarnation, and then Dreamborn who are influenced by the Illumineer they’re summoned from into becoming something new. And then, there are the Floodborn, which were transformed when a flood of ink changed them.

We should be able to use the Storyborn Cruellas as a basis for who we can scale the main version to. The problem is, in the story of Lorcana, Cruella doesn’t… actually do… much of anything. She just starts wearing ink fashion and gets a new car. So, not much to work with. But hey, maybe in the future we’ll get Cruella as a big bad like Ursula. Who knows?

It’s also worth noting that Lorcana summons hail from multiple different continuities, from the Ducktales 2017 canon to the usual Mickey Toon Timeline canon. So make with that knowledge how you will.

Weaknesses

Notes

Cruella Can Come Back From ANYTHING?!

So we’ve seen it said that it’s nigh-impossible to kill a Toon and they can come back from physical damage like nothing happened. Does this mean Cruella is completely immortal? Well, yes, but actually no. At least in any way that matters for a debate. While highly skilled Toons like Donald or Mickey can reform from being liquidated or erased, this level of regen doesn’t apply to all Toons, nor does it mean that they will always have elasticity on their side when receiving physical punishment.

Let’s examine the various effects physical damage has on Toons directly from the sources they came from. For example, in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Jessica’s able to just hit Roger on the head with a frying pan and knock him out instantly. No squash or stretch. He’s just out. And in Epic Mickey, Mickey can take physical damage from various obstacles that aren’t Thinner-based and while he does demonstrate elasticity in some of these death animations, they prove that with enough damage, he can be effectively brought out of a fight.

More importantly, let’s touch upon the way these powers seem to work. While not as explicit as Looney Tunes: The Ultimate Guide’s explanation, it’s clear that their powers somewhat function on their state of mind.

For example, Roger wasn’t able to consciously control what kind of things swirled around his head on command because of his mindset involving Jessica. But when his faith was restored in her, he was back to being able to produce stars. He also states that he was only able to slip out of handcuffs when it was funny. This contributes to the largely spread myth that toon force works because of plot-elements and what is objectively funny.

But this just isn’t the case. Judge Doom, also a toon, was able to use his toon powers with the intent to murder. Not many people would think this is funny. But he probably did. So, as famous Beatles member George Harrison once said, it’s all in the mind, y’know? It isn’t exactly clear what in your mindset or instincts activates toon force and there isn’t any Looniversity to properly teach you how to use these powers, which is why in most cases, it happens by accident, especially by Toons who don’t even know they’re Toons.

Lastly, let’s touch upon the concept of death for a sec. In Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the weasels are actually capable of laughing themselves to death and they don’t return for like… a while. They do still come back in Car Toon Spin, with the exception of Smart Ass who got dipped for good, and got replaced by Wise Guy, but we don’t have a set time frame for their revival. And while Huey, Duey and Louie, are able to instantly resurrect themselves, that just proves they’re a cut above the rest in that department.

Villains like Ursula and Maleficent are able to go long periods of time, sometimes even years without coming back to life. This is most likely because, as stated earlier, they didn’t even know it was an option and that they were Toons at all.

You could just say from a meta perspective that they are all just actors, but this also doesn’t fit within how Epic Mickey portrays them despite the concept of toon actors being a reality. Even when they’re pulled from various points in time into Mizrabel’s castle in the middle of their stories, they still behave perfectly in-character and everything that happens in those movies are completely real to them. That’s what separates toons like Mickey from toons like Frollo or Clayton. It’s their level of awareness and what they can do with their toon force.

Luckily, Cruella very much falls within the aware camp. At least, after the events of the movie. You see, the canon still subscribes to the “toon actors” theory as of 101 Dalmatians: The Series. In the episode “The Making Of…, it’s revealed that all of the actors working on the show are in fact toons. Well, they don’t say it outright, but they basically are. If putting Cruella through a Wile E. Coyote role doesn’t say anything, I don’t know what will.

They also reveal that even though it seems like it’s a different continuity, the original film indeed does exist in this canon and the Pongo, Perdita, and Cruella we see in the series are the same from the movie. This also doesn’t actively disprove the idea that they believed everything that was happening to them was real, as they were only in acting roles after the original movie was finished, the characters really are named what they are in the movie, they do their own stunts (getting physically damaged and all that) and they behave exactly as they did in the movie. They just have more fourth wall awareness in the sequel series, which fits with how Toons are depicted in House of Mouse.

Speaking of, in House of Mouse though, there are characters like Hades who have explicitly performed outtakes in other things before getting the role in Hercules. But to begin with, Hades was always shown to be aware of the fourth wall, even in the movie, and he still has his godly powers outside of the film. It was most likely he was some kind of Truman Show plant in the world of Hercules, but it doesn’t make his animosity any less real.

This also isn’t entirely uncommon. Timon and Pumbaa break the fourth wall during Hakuna Mattata in the Lion King, with Simba just looking confused as to who they’re addressing. And in The Lion King 1 ½, Timon and Pumbaa are able to watch the events of their entire life, even those not recorded in the original Lion King, and act as if it were a very real part of their lives after those events had ended. And then every Disney character shows up to watch the movie after it ended when it finishes anyway, tying the whole thing together.

Cruella herself states 101 Dalmatians was a film in House of Mouse, but that also didn’t make whatever happened to her less real. We’d have to guess that at some point after the events of each story was over, Cruella, like every Disney character, was clued in on the nature of Toons and the “real world”, it hurt her reputation, she moved on, kept being her authentic self, and became an actress just like everyone else.

So in Cruella’s case, while she is certainly more toony than they are, it isn’t reliable for her to return from death in an instant. That was a lot to explain for a notes section but I hope that cleared up stuff on the Toon Timeline. As much as I can anyway. It can get confusing, and one day, I may yet figure out the entire thing top to bottom.

Does Cruella Scale to the God Tiers?

It’s… complicated. I’d first like to say in terms of Toon Timeline scaling, no. No, she doesn’t. In House of Mouse or really any Disney game, Cruella doesn’t display any feats that put her on par with the main cast. The most she does is scare characters like Goofy or Pluto, but that’s more due to her general demeanor than anything.

The same is true for a good chunk of crossover media. Cruella hangs around the villains but she is rarely ever a pillar of physical force. She isn’t even in Kingdom Hearts.

However, there is one possible piece of Disney content that gives Cruella and her henchmen scaling to Hades and even Genie Jafar. And that is Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.

The plot of the game is that Hades wants to make the Magic Kingdom his vacation home and is recruiting all of the villains to help him take over. Merlin recruits park guests to help him out and defend it from the bad guys. Cruella is one of these villains and she takes hits from the player character and their spell cards. She can also damage them with bombs and hurt Jasper physically, so she should safely scale physically to everything.

(Note: It doesn’t show this super well in the videos, but how quickly the villains go down depends on the difficulty setting and card type you use. Normally, it takes multiple turns, and all bosses, except Hades, who gets sealed, are capable of taking multiple attacks from spell cards as well as damaging the player too. Most of the footage that’s available is only on Easy mode though, or using a spell type that’s specifically a villain’s weakness, both resulting in one-shots, but generally, it is understood that villains can take attacks from any spell card. The official home version supports this. And as Lythos’s spell type is Strong and not Gross, Cruella’s weakness, meaning she should be able to take attacks from him and thus be granted scaling to Zeus.)

Some of the other villains Merlin’s friends fight are Ursula, Dr. Facilier, Maleficent, and Genie Jafar. It’s also worth noting that their spell cards channel attacks from the Trident, Elsa’s ice powers, Yen Sid’s Sorcerer’s Hat, Lythos, one of the Titans that overpowered Olympus, Herc himself, and famous planetary threat, Lightning McQueen.

So sounds like Cruella should be in the upper echelons of power in the Disney canon, right? Potentially Uni to Infinite speed! Yeeeeaah no.

For one, some of the more busted feats like Herc holding up the sky or all of the crazy feats from the Aladdin TV show or extended media would not be valid because this explicitly takes place in an alternate timeline to that.

As we see in the Jafar story, Hades meets Jafar for the first time while he was still trapped in the lamp, which means this would take place in a different canon than Return of Jafar, which would lead into the Aladdin series, and the Hercules TV show crossover, which has Jafar meet Hades for the first time anyway. By this logic, we can only scale Cruella to the feats these characters have performed in their movies since it is at least clear that Sorcerers takes place after those events. It wouldn’t be part of the Toon Timeline either.

This means no Uni Cruella, no Infinite speed Cruella. But is that as far as she goes? Not quite. Cruella and the likes of Jasper and Horace should still be taking attacks from Lythos, who, alongside his Titan allies, were able to overpower Zeus, and Hercules who singlehandedly stopped them. And in the movie, Zeus was still shown to be capable of forming constellations. Unfortunately, that’s as high as Cruella goes in terms of power, but Large Star level isn’t bad at all as a high end! You could potentially stretch this higher if you want to soft comp but I wouldn't recommend it.

However, we can’t do much in terms of speed since the villains are incapable of dodging or reacting to any of the spell cards’ attacks in a way that would grant them higher reaction speed. It’d be like scaling someone to a bullet during a two-way shootout. I believe it is reasonable, however, for them to scale to the guests in general, who have some interesting scaling of their own to Hook and the rest of the Sensational Six. Speaking of…

Donald Is The Bomb… Or Is He?

Ah yes, the infamous bomb feat. So, Donald apparently tanks a bomb that blows up the whole universe, just not in the way you’d expect. It pushes up the whole scenery and it just bounces back down unscathed.

There are a couple of problems with this feat. One is that despite the bomb doing all of that, nothing within the scene is actually damaged. Not the ground, not the lighthouse, not Donald. It’s like the bomb’s impact actively missed them, so I’m uncertain as to whether or not we can scale Donald to it himself. I can give it some leeway for only houses to be launched and undamaged; maybe they’re just built different, but when the whole universe isn’t, it’s kind of a weird thing to accept.

Secondly, it’s a huge outlier. Aside from Beast roaring away the universe, which one-shotted Donald and his friends anyway, there isn’t anything on Donald’s level that would warrant this level of power, at least in base and without KH bullshit. At best, the gang can get away with Star level, and around the regular Disney Villains, that’s pretty consistent too.

So, unless you reaallly want to stretch it, no Uni Cruella. Sorry.

To Mobile Games, Infinity and Beyond!

You’re probably wondering why I didn’t include certain games like Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, Disney Mirrorverse, or Disney Infinity when I said Cruella didn’t scale. Well, let’s break this down game by game.

Rather like another certain crossover, the heroes of DH:BM wouldn’t scale because all of it is just a simulation. A video game. The Disney characters were all pulled into a virtual city to save it from a virus, which means we can’t exactly scale their digital game selves to their actual selves.

Disney Infinity is a bit easier to explain. It’s a Super Smash Bros. situation. All of the characters in Disney Infinity are just toy versions of their actual selves. They even break apart like toys when they die. So we can’t scale them to their usual selves either.

Disney Mirrorverse is also pretty explicitly alternate variations of Disney characters that would not scale to their original selves. TripleCx3’s Zurg vs Garmadon blog touched on the scaling as well, and it doesn’t even really matter in the long run if you’d use composite or not, because the highest usable feat you could use to scale to characters like Cruella is Maui pulling the Sun out of the sky, which is… you guessed it… Star level.

Matchup Potential

Chantel DuBois

My preferred choice for Cruella. I just think 101 Dalmatians and Madagascar as a wider franchise mesh really well together, especially with their expansive canons and a fight between DuBois and Cruella would be one for the books.

I’m almost certainly confident Cruella can match DuBois stat wise without Disney scaling and they’re both so cartoony and crazy with how determined they are to get their prey that it doesn’t feel like much of a tonal clash at all, especially using the series version of Cruella. Plus, how often do you get to see a true Disney vs Dreamworks MU?

Ace Ventura

Aaaaalrighty then. We’ve got our villain vs villain matchup, but what about villain vs hero? I feel like this just makes sense for Ace. She’s an ideal villain for the Pet Detective, friend to all animals, to go after. I think he might actually have stuff to go on stat wise since he has his own cartoon and a crossover with The Mask. So who knows? It could be fun.

Donita Donata

This is a bit of a basic matchup but it’s alright. Cruella and Donita do basically the same thing, kidnap animals to use them for evil fashion purposes but I would really need to be sold on this one fight dynamic wise.

Anyways, that’s all I have for Cruella in my intense research deep dive. I’m going to go home and play Animal Crossing: New Horizons on my Nintendo Swi-...
